It seem odd because you're using screwed up lodgic. By this statement, you imply that people buy guns for the purpose of killing underpivaledged kids. Guns are tools to be used for hunting, target shooting, and defense of home, family, self and country. Any responsible gun owner would say the same. Check your use of lodgic here!!

I'm wondering if there is a simple way of separating the precious metal content of a catalytic converter other than, for example, aqua regia when the honeycomb has been crushed/ground to the consistency of facepowder. I mean, can you heat it to the point where the crushed honeycomb will melt and allow the metals to sink to the bottom of the crucible?

Your best bet is to just hold on to that paint for now. You might find a use for it, or you might be able to save enough gold bearing scrap to make a profit. Though I am new to this forum, the advice I offer now is this: do LOTS of research on aqua regia before you ever try it. It is a dangerous process that is not to be trifled with. It involves caustic chemicalsnand toxic fumes. Caution and care are highly advised here.
