Here is a data sheet for 1n400 to 1n4007. http://www-micrel.deis.unibo.it/DATA_SHEETS/1N4001.pdf. They all handle about 1A, but peak voltages vary. They could not go any- where that 15A is required.

I remember being told, some years ago, that here in the UK because so many clocks run directly off the mains frequency any deviation over a period of time is corrected by raising or lowering it to bring the clocks back to the correct time. When searching for confirmation, which I could not find, I came accross a south african company which was seeking a change in legislation to allow it to vary its frequency by up to 10%, because of power generation difficulties

Ryanj: If that is true, end of argument. They cheat , but expect the punters not to! So go ahead suckers, count your asses off and good luck to you. Stuff the casinos. An eye for an eye!
-
What puzzles me is, how do they know you are card counting? Do they have trained mindreaders?
-
The gambling dens (aka casinos) set the cheating precedent by rigging the rules to ensure the house always wins over time. They have the smarts, the punters are dumb. The only reason gambling is legal is because of the huge tax take. So if the punter retaliates by trying to even the odds, how is it cheating? Let us just call it tax avoidence if you are squeamish. The whole betting and gaming industry is a scam. The casinos have not a shred of moral justification for their activities, so how can they bleat about the poor mug punter cheating? It is the punter that needs the protection, if only from himself.

As I remember, it is for several reasons: The wagging tails knock things off tables, (so tails are inconvenient). They get dirty. (inconvenient) Tail breakage is not uncommon in some highly inbred species. In some breeds, for show purposes, it is is regarded as visually desirable. Long tails are vulnerable for hunting and retrieving breeds, loosely termed "working dogs", getting snagged in the undergrowth. So if you are uncircumcised, dont wave it about where there are ornaments on low furniture, or go rummaging through the undergrowth in the nude.
-
In the UK, there has been legislation passed recently severely curtailing the docking of dogs' tails, because the warm and cuddly brigade campaigned that it is "cruel, barbaric, painful and inhuman and cruel to animals". I wonder how many of them eagerly consent to their own offsprings' penis being docked. They must think their dogs are more important than their children. Talk about double standards.....

There is a wealth of circumstantial evidence, but as it cannot be formalised and quantised and be measured by the scientific method, it will remain a mystery. A real problem for "The Singularity" to crack? Can't wait!

Questions: (a) The bridge flexes/moves. The movement is used to generate useful energy. The movement of the bridge is reduced, ultimately to an extent where the bridge becomes a rigid structure. So 1, where then is the movement that generates useful power? 2, How much of the movement can be used before the bridge becomes effectively rigid? (b) Generating power from river or tidal flow restricts the flow, so 1, the more power you take out, the less flow remains to generate power. 2, Who compensates the upstream flood victims inundated because the river does not now drain? Crackpots who want to restrict the flow of, say, the Missisippi and Thames should beware threatened citizen lynch mobs!

Never mind the wedding rings, what about gold teeth?

Thor: Notwithstanding the opinions of some others, I find your literary style refreshingly vivid and readable. I also like your irreverent and iconoclastic approach. Do you find some sympathy with the statement that "time is a man-made construct for the benefit of present mathematical models, and that construct may be a hindrance to deeper understanding"? Or have I missed your drift. If you are chipping away at the bedrock of standard scientific methodology, I'm afraid you will get the normal knee-jerk responses. Good luck.

It resets the on-cartridge chip that stores ink volume info. Your cartridge may not need a resetter, it can be done manually, but it looks fiddly..... Try here for a method for type 56 cartridges...... http://www.stratitec.com/inkrefill/support/inkreset2.php
-
this site gives good "how to" instructions for hp type 56 cartridges, troubleshooting. Dont know if your cartridge needs a chip resetter, it is not mentioned. Do more googling on "hp type 56 refilling" http://www.oddparts.com/ink/hp56.htm Good luck.
-
Did you also run several recharging/cleaning cycles to refill the tube from tank to printhead? When all fails, you may have to spend money on a chip resetter, bad luck. Refilling different cartridges is more art and practice than science. Very frustrating and mucky! Manufacturers want it to be as difficult as possible. Their profit.
-
If you did not already know, because the cartridge has an internal sponge, it takes time for the new ink to "revive" the empty dry sponge. It may take a day to soak through properly. I have found that gently pressurising the cartridge through the filling hole by mouth or air-filled syringe can speed up the process. Don't expect this cartridge to work immediately.
-
To attempt an answer, it is essential to know printer model and cartridge number. Normally if the cartridge is empty, the printer firmware and software knows, and prevents any printing activity. If the printer attempts to print but no ink goes to the paper, it may may even be that the fresh ink is not getting to the printhead. often, simple refilling is not sufficient, and a "priming" procedure is required. All printers and cartridges require different refilling regimes, in my experience. My present printer is an HP930c, and the 42ml black cartridge is on its 10th refill. I think there are only two basic types of ink, dye and pigment. The dye should always work, but the print quality and colour fastness will vary.

The justification there, then is that as its quick and painless, and it is within my irrational belief system, it must be O,K. then. Is that it? Oh boy, that is a line of reasoning that can be applied to other things, too, like: Labial mutilation. Compulsory abortion for population control. The death penalty. Compulsory euthenasia. Eugenics Selective breeding. You may say I have chosen extreme examples, but I have already stated my opposition in principle. It is up to you to selectively justify the acts in order of severity and say where you draw the line.
-
I have already said' date=' post#17, that these are also mutilations in principle. If you want to argue over matters of [i']degree[/i] rather than principle, then go ahead. Justify mutilation for religious purposes. Just say "I believe forced circumcision is perfectly good and proper. Full stop."
-
Why be sorry? If you think that forced infant mutilation is wrong in principle, then you have to criticise, and name, the institutions that insist on it as some sort of ticket to heaven. A heaven that demands that sort of blood sacrifice is not a worthy one, surely.
-
I have also heard that some people consider genital warts, on either sex, are an aid to coital pleasure. Should they, circumcision, and labial excision be seen as sex aids and a voluntarily desirable fashion acessory?

"Prisoner in the dock, you stand charged with grievous bodliy harm, how do you plead, guilty or not guilty?" "Not guilty, milud, I only sliced off his foreskin. How was I to know he would nearly bleed to death?" "Is that all? case dismissed."
