  1. Actually Michael789, try a google search for an immuno forum site and maybe you can get a definitive answer from people who've being doing this longer than me. I'm still relatively new to immuno.
  2. Hope this doesn't mean I'm weird or anything;) !
  3. I've realised that there seem to be very few females (or at least ones who post) using this forum. Why do you think that is?
  4. Very funny Blike - and here I was thinking I was sharing pearls of wisdom:embarass: !!
  5. Hehe. Well, it just means blood serum from donkey, rabbit, goat - whatever. Polyclonal antibodies are often raised in rabbits, sheep etc. so it's common practice to "block" non-specific binding by incubating tissues, cells etc. with the serum your secondary antibody was raised in.
  6. Looks like you've tried what I would have tried but maybe you could try a different serum such as rabbit, goat, donkey etc. You could also try just blocking with tween-20 (0.1%). Good luck - I know your frustration!
  7. Absolutely - aged 5 I had permanently skinned knees and wouldn't have known what photosynthesis was if it jumped up and bit me. At 13 you should be driving your parents up the wall not addressing international conferences.
  8. Can you imagine trying to teach a child like that? He says he leads a normal life? Of course having a campus security guard hanging around is a normal life, receiving threats from a jealous classmate, aged 8, is a normal life, making speeches and being followed by the media is a normal life? I genuinely do worry a bit about kids like this - how do they do socially? Do they only communicate well with older people? Do they suffer as adults when they've surpassed everyone else?

I suspect option c) will be the most likely outcome:-( ! but thanks for the suggestions! Looking back on my own teen years I never listened to anyone older than about 21 either. So I guess I shouldn't be so offended.
  10. Exactly what I said - what's the take home message? Obviously you know it or you wouldn't have posted the link. So, for us folks who are a bit busy to read a whole lot of ephemeral BS, spell it out in words of one syllable. I'm not a population geneticist or behaviouralist or ecologist so if I ask you to explain it, please do it.
  11. There apparently was a Times article about ergot and hallucinations - linking it to "religious" experiences - same thing or not?

P.S. I not kidding - I'm having real problems getting them to even acknowledge our existence.

Since I sense there are a lot of younger adults on this forum, may I ask a question? My teenage son and daughter seem to believe that me and their father are morons who are hell bent on spoiling their fun? What could I say to them to let them know that a) our heads do NOT zip up the back and b) we are only concerned for their welfare? I know this is boring but they think the world has changed immeasurably from the time we were young and clearly this is not the case in some areas. What would make you listen to your parents? Any guidance gratefully received. Particularly in the area of driving your car too fast.
  14. As a rather new person here may I venture an opinion? I rather got the impression from SOME of his posts that Doc Bill was a bit "up himself" as the Aussies say? Or am I wrong?
  15. For those of yoy interested in developmental biology there is a bit of an argument going on just now between the accepted "progress zone" model proposed by Lewis Wolpert and some new data generated by Cliff Tabin that would seem to refute this model.
  16. Blah Blah Blah......was there a take home message?
  17. Probably provoke epilepsy more like.
  18. So how do you do it- what's the technique?
  19. Never tried that - how do you do it?
  20. I agree with Radical Edward and Blike. Trying to place meaning on colours in dreams is frankly superstitious nonsense. Come to think of it, I've been trying to figure out if I do actually dream in colour but I'm not even sure. Everyone has those mad dreams where they aren't properly dressed etc. and it doesn't take a genius to work out that you're just anxious in waking life. I had very weird dreams when I tried to stop smoking which must have been the effects of the nicotine wearing off.
  21. OK:)
  22. Ooh er...did I press the wrong button somewhere along the line perhaps? If it was my mistake then please disregard this post and my apologies.
  23. OK - if a new thread I post shows up then why don't my reply posts show up?
  24. I posted 2 replies to threads - the squid thing and the star wars thing but they haven't shown up - why? Is it some crappy server thingy or what? Bear with me - I'm an impatient sort of person who doesn't respond well to glitches!!
  25. Hmm....I posted a reply here but it hasn't shown up. Why is that??
