Man I don’t know if this is funny...it’s amusing in a way and meaningful for sure but that s*** is scary not funny.

Could you clarify the way you use the word logic? It’s a colloquially used word in everyday life and it could mean a lot of things, I wonder how you correlate it with the subject at hand.

As long there is lighting inside the incubator there is power inside which you can use for powering the GoPro, should be a fairly easy modification.
-
I presume the timescale of the experiment is days? Maybe a GoPro with additional power supply or harvest the power from inside of the incubator. 32C is no problem for any camera, a GoPro would give you great quality but you can get one of the cheaper cameras from China. You need extreme wide angle lens or even a „fish eye” lens.

Its not mine studiot nor it is zapatos’s. I’m sory but you’re going to need to bring this up with the Yeti himself. I’m sure he/she will be more than glad to go over everything with you, I’ll send you a PM with Yeti’s bank account number. Just make sure the SWIFT/IBAN code is correct as Yeti resides far, far away... in Cyprus Heaven.
-
Ofcourse its infitesimally small, I thought its so obvious that it doesn’t need mentioning. Thank you for poining it out though zapatos, your logic is as flawless as it is impregnable.

The only type of Karma that really exists can be expressed with the saying: "What goes around, comes around" If you keep on being a d***k for long enough, eventually it'll catch up with you. @Lyudmilascience I'm very sory to hear about the kid you used to babysit. The best you can do is what you're doing - telling people about it.

Similar to John Cuthber’s example with god creating an impossible task for itself but here, one can always deflect with god never wanting (as opposed to not being able) to reveal itself. It would only be rational for an omnipotent god not to do that...which makes an even stronger case for my miniature Yeti’s, as we all know they’re omnipotent too.

Thanks for the respect Scott, I haven’t really earned it here but thanks anyway, I guess... As for the Yeti’s or whatever other entity for which there is no evidence, it doesn’t matter if you plug in the invisibility factor or not, the example/analogy works just fine with or without it. Think about it... You’re never going to get to see the miniature Yeti in your cupboard and it doesn’t matter if the reason is that it has invisibility capabilities or it just decides to never reveal itself to you - just like god/gods decide to never reveal themselves to you or anyone else.

You're just a speck of dust in an endless void, asking questions.

Scott I wasn’t trying to disprove the notion of a creator and I think you know that very well. Take it easy man...and don’t look out for those yeti’s and monkeys in your cupboard

Its fine without the invisible quality too as the minature Yeti can always appear tomorrow. Also I havent added anything, Strange added the invisible quality which is fine but my analogy is fine ’n dandy without it.

I learned a few interesting things today from this public lecture by Nima Arkani-Hamed. The first 45 minutes are especially interesting as he gives an easilly digestible picture of modern particle physics and some interesting insights on symmetries, different aproaches to spacetime, updated Feynman diagrams and more:

Theory about general relativity and quantum physics
koti replied to Edgard Neuman's topic in Speculations
I wasn’t aware that „curled” is an analogous faux-pas to warped/curved, thanks for pointing it out. As for the OP, I think there might be certain clues in existing well tested frameworks like GR and QM that show as weird or funny features which might be an indication of some more fundamental reality which lies underneath. One of those funny features might be the strength of gravity compared to other forces. -

I’ve been watching from the sidelines too and he’s indeed got interesting directions in his points. He clearly stated he doesn’t have enough math knowledge to continue onto creating a model, I think hes asking for help. The idea that gravity might leak into small curled up dimentions (I think this is where this all leads too) is far fetched but it has been brought up before by physicists and just might be a thing. I can’t remember who brought this up, it might have been Penrose or Hawking in one of their books. -
Since those norms were/are starting to be eaten alive I was trying to steer onto the intended original vibe of the OP to save a perfectly good thread.

If you checked and the cupboard was empty, the miniature Yeti’s are either invisible like Strange pointed out or you need to check again tomorrow, you never know when they might show up. Either way I can sit here forever and keep you convinced that they’re there somewhere and there is no way you can deny it/prove otherwise. That’s one of the types of logic which is behind of how religions work and I think the analogy stretches exactly as far as it needs to.
-
Ah, but can you be sure there will be no miniature Yeti’s in your cupboard tomorrow? Yep, thats it.

Wow, you were praying at 3? I think I was barely talking at 3 and I certainly weren’t at sunday school at that age. My kid is 26 months right now and although he already knows the concept of 1,2,3,4,5 (hes only starting to talk with mixed results) I’d never consider giving him any traces of my views on religion and I hope I will be able to keep it up for as long as I can to keep him autonomous in his thinking. You’re in DE right? I have some friends in East Berlin and my partner has experience with German culture (she had a German boyfriend for many years before me) From what I talked about this with my partner, the Church in Germany is taxed like any other business and barely anyone gives donations at Sunday Mass. This would imply that the indoctrination is not so strong in Germany as for example in Poland where I live. Is this true or do I have faulty information? Edit: Oh, oh, I clicked your profile, I confused you with an other member, please disregard my mumbling.

So whats the difference between a miniature Yeti in your closet and the existence of god/gods? They both seem to have an equal amount of evidence going for them which is zero. Why would one be treated as plausible and the other as ridiculous?
-
Not really...I don’t know how exactly the universe works and I have no problem with admiting it. In fact, it would be foolish of me to claim that I do know, I just don’t. I do know something about it though...I, a single person know more about the universe then the combined knowledge of all the people on earth 300 years ago and that is entirely because humans are capable to do science and work collaboratively and pass the knowledge to next generations. As for god/gods being a personal preference and like you say „it cannot be known either way” its like saying that you have a miniature Yeti in your closet and since I can’t prove that you don’t, therefore miniature Yeti’s might exist, period.

When I was 17 or 18 a group of para-psychology students came to a lake cottage/camp where I stayed with my folks. They gave free hypnosis sessions, I was very interested in things like that back then so I volunterred and went on to have a 1 hour session consisting of 3 of the students (they were impressive to me at that time) and were very into preparing everything properly, took great care of being empathetic to me while the girl was putting me into the state of hypnosis. She was very nice to me and she was also extremely atractive, kept on gently caressing me so...I went with it and started to make up shit like I can see clearly that I’m a in a village in my previous life, I’m holding a hammer in my hands and I’m a blacksmith, etc, etc. I’m a pretty good story teller and guess what, she kept on caressing me so I went with it. And she knew exactly what to do to make the session „a success”. Needless to say that when a girl was being hypnotised a 6,3 handsome student was „hypnotising” her, it took me a while to understand whats going on...the students stayed there for a few days and eventually I got drunk and got into a huge argument with them and they left. They were too young to be cold and calculated in their doings, some of them probably went on to become full time assholes in their later life, some of them like you changed direction. As for the placebo effect, I don’t doubt there are mechanisms in the human body capable of self healing to a degree. When I was lying on an operating table last year and one of the nurses told me to pray, I went ballistic and have drawn strenght from that in order to heal faster after the operation As for the Holy Ghost and your confusion, don’t worry, its me man. Please don’t be confused anymore, its all going to be good. /sarcasm. Edit: I was 16.
