How to disprove these creationist claims?
koti replied to HovindSlantedMouth's topic in Speculations
I would add that it is a futile task to prove or disprove an assertion to someone who is strongly bound emotionally. Lack of knowledge driven by primitve fear is such a strong motivator that attemtps at coherent discussion are useless in most cases. -
All 14 short episodes take about 1 hour to watch, the first one is really short, takes only 2 minutes. I'm learning a lot from these: Edit: These series deal with PHD level math knowledge which correlates directly in this case to modern physics, I find this series digestable having no background in math or physics and having no academic background. I recommend this to anyone who's a math semi-moron like me who wants to learn.

Thanks for the example Janus, I must have had a momentary lapse of reason.

I must say that you Sir are an expert on complex thought patterns. I’m reading the above for the 5th time and I’m still having problems with absorbing it.
-
I'm afraid that your nophysicsknowledge 5th force can be explained by simple Newtonian physics. Do you care to learn?

Yes. The lashes went over each other in his post and I can't see sh**.

Burn it. Burn it all.

I would suggest you start by learning how TCPIP works. Learn the basics of networking first then go into learning what makes modern routing switches tick. All the modern protocols and technologies that go into the modern networking infrastructure. Then go into learning how to code, it won’t help you much with „hacking” if you don’t know the networking basics first. Please note that „hacking” is nothing more than breaking in and steeling, it doesn’t matter if you do it in real life or in the virtual world, its against the law all the same and you will suffer the consequences if you break the law.

Do we have a TV expert on the forum who can help out in choosing a TV?

Agreed. Although I’m sure the algorithms figured out by now that I’m too stubborn to be influenced by anything That actually sounds really cool. You should have played along and asked for loads of money for the information you „have” They couldn’t prosecute you once it would come out you’re not a spy and you got nothing. -

If you’re not Jeff Bezos whom you are not, I presume it must have been love/relationship related? I’m neither Jeff Bezos nor do I carry a risk of love related spying so I should be fine. In case of someone actually spying on me the worst can happen is the rest of the world knowing the kind of porn I watch and what torrents I sometimes download, I don’t think thats worth an effort for anyone to hack me. -

I sincerely hope I can get to a point in my life in which someone would want to go through such measures to do that to me -

I was taught by my former boss who is a networking guru/professor that securing the first device in the network chain is the key. I would presume that all home appliances including TV's are vulnerable to attacks but having a well configured and secured access point/switch/router at home would be too much fuss for the attacker to tamper with it, I would presume he/she would look for easier targets out there instead. -

Thankyou both, it looks like I'll go for the SAMSUNG UN65NU8000. -
We will be switching from a 43” 720p Pioneer plasma PDP436XDE. The TV is too small for our new place and its only 720p. I payed a small fortune for that damn thing in 2007, time to move on. Looking at getting 65” for under 2K USD. We need to use it primarilly for Netflix, movies from the PC and MS Office work, would like to get a screen which will be less prone to pixel burn than our current Pionneer Plasma. I was looking at the Samsung UE65NU8042 but maybe I could do better? Any siggestions from someone up to date on these things are welcome.

You can raise money with those?

Perhaps it would be easier for the OP to accept the definition of time in physics if he understands that both time and distance are relative depending on the observers reference frame. Intuitively you wouldn’t want to look for tangible properties of a meter or a mile, the same goes for time but I guess its a little less intuitive.

Not entirely, you seem to get it perfectly well. It was semi-stale though considering the context I agree. I have a hunch that hyper and beecee will not be loosing too much sleep over this.

Its a fairly common joke to purposely confuse them.

Didn’t know Austria had indigenous people. Happy Austria day to you too @beecee
