Hello, I am having trouble answering this question from biomolecules unit lecturer at university:
"If you used 1 microgram human genomic DNA for PCR amplification of 350 bp fragment of ALDH2 gene, after 30 cycles of PCR reaction, how much of the PCR products (in weight) should be yield if all the reagents are not exhausted and the PCR reaction is not saturated?"
I know how to calculate copy number using the equation "number of copies = ( amount * 6.022x1023) / (length * 1x109 * 650)", but i'm not sure whether that equation is what I need to use here?
I'm guessing the variables I have as options to put into an equation are:
1 microgram of DNA (or 1000 nanogram)
350 bp fragment (1bp=650 daltons)
30 PCR reaction cycles
Any help would be much appreciated! I don't really have a clue what I'm doing here!
