A photon travels in space-time. The OP asks whether or not the medium (space-time) itself is wave-like thereby creating the wave-like properties of photon. Now, Einstien's GR shows that only massive bodies can warp space-time to create geodesics. As a photon is a massless boson, it can't warp space-time around itself. (N.B.- The medium is space-time and not ether) This logically follows that photons must exhibit wave-like properties by themselves.

A theory may be true to some but not true for all. I cite here two examples. Classical electrodynamics work excellent when dealing with real-life practical cases. The Larmor's formula states that any electrically-charged body radiates out power when moving in a circular path. That's perfect. So it is true. But this theory doesn't hold true for situations at the quantum scale. A moving electron, according to the Larmor's formula, should radiate out power and should eventually go spiral round the nucleus and finally collapse with the atomic nucleus. But this never happens. The electrons remain stable in their orbits. This is because of the fact that electrons remain stable as long as they move in their specific orbits (energy levels). So, we conclude that Larmor's formula is true for practical purposes but false for situations at the quantum scale. hence it is not universally true. Similarly, the change in time is almost unnoticable for real-life situations. But, the time dilation is quite substantial for speeds approachable to speed of light. Thus the Galilean relativity is perfect when velocity is very very less than c but is not true for high velocities, if v=90% of c. Hence this is too not a universal theory. All theories depend upon their scale of reference. At a particular scale, a particular theory is consistent and applicable.

I'm also a student and I'm preparing myself for the upcoming exam. Here' how I study. First, read the chapter thoroughly and understand it. I emphasize on understanding the core concept rather than mugging it up. Second, underline\highlight the important points. Learning by making points makes it easy to study. Third, learn the whole chapter thoroughly. Memorize the points and the core concept. Lastly, I practice. Practice is the key to get good marks. Lots of practice helps me to refresh my memory. -
According to Bohr-Bury rules, an electron shell can have the maximum number of electrons as [math] 2n^2 [/math], where n is the energy level number. Exception is that the outermost valence shell can have not more than 8 electrons and the shell preceding it not more than 18 electrons. If you look at the periodic table, you will notice that this rule preserves the order and regular pattern of the elements.

No, there's no short way to learn, as a short-cut is often a wrong-cut. But, once you get into chemistry, your brain will automatically memorize these ions' names and formulas.
