  1. hey is a diatomic molecule a molecule containg 2 atoms of the same type or just a molcule which contains 2 atoms that can be of any type (same type or not the same type) ? Cheers sarah
  2. for c) if the mass of the strut is negligble, then the force exerted on the strut by hinge should be 0?
  3. ok ok....hang on....for part b) i am not sure how you 'show' it i'll explain what i think the answer is...... lets call downwards the +ve direction. so the torque exeted by the block is +ve (let it be Torque1) so Torque 1 = L x 80N L is the length of the strut since at the other end of the strut there is a hinge, and since the strut has neglible mass (i.e no mass) therefore there are no torques/forces at that end of the strut. and since the system is in equlibrium therefore there has to be an opposite torque exerted on the strut, which can only come from one place, which is from T2. and since it is the vertical force component of T2 that will exert the torque, therefore the vertical component of T2 has to be 80N. i.e because Torque1 = Torque 2 L x 80N = L x T2y T2y = 80N lol that was very long winded wasnt it,
  4. could i have some help with this question, i just can't quite figure out what to do.... for part a i said a) a) the torque exerted by the 80N block via T1. The torque exerted by T2. The torque exerted by the side thingy ‘wall’.(i.e. the hinge) but i dunno how to do the next few bits.... Sarah
  5. i get.... flask 1 (0ml of Cu2+): 0 M flask 2 (5ml of Cu2+): 0.0009 M flask 3 (10ml of Cu2+): 0.0018 M how'd i do on the questions? lol hopefully good.... :S
  6. actually, lol, can i check one of my answers for the second question? here is the other information needed........
  7. my answer is that its maximum absorbance of the copper-ammonia complex is more than either the copper sulfate or copper nitrate ones.
  8. would it be possible to get some help (i.e. check that i am not making giant mistakes) with the first problems about my chem. prac. that is at the end of the attached word document?
  9. oops yeah i mean 3u^2 and the the answer is 3x|x| ???
  10. hmm ok thanks guys , sounds good!
  11. hey for this question i get A = [2/3, -4/3] [-1/3, 8/3] but is that the "Standard matrix for the linear transformation of T"? or are 'Standard' ones , ones which resemble an identity matrix? Cheers Sarah
  12. ok ignoring the "show for all x" bit, and just concentrating on finding the dervative of f(x) = |x|^3 this is how i calculatd it.....please tell me if i correct or incorrect .......... y = u^3 u = |x| dy/du = 2u^2 du/dx = x/|x| = sgn(x) dy/dx = dy/du * du/dx = (2u^2)*(x/|x|) = (2|x|^2)*(x/|x|) = 2x|x| ??? Thanks Sarah
  13. lol cool thanks
  14. lol i really tried to shink this picture down this time, guess it didnt work eh?
  15. hey just a query about this question.... for part c where it asks if it is wise to check if w in a lin. combination of the other vectors. well i suppose the answer is no, but if you check if v was a lin. combination of the other, then if u was a lin. combination of the others and then if z was a lin. combination of the others (which i think is the case for this problem) then you would be able to say whether of not the set is linearly dependent or not. what do peoples think? Cheers Sarah
  16. cheers, thanks cookie monster
  17. umm yeah i still dont completely understand.... if you have the time could you please explain part a) ?? Thanks Sarah p.s thanks for replying to my other question too
  18. Solve the differential equation dy/dx = (x^2)(y^2) with the condition y = 3 when x = 0. i get y = -3/((x^3)-1) so how'd i do?
  19. hey again Show that f(x) = |x|^3 is differentiable at every real x, and find it’s derivative. i am not sure exactly what the question means by "show".... i got f'(x) = 3x.|x| (not even sure if that right but anyways) and i suppose that f'(x) is defined for all R numbers of x.... however i dont think thats really "showing" anything anyones thoughts on the matter would be welcomed Cheers Sarah
  20. oops, that picture is rather big, lol wasnt meant to be sorry bout that peoples
  21. hey everyone i dont really understand this example in my text book, i've never seen anything asked like this before.... anyways if someone could please explain what they are doing, it would be greatly appreciated Sarah
  22. oh right i see now thanks dap
  23. thanks for that lol and i like your sig. " Your problem is my problem, unless I have a problem with your problem, in which case we have a problem." haha thats cool
  24. right o thanks swansont i just get a little worried about my answers when i am doing them late at night
  25. lol this is fairly urgent, :S as in within the next 8 hours noooo :S
