I probably don't have the appropriate equipment. I am, however, trying to get: A graduated cylinder A electric scale that measures in grams Some storage containers Just to start out with.

You have to take an educated guess dude. Read the choices. Make a guess. What I can tell you is that the Byazntine empire remained a lot like the roman empire for quite some time.

Hello! I'm looking for different ways to make some safe but cool toys. Mixing different chemicals came to mind and I decided I'd like to do that. Of course, I figured I should know what I'm doing first. So starting out in chemisty, what are some basic chemicals that you need? What chemicals should you never mix? (I.E Potassium Nitrate and Sugar) What are some cool reactions and chemicals I can make? And, by all means feel free to rant and rave about amateur chemists as long as I learn some stuff from it.

Brain controls the size of the iris. The iris controls the amount of light that gets in. But it can also widen for other reasons. Such as seeing an attractive women, or being in a state where you're ready to reproduce. Fear also dilates the eyes. Although I still have no idea where he's going with this. So I still agree with you. Just pointing those out.

Does Almighy God view all people in the same light?
Raider5678 replied to Alan McDougall's topic in Religion
Actually, it shows you are taking it out of context. He's telling his diciples, to avoid cities with gentiles and Samaritans because they had a habit of KILLING them. This verse, doesn't say "Gentiles and Samaritans can't be reborn." it simply says "Hey you 12, don't go there, you might die." You clearly took this way out of context. Seriously, read the verse. It's saying, don't go there. And that's just to the 12. Not everyone. Read it, and don't just try and say "That's bullshit not worth my time." If you don't care to read it, then please mind me and don't try to quote it. Is that so? Huh. Theists should be more like all the theists I know and volunteer at soup kitchens, host fundraisers, support people in need, pray, and be content. I know an outreach program, run by theists, that supports women who had abortions, had unplanned pregnancies, or were single parents. Those seem to be a result of doing something they didn't approve of, and yet they still help them. They don't accuse them. So before being discriminatory to all theists, know we aren't all bad because of a few bad ones. Because I'm pretty sure that's what you call discrimination am I wrong? -
What if science never discovers what made life?

The sad part is that some people are against those helpful advancements. And I agree, we should never stop searching for answers to questions we have. -
Do you have some mathematical proof of negative mass either being possible or existing?

Supernatural. I know, to you seems like a shitty excuse, and in reality it is. The idea that we can't understand it because it's a different reality is far fetched. I get it. So honestly, you're completely right. For you. -

This is because we know that someone knows. If a laptop fell from the sky 2000 years ago, when nobody knew what it was, and it was playing music, don't you think they would think it was magic? -

Acts 28:28 - Be it known therefore unto you, that the salvation of God is sent unto the Gentiles, and [that] they will hear it. Colossians 3:11 - Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond [nor] free: but Christ [is] all, and in all. Galatians 3:14 - That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. Where does it teach to hate? Please show me. I know a lot of Christians do, but inside it, Jesus saves an adulteress woman. He dies on a cross for others. He eats and sleeps with the sinners. He teaches us to right the error in our own ways before worrying about others. He brings Jews away from thinking of themselves as superior and says all are equal in the eyes of the lord. Tell me where is says "Hate thy neighbor if he doesn't act perfectly like you do." Rather it says Matthew 18:21" Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother who sins against me? Up to seven times?” 22 And Jesus answered "I tell you, not just seven times, but seventy seven times!" -

I don't believe we'll stop looking for the answer. -
It ain't confusing me.

Because they aren't seedless.

No, I was talking more about making them out of scratch. It's just that kids would think it was funner to make it out of scratch, and be able to say they can make a rocket it, then make it from a preset model. At least it seems more fun to me. And yes, he makes a lot of cool videos. There is another video of his about how to make fire burn different colors, that I'd like to try too.

Well then I guess we'll see if your predictions come true. Because frankly, I don't have much of a choice other then to ride it out considering I can't even vote. So I have to be willing.

What if science never discovers what made life?
Raider5678 replied to Raider5678's topic in General Philosophy
Because right now it seems like we'll discover what created life. Or at least that it's possible. If in billions of years, we have discovered nothing, that's comparably greater then just a few decades of having discovered nothing. In a billion years, I'm going to make the logical assumption that if we don't wipe ourselves out, we'll be a lot more technologically advanced. Agree? And if in all that, scientists can't no matter how hard they try prove that life could just happen, a lot more people are going to feel that it was created rather then just by chance. Already now, there are(albeit very few. very few) who are religious because after a few decades science still can't answer what caused life. Given a few billion years, it would be logical to assume that more will probably lean with the theory we were created simply because finding a reason life exists is so hard to find. -
I'm honestly willing to just wait out Trump. He's not going to be the worse president ever. And if he screws up big enough, then the Republican party loses support. And if he succeeds, well then it's a win win win.

I got a job testing out model rockets and experimenting them to see how cool I can make them(No pay, but all the supplies I need. Legal ones of course and no extremely expensive ones.) It's for an event in September. It's a relatively small event, but it's the start of a year long group that gets together every week, and they want to be able to have the kids build their own rocket. Out of scratch. So I'm going to make Grant Tompsons Randomizer rocket(you tube) and then experiment from there to see if I can make it more efficient/larger/cooler. I know, cooler isn't a scientific term. But if I could make it burn with purple fire or something, then I'm sure the kids would love that. Even though you can't really see the fire. Either way, I would like some people with knowledge in this area to offer some suggestions. Even if it's rather complex, as long as it's plausible, isn't insanely hard, and is affordable, I want to hear it. Or if it's simple tips. Thank you.

Is there really any other point to this discussion other then for you guys to voice your disapproval for Trump? Is this really necessary? Is that the best thing you can be spending your time on? But while we're at it, his blatant disregard for reality and common sense.
-
Chemical model rockets are a lot of fun and can teach a lot about chemistry. Like that potassium chlorate doesn't require oxygen to burn because it's already inside it's chemical makeup. Hence, it can burn underwater.(WARNING! There's an in-ground pool that has a very large crack in it because of this experiement..... not naming names....)

Theirs last longer and are higher quality,(according to reviews) then the spin-offs of other companies.

What if science never discovers what made life?
Raider5678 replied to Raider5678's topic in General Philosophy
Because we haven't been able to look into genetics as much now as compared to the past 1000 years. If a few billion years go by, and we can do just about everything else, yet science still can't prove life can appear by chance, some people will use this as an excuse for religion. It's pretty straight forward. -
What if science never discovers what made life?
Raider5678 replied to Raider5678's topic in General Philosophy
It's philosophy. I'm wondering if there will be an increase in religion if science can't discover what made life. I'm not advocating whether science has to do anything, nor that it has any relevance in any way at all. I never claimed this. -

I think it does. The question about the origin of life has spawned a large number of religions, perhaps being one of the most influential questions ever asked.
