hmmm, what about if you had a giant disk and spun it, would it be possible to make the disk big enough so the outsides are travelling faster than the speed of light? My guess is that the disk would never balance out to finite size and finite energy to spin it but I don't really know.

my friend says he doesn't believe in time dialation and when I tried to explain to him all the proof and stuff, like mathematical and even experimental, he wouldn't listen to the mathematical and when I told him about the experimental ( rocket flying really fast, clocks were slightly different) he just said some crap (I am allowed to say that right?) about how it was probably rigged, because scientists wanted more money, how the clocks couldn't have been started at the same time and other crazy sorts of things. I was wondering then, if anyone here can give some sort of explanation of how time dialation has been observed and maybe some sort of reasoning to convince him?

oh... I have another question: since heat is moving atoms, then if you heat something enough then would you get sound?

basicly then, my teacher and textbook didn't consider my class to be ummm advanced enough??? My teacher keeps saying stuff about how the mass is always the same... but anyway, how would the mass loss occur? what would be transformed into energy? Like maybe in this: Zn+CuSo4--->Cu+ZnSo4 would one of the atoms be changed or something?

how is heat transmitted through a vacuum? If heat is the vibration of particles, then how can it travel through no medium? When heat is transmitted through particles, is it transmitted by infared light?

In chemical reactions, the mass of the reactants and the product are the same right? But in fire, energy is released, so if the mass was still exactly the same after you burned something, then you would have gotten some energy free! I don't get this I learned this in science class, grade 8 so do you think that they just didn't bother explaining that?
