Does LiAlH4 react with formaldehyde? If so, what's the product? My book focuses on LiAlH4 reacting with other things but doesn't mention formaldehyde.

Hi, At my college organic is in 2 courses. In the first course we dealt with alkanes/alkenes/alkynes, functional groups, SN1/2 E1/2 reactions etc. In the second course we've dealt so far with unknown identification by IR, MS, UV, and NMR, conjugated dienes, benzene rings & other aromatics, and reactions involving alcohols/phenols/ethers.
