  1. What would you say are the reasons for these „unwanted” emotions to exist?
  2. Without anger, hate, fear we’d all be dead as a species. I certainly would be if I hadn’t had these emotions in me when I was getting the hard treatment from life. There are worse things in this world than getting run over by an insurance company you know...when you are brought to an edge it is vital to have these emotions in you to stay sane/alive.

    Today I Learned

Today I learned there are „right hand rules” related to electricity. This video explains it...this guy is crazy, hilarious and scientifically correct in his videos:
  4. I hope that when the experiment is finalized and shows entaglement as the result confirming indirectly that gravity is in fact quantized, these two guys who came up with the idea get a Nobel. What a witty idea they came up with. Great find Strange, thanks. Edit: BTW, why does it have to be a diamond in the experiment and not regular carbon or some other element? Flip for it?
  5. I don’t know about you dimreepr and interested but for me, humour is a vital part of inner peace. Having said that, it is worth mentioning that being too content with yourself might be a catalyst for becoming single.
  6. We are not exactly sure whether space is quantized but implications of Relativity are that planck length is the smallest possible size beyond which a concept of a point becomes fuzzy. Untill we have an alternate model it would look like space is composed of a finite set of points - if space if finite that is. If space is dimentionally infinite it would seem that a statement of infinite amount of points contributing to creating an infinite space is a trivial one. I’d go with „We don’t know”
  7. No. You're supposed to lay out the discussion subject yourself (which you didn't) without referring us to your facebook account which shows a video of Hitler giving a mute speech to a tune of a little girl singing "warum bin ich so fröhlich?"
  8. How does that happen, any evidence for this? Sounds to me more like your mind makes things up to find cause & effect where it's not there.
  9. I'd be skeptical, this might be helpful: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zero-point_energy
  10. I fixed the vacuum cleaner but I feel like a walking germ even after a shower. This thing needs to go, I’m kind of disappointed I fixed it.

  11. @Furyan5 You inserted your own statement into between what I said and quoted me on it making it look like I said it. This is unnacceptable, I’ve reported this to the moderators and I’m refraining from commenting for the sake of the thread untill mods take care of this.
  12. It doesn’t. Because your vague answers leave too much to interpretation.
  13. What is the difference between engaging against clean energy and selling your children for profit? Both are economically correct according to your "logic", could you explain where the misrepresentation lies?
  14. According to your logic, it also doesn’t make sense economicaly to have children. Children cost money, lots of it over long periods of time. It would make more sense economicaly to sell your children once you have them to a human trafficker for profit. Would you say that this makes sense?
  15. Lets see...in your previous threads your stance was let people from 3rd world countries starve to death because money and imigrants, climate models are not there or cannot be trusted so we should disregard that problem and now you insist on not promoting clean energy because it doesn’t make sense economically. Does that sound about right with regard to your views or did I miss something?
  16. Yep, that's why I added: "On the other hand, the ones who left or got thrown out with a lot of downvotes were not the people I would like to learn anything from" Still, this whole downvote thing is not not something I would defend with my life...I'd be just concerned that if we get rid of them, Janus's posts or yours for that matter would get lost in a sea of idiots who would feel more encouraged.
  17. I’ve known people here who left on their own while having virtually only up votes to their account with a ratio of posts to upvotes 2:1. They leave mainly because of politics being a big part of scienceforums and not because they got a lot of downvotes. On the other hand, the ones who left or got thrown out with a lot of downvotes were not the people I would like to learn anything from. What Im saying is, the downvotes are not an issue in this case.
  18. I don’t know Eise, if you promise to keep the lights on? I got a family you know

    I use Reuters.
  20. There was a time around Christmas last year in Germany when energy prices went negative: https://mobile.nytimes.com/2017/12/25/business/energy-environment/germany-electricity-negative-prices.html?referer=https://www.google.pl/
  21. They might be struggling with contacting us just like we are struggling with contacting them. By better things to do I mean we (earthlings) will not be putting out trillions of dollars on some endeavour which is not guaranteed to succeed...or even if guaranteed to succeed - they might be in a similar situation. After all, energy costs money and a finite amount of both has to lead to priorities emerging. They might also be making contact with other civilizations closer to them - hundreds of millions or billions of light years from here. Type 3 civilization if it exists is statistically too far away for any chance of communication with us...unless we go the "Interstellar" route but lets face it, as amusing and interesting as the film is, its too far fetched even for speculations. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing I would want more than live the day when contact happens, it's just that the universe is so ridiculously large and relativity is not helping.
  22. I’m not saying that a potencial alien civilization is lacking curiosity, I think that they would have to be explorers and scientists and that means they’d be very much curious of whats around them. What I’m saying is that the vastness of the universe and Einsteins relativity prevents the civilizations from meeting often and that is probably our case. By the time a civilization gets our signals sent from the SETI program we will be long gone...and they will not get it because they will be long gone too. Thats probably what an ant thinks
  23. Let me give you an example...if you were to sacrifice all your energy and time to observe an ant which you are not even sure is there, would you do that or would you spend your life on more productive things?
