  1. So what better alternative to the scientific method would you propose?
  2. Simple - Yes and no. I think. We know its got an arrow, we know it „bends” along with space under conditions which implies its got „interactive features” which further might imply that time is a thing. But that does not have to be true... just like space is volume, time might just be analogous to volume. On the other hand, we don’t even know if time had a beginning and it might not be a valid question whether there was a beginning to the Universe because conditions at t=0 were so much different from what we see now. Most theorerical physicists agree that GR has to be eventually complemented by a fuller theory and not just because we need to marry gravity under QM and GR but more fundamentally, we don’t know what gravity and spacetime fundametally is. It is pretty obvious (at least to my lame, amateur mind) that what we define as gravity is just a „leak” of something more fundamental, maybe time and the concepts of beginning/before/after are a part of something larger too on the cosmic scales. One thing we can be sure of, our gut is a bad adviser due to our evolutionary handicap of living is our small Earth bubble. There hasnt been a revolution in my lifetime in physics, I hope the next ~30 years will erect one so I can witness it
  3. Exactly. I was hoping PrimalMinister can come to this conlusion on his own. Its worh noting that many people tend to make (wrong) distinctions between people and nature.
  4. Where do you draw the line between something natural and not natural?
  5. Well, theres no way of arguing with that one.
  6. In case anyone forgot what its all about here it is:
  7. @swansont ”Implications about others' intelligence being low” The question is whether or not youre down with Arj Baker. After all this is the quintessence of this oftopic split thread.
  8. "When Huang’s paper landed in Mathieu’s inbox, her first reaction was “uh-oh,” she said. “When a problem has been around 30 years and everybody has heard about it, probably the proof is either very long and tedious and complicated, or it’s very deep.” She opened the paper expecting to understand nothing. But the proof was simple enough for Mathieu and many other researchers to digest in one sitting. “I expect that this fall it will be taught — in a single lecture — in every master’s-level combinatorics course,” she messaged over Skype" https://www.quantamagazine.org/mathematician-solves-computer-science-conjecture-in-two-pages-20190725/ 30 years of failure by prominent mathematicians and a simple solution that even I can understand at the end. Fascinating that something like this can happen in modern science.
  9. I hope you never make it to the last level as this would inevitably strip you of your cool. Your image as the guy from the clip in my head is now solidified. Teach me master.
  10. Dude you replied to me with the same clip 3 years ago in some religious thread, remember? You can send it to me every week though, I love it!
  11. Looks like Prometheus passed with flying colors and he is now a level 99 Lama. I’d be spitting fire if in his place, good job Prometheus.
  12. Tolerate can also mean not letting your emotions out, keep your high ground and use it to to outsmart people. Ofcourse „tolerate” can mean a thousand other things - what did you mean? Getting along with people means tolerating a lot untill you find a nishe to minimize the manipulation to a minimum. What bothers me personally is having to manipulate people and myself for that matter to keep things intact - its just not possible to go full throttle without serious consequences. I have a neighbour who let go recently...he parades in his robe with a bottle in his hand at 10am in the apartment garage not knowing if his Maclaren is his anymore. It never leaves the garage btw because it can’t due to too low suspension...it came on a trailer 6 months ago and thats that. He refuses to tolerate anyone and anything and he is completely content with himself. Hes got at least 6 other cars and a twenty something girlfriend being 60+. I think once you decide to go the intolerance route, whatever the circumstances you end up alone. Inevitably.
  13. Please don’t. Sporty wasn’t classy enough but there are worse than her.
  14. I had a crush on Shania Twain in the 90’s. I guess that makes me a country & western expert.
  15. His daughter is probably biting her nails so her father doesn’t write yet another book.
  16. We watched Stranger Things already, the 3rd season is better than the 2nd imo. The Orville was awesome I hope they make more.
  17. Its been a week here, skin is peeling of my shoulders and I’m officialy an african with blue eyes. I also have indigestion from all the great food theyre serving to which I cant say no...and my feet are burnt. One more week of this „nightmare” and I can finally go back to normality. I’m half way through Frank Herbert’s „Dune” which I never read who knows why. Oh and I hate „Ouzo” with its aniseed taste @MigL

      @koti

(without surprise) I understand that you are more interested in enjoying holidays than book talking. Yet you mentioned it, so I jumped in with my (rather not valuable) "input". Perhaps you will see what I meant if/when you get to IV. "God Emperor of Dune", V. "Heretics of Dune" and VI. "Chapterhouse: Dune"..

I found something interesting this evening while our 3 year was playing in the sand at a beach party with one of my flashlights which has a strong magnet in the tailcap. Earlier today we went for another car trip around the towns and beaches in the Kos island and my partner complained that her feet got horribly dirty. Weirdly black dirty...we just assumed its the volcanic dust but its in fact incredibly fine iron fillings. And when I say fine, its so fine it got through the first O-ring of my double O-ring whaterproof flashlight. Once its on the magnet it behaves like regular iron fillings on a magnet but when I got it off, man I’ve never seen iron pieces so fine - pure dust. Suddenly I realized that theres a reason for poor electrical infrastructure around here - transformers on poles shooting sparks everywhere, abandoned cars on sides of roads, etc. This stuff must get into everything eventually, I hope our devices will survive. Tomorrow I’ll take my son and we’ll gather some more to bring back home :)

I have some volcanic sand, black sand, that has lots of magnetic particles in it.. .

  18. I’m eagerly waiting for the next season of „Ozark”
  19. Your bio on amazon states youre an autodidact with zero formal education in physics and mathematics. What on earth made you think you can write something meaningful on extremely complex subjects with zero formal knowledge? This is a sincere question, I want to know what made you decide you will spill out 5 books on QM physics without any education. In your place, if I had the money to pay publishers to publish my pseudoscience crap, I’d rather sponsor a student or a university somewhere. Instead, youre spreadig misinformation paying for it with your own money. What a horrible thing to do.
  20. Find the will and mental strenght to admit you need to see a doctor. Everyrhing after that will be easier than it is now. I’ve seen individuals with that certain type of mental issue joke about it themselves. While still having the symptoms but after they were diagnosed and treated that is.
  21. Four dimensional spacetime geometry is what General Relativity models, what do you mean by „quantum dimensional geometry” and „quantum dimensional mathematics/physics” and what does climate change have to do with all this? This and the rest of the post seems like concept salad.
  22. I know you didn’t claim that. I’m just saying that anything in our Universe needs to obey energy conservation which prevents perpetual devices.
  23. Conservation of Energy prevents any engine from creating more energy (or keep it equal) than its put into it. Energy put into any engine will end up in work done with heat and friction produced on the side. Isolating a system like this from total Universe entropy would mean you would have to take the engine out of this Universe which is kind of ridiculous.
