  1. ivew found some oxalic acid, which is prertty strong for an organic acid. i was wondering if i could make some other oxalate or somekind of other thing that wouldnt be an oxalate anymore, or a ester, or someting- something, that i could test to make sure i got or if i coukd use it for sometin. any thoughts?
  2. makin h2o2 definately impractical, defiantely
  3. wow u are smart, how do u come up with experiments like this? (great way to continue my inorganic exp.'s)
  4. is hard to understand his question. and wtas EDTA?
  5. ya. ethanol works pretty good too
  6. aww waterver u get my point (btw if its that pure u wouldnt be extracting it)
  7. keeping it cold will definatel keep it from losing carbonation, hence why pop is usually stored cold. also i heard adding milk to pop keeps it from fizzing (or is it the other way around?). as for an attachment you could make one that increases pressure in the bottle which will keep more co2 dissolved.
  8. that makes the surface greasy though
  9. i have relitively alot of citric acid, but i havent found any use for it ever (except eating it), anone kno somwtin i could use it for?
  10. ionized atoms cant just travel throough the lattice of glass
  11. well how about one that is a ring but not symetrical, how do u know which carbon is which?
  12. well esterification sounds cool, but i dont really know how to do any of theose... perhaps some more detailed instructions. Btw i have 200 proof ethanol nad glacial acetic acid.
  13. could i use the products of that reaction for someting (especially the chloroform)? oh also, if i did that reaction would the chlorofrm float to the top, or sink to the bottom, or something else?
  14. nice. ill try that. hopefully i wont fall asleep during it tho
  15. well, ive lately had few stuff to do in inorganic, so i wanted to see if i could try orgo.
  16. ahaha i see. but in compounds i guess u could consider those halogens as having radicals, (kinda, not really tho)
  17. does anyone know some interesting synthesis/experiments with organic compounds? and im just a beginner so i dont have much knowledge or experience with this field. thx
  18. burn water in oxygen ;-). (jk)
  19. since carbon componds liek benzene, etc., form carbon rings, how do u know wich carbon is considered the first?
  20. what does n-butanol mean (the n thingy)?
  21. is there a way a person can reduce amount of sleep one needs (like so u wont feel tired after a lesser amount of sleep)? not doing as much work or or sleeping prior doesnt count
  22. does anyone kno what the solvent in sharpies is? ive heard its nitroparaffin, but that didnt really make sense
  23. i was close
  24. berkut wood win all the way
  25. so valency is the # of electrons on the valence shell
