I have to dig back in to my memory bank, but I think you would start by subtracting 9 from both sides. Then try factoring, and go from there. Let me know how that works out.

Again swansont I appreciate the help Funny enough, I finally reached a reasonable answer...and it didn't agree with the back of the book. ...I was stuck on it for another hour I went straight to my professor for help, as I thought perhaps I was dense... No. The question had been modified, but the answer hadn't been. Darn them.

Sorry, but based on what I can tell from the problem it looks like it is in the form of Trig substitutions. In which case, check them out. You'll see that the problem is in the format of sqrt(a^2-x^2). HINT: Let x= asin(theta) I worked out part of the problem using that, and I believe it works out. Let me know how it works out for you.

Have you learned Trig. Substitutions?

Thanks for the help.

Since he technically goes up and back down...would his displacement in the y direction be 0 meters?

I know that the horizontal acceleration is 0, so that distance =velocity x time But I don't know the velocity so I can't find time, or vice versa
-
The equations I was given are: v = v(initial) + at Distance = (vi)(t) + 1/2a(t^2) v^2= v(initial)^2 + 2(a)(distance)

Question: A daredevil decides to jump a canyon. Its walls are equally high and 10 meters apart. He takes off by driving a motorcycle up a short ramp sloped at an angle of 15 degrees. What minimum speed must he have in order to clear the canyon? I've been picking at this one for an hour. I'm sure it's simple.. I realize that The horizontal distance is 10 meters..and acceleration for the x-component is 0. And that the acceleration for the y-component is 9.8 m/s^2. I'm not asking for the answer.. I just need help getting started. I appreciate the help.

I'll be honest, this is a practice Homework problem. (It's not graded). I just need help getting started..Any help is appreciated. Thanks! An archer shoots an arrow over level ground. The arrow leaves the bow at a height of 1.5 m with an initial velocity of 60 m/s in a horizontal direction. a. How long does this arrow take to fall to ground? b. At what horizontal distance does this arrow strike the ground?

Apparently not everyone is motivated enough to do their own work

I worked out the problem...I'm just not sure if it's correct. A baseball is popped straight up into the air and has a hang-time of 6.25 s. Determine the height to which the ball rises before it reaches its peak. It seems simple enough... First I used vf = vi + a*t I figured it out to be vi = 30.6 m/s Then I used vf^2 = vi^2 + 2ad My final answer was d = 47.9 m P.S. I'd be very grateful if someone would tell me if I'm in the right direction atleast

A "No" pertaining to what exactly?

jdurg is correct.. Mass doesn't necessarily contribute to a high/low boiling point Polar bonds are difficult to "break" and therefore molecules with those bonds have higher boiling points..

I personally think that interlinking science and magic is a novel idea. Get it...novel..? Anyways....

We do not have outbreaks of Tropical diseases in North America because it is not a tropical climate.. *lol* I suppose you mean Florida? Sanitation is the key and vaccinations. Most of the viruses, diseases, etc that are prominent in other parts of the world (ie. 3rd world countries) are due to a lack of proper sanitation and vaccination capabilities.

I believe HCl is produced in the stomach by means of using chloride (Cl-) and hydrogen (H+) from the blood itself. Obviously in order to obtain any (Cl-) from the blood, salt intake is vital. It's been awhile since I had biology...but I think that's correct.

Actually at first stoichiometry annoyed me.. But now after taking AP Chemistry last year... It's a breeze.. I love Chemistry so much that 'stupid stoichiometry' is worth it. Next year I'll officially be a Chem Major -
Wouldn't the equation A= Pe^(rt) suffice?

Why is it that stoichiometry still haunts me :| -

Basically as budullewraagh stated... You can be sophisticated if you'd like. I suggest distilled water. lol
