Zapatos, just to clarify, I did not intend to attack your parenting skills - I attacked the argument and I stand by it.

You Raider have a way of marching in a middle of a post in the most annoying way. Don't you have any homework to do?

I was typing in an answer to zapatos' post but decided to withdraw - iNow disarmed me. I don't see a point in fighting about religion between the regulars. Although I stand by everything I said, I will gladely withdraw from further picking on Zapatos. I'm surrounded by dimreepr and itoero anyway so I'm outnumbered by the dark side of the force. A true jedi weighs his chances accordingly to the situation.

According to your above logic there is equal indoctrination and equal lack of choice in feeding a child bullshit for years and not feeding a child bullshit for years. This approach is as ridiculous as is dangerous.

Neither the size of my balls nor my complete lack of information on yourself or how you raised your children have anything to do with my statement because you stated yourself that: "As someone who attended and sent my children to Catholic schools" and that speaks for itself. Whether you like it or not, you have not given your children a choice of faith, type of it or lack of it by a simple fact that you put them through catholic school.

Right...because thats what they learn in catholic schools. Or muslim schools. Or jewish schools.

I can only speak for myself, not for my children. My position is that religion should be taught outside of public schools and certainly not out of tax payers money. I'm an atheist so my children will be taught critical thinking, curiosity for nature around them, respect for elders, empathy towards other beings, they will find out from me about their roots and traditions of their ancestors. They will also receive from me the values which I, my Father and his Father before him held dear. I would never think of imposing on my children what was imposed on me in the school system as far as religion is concerned. My children will not attend religion in school and then after be presented with a choice of what they want to do with their faith after their minds have been fed fairytales and fear for years. If my children decide to be priests, full blown Christian creationists, scientists, hair dressers, believers, non-believers or whatever - it will be their conscious, adult choice and I will try to shield them from any indoctrination for as long as I can...to maximize chances of them becoming the best version of themselves. Meanwhile while I'll be doing the above, I do not wish to take away your rights to do whatever you feel is good for you and your children nor I have any right to do so. I do have the right to tell you this though because it's an undeniable fact - don't kid yourself that you gave your children any choice.

We went to the ZOO with our 1 year old over the weekend. I took the below picture of a baboon and looking at it it got me thinking of how interesting the visual and behavioral similarities between homosapien and other primates are. I learned that baboons are part of the "Old World Monkeys" tribe and that the classification of primates is actually pretty complex. I know virtually nothing about evolutionary biology and I know that there is nothing scientific about what I'm about to say but...just look at this guy's eyes and facial expression - it's astounding (click for larger image):

I have the same feelings and Im not welcoming this change cheerfuly but its innevitable. It's happening right now. Good news is that you will have as much dedicated compute power at your exclusive disposal as you want...at a swipe of your credit card

The way the global IT market is going with the massive transition into cloud services soon you will have no choice. Every piece of interactive hardware you own will be cheap as donuts consisting of a pretty display, a super fast wifi network card and thats it. The rest will be in the cloud.

We both know that this is where it has to start as literally nothing is being absorbed. Its going to stay that way untill basics are going to be understood.

Start with the fact that there is no such thing as velocity v=c for massive objects.

Study Finds Link Between Brain Damage and Religious Fundamentalism.
koti replied to koti's topic in Science News
Hi Joshua and since this is your first post - welcome to the Science forums. I hope you will stay and benefit from this community. You are posting a Christian fundamentalist talk backed by the Creationist Liberty Forums on a Science forum in the science news section which is highly presumptuous but since this is a thread which I started I'm going to answer. I've watched the first 3 minutes of the video you posted and could not continue beyond, let me explain why. First of all, the young man dressed in black named Joshua in the video states at the very beginning that no one outside of your church is permitted to participate in your online video call. This hermetic attitude towards reason and outside thinking would threaten your beliefs and threaten your church which is understandable - you need to keep people quite when running a nice, small sect. Please notice that we here at science forums are not that way - we are open for discussion. Secondly, Joshua in the video is clearly of North American origin and states that he lives in southern California yet he can barely read his native language. This doesn't prognosticate well for the quality of the rest of this video. Thirdly, I've noticed that the second participant, Christopher who as stated in the video established the Creationist Liberty Evangelism Church, is in a commanding manner looking for evidence in a scientific study yet as a creationist his belief system is based by definition only on lack of evidence and primitive lies. I would encourage you to stay on this forum and look for interesting new things to learn. There is a whole world out there of wonders to learn about and we have such a short time to find out about them. It is such a waste of your precious life to spend it on silly misconceptions and lies. I too will share a video with you, it is only 38 seconds long yet it bares a lot more wisdom than the one you shared: -
I never complained. On the other hand I did have two hardrive crashes in the last 15 years resulting in mayhem. You should try Onedrive, I was skeptical too but its actually good. Oh and I dont have and never had anything to do with microsoft proffesionally, in fact I was a hater in my younger years. End of preach

I totally agree with the first part of your post which states what religion teaching should be like. Unfortunately the second part of your post means that you have no idea what religion in school is like for the majority of people in this world.
-
Physics and chemistry are science disciplines not meant nor capable of indoctrinating whereas teaching religion seeds fear, lack of skeptisism and lack of critical thinking in spongy, young minds. It is especially difficult to get rid of any indoctrination when it starts at a young age. Half of the posts on this forum is convincing evidence for the above. There, theres one for ya.

Soon you will not have a choice, might as well get used to the cloud right now.

You need to connect some kind of storage to your machine in order to perform the backup. If your machine is not physically disconnected from the network (constantly) than its still a risk. Also good luck with hacking a microsoft server farm. As for redundancy there is little chance you could get even close to the kind of redundancy that the big companies offer - even for free. I think its the insentive that makes you voulnarable. If your data is worth a lot then someone will find a way to get to you. In that case I'd reccomend keeping a low profile - no FB account, no forums, no nothing. If youre the average Joe like me theres no reason not to use cloud services.

That is so wrong on so many levels.

Lol, you are deep into the matrix man. Only a small percentage of people know what an apache server or secure virtual network or subversion control is. You need to step down a little or people will hate you for being a smart axx

I'm impressed that you got her last name right with the crossed l - ł

I'm using free 1TB from MS Onedrive. After 2 years of heavy photo/video usage I have about 100 gigs of media there. I also keep crucial, non media data content on dropbox. I don't keep offline backups anymore, I keep everything in the cloud.
