get a small bucket and dip graphite (pencil led) electrodes attahed to the wires in the solution. Use NaCl, for u will need less of it to get the same eefect as Baking soda, but it will generate chlorine, but very little. U cannot use copper or iron or zinc for the will oxidize and react with the salt or get oxidized forming rust fort iron for example. THis will result in a ton of "crap" floating in you water and the electrodes will slowly dissolve. IT is horribly disgusting. Graphite, is neutral, and will not react so ur water will stay clear. however copper will not react to much but still will. -

she put like 1/8 of a teaspoon in a whole tub -
too concentrate my bleach i boiled it in a pan. I dont think oneone will use it for cooking, but how could i clean it chemically to rid it of maximum amount of bleach and form something not too dangerous like salt or something.

wen i was little my mom would add kMnO4 to my bath. -
if i heated NaOCl would it decompose and give me CL? [update] i know have 19 bottles of iodine tincture. as soon as i figure out my final way of making Cl i will start. (19 bottles= 570 ml!!) heres a pic just for the hell of it:

like u h2so4, i have kind of been amazed at how i have never been hurt by acid- even when hydroxides and acids have gotten directly on my skin. THe worst i ever got was when i put my 20% or 30% or so h202 on my hand and it turned a bitr red and itched. But normally when handling something "dangerous' i wear rubber gloves. My mom gets em really chea pand a box lasts me alot. ANd it makes me feel a bit more comfortable while doing experiments and such. Plus it completes my chemist uniform =) -

it was nitric and her husband bought it online. -
thats a tricky one. But i am sure it has something to do with the fact that acetic acid is weak and NAOH is strong. SO perhaps the Point of "neutrality " shifts to the basic side for there is a strong base used.

the first defenition is titration. The "point d'Équivalence" is when all the acid has nuetralized all the base, or H+ = OH-. but thats all i can think of for that. For the last part i THink the curve is so rapid becasue a buffer has formed, and when the buffer capacity is exceded, it then contiunes to rapidly neutralize.

Calculate the energy needed to break the bonds in the reactant molecules, then claculate the energy released in the making of new bonds in the produced molecule, Al2O3, then find the sum of the energy needed to break the bonds and the energy needed to make then new bonds. And also, multiply each bonds strength/energy by the numebr of moles of it that is in the reaction. [edit]- the alumina part is if ur doing the traditional rust and AL.

after about 20 min conc. h2so4 will dissolve a small cube of steak -
i just got 11 bottles of iodine tincture. 30 ml each (330 ml total), each containing 2% iodine and 2.4% sodium iodide. wat do you reckon the yield will be after the chlorine and all?

once ur semi knowledgable and can safely weild chems, this is the BEST site for chemicasl. Not only are the chems not pyrothecnics, but the come in a fairly large variety and in good sized containers. By "good" i mean not too big, not too expensive. also, with titration u would find the molarity of the acid; not quite the acidity or Ph. if u knew the molarity of conc. citric acid tho i guess u could find the acidity compared to conc. citric acid.

I noticed that a drop of KOH solution added to iodine solution (iodine tincture and iodine+ethanol) casues it to completelly lose color. I had a iodine stain in the bathroom, and when i added 1 drop of KOH to it it almost instantly disapered and became a perfectly clean countertop. does anyone kno the reaction or wats goin on here?

if u are testing the ph (acidity) why not use ph paper?!!?! titration would be quite difficult since the acid is pretty dilute. If you had to use titration then i would say ur only chance is to use a fairly bright indicator, or consantly test the ph after every drip- it would greatly help to have a ph meter for that. also, the meter would be more acurate than the normal titration, but if you would be using PH papers to see the PH in titration , why not just use it at the beginning?

how could i utilize the common and cheap NaCl to make me some Cl? also, im not sure wat u were doing in that picture: reacting the hypochlorite in the beaker with something or planning to? planning to distill it and condense the stuff coming out the end?

my dad/mom could get me the stuff for free. Is there any way i could use NaCl to generate some Cl? possible this: HCL + NaCl? xcpet i dont know wat that would yield me if it would react t all.
