Without the moon the earth would have a constant spin therefore a day would always be 24 hours, but the moon has slowed down the day considerably since it's inception. Keep in mind that moon is also moving away from us every year by a few inches. The moon causes the tides to rise and fall which have a direct effect on how oceans flow. Ocean flow creates help create vast aquatic ecosystems, which in return help humans(via oxygen production and food source).
