  1. I didn't imply that I thought it was complicated. Just wanted helpful suggestions to write my SWOT as this project was worth 50% of my final grade. Thanks for explaining to me that it wasn't complicated though.
  2. Thanks for the advice, I actually gave that I try today and reached out to a professor about doing an internship. It looks promising and he's getting back to me on when I can start! I wasn't originally thinking in that direction but I'm glad you suggested it because now it looks like I will be doing an internship at an exciting facility and helping with some research.
  3. Yes, that SWOT. As far as I can tell, the SWOT is for our project. A friend took this last year and the SWOT was geared towards the project he did. I have never done one and this is the only independent lab project we have done, where we design the experiment and write the protocol. A professor gave me a couple ideas for weaknesses, but I'm still fumbling with this a bit.
  4. Hi all, I'm finishing college in 4 weeks and as much as I would like to go straight to university, it's just not something I can afford right away. I plan to spend some time working and saVing, but during that time I do not want to get rusty. I'm used to being very busy, I take two full time programs and I have two part time jobs. Once school ends, things are going to slow down and I want to continue to take either free online courses, or cheap courses, or simply read textbooks of subjects in science that interest me (and could be beneficial in my field). I'm looking for suggestions to online resources, courses, and reasonably priced texts. My two fields of study are Environmental Technology and Biotechnology. All suggestions welcome, thanks in advance.
  5. For the first, if you look up how to cite in ... you will see many citing sources and get the answer to your number one.
  6. Hi all, I have to do some tests on my fermentation project today and after I am expected to write a SWOT analysis. This is something we have never done, and we haven't really talked about it in lectures. Does anyone have any pointers on things to include? I will briefly explain what the project is about in case that will help direct suggestions. It's an independent fermentation project. I decided to put different amounts of both garlic cloves and minced garlic in sealed jars of raw honey to see if I could have any impact on pH. The reason for this is that sometimes honey has Clos clostridium botulinum spores, and they favour a certain pH. I was hoping to see some variation in pH to prove that if one was to not follow the recipe they could be potentially adjusting that pH. I'm also doing spore staining on the raw honey. Those are the two things I'm testing for.

  8. Hi everyone, I'm new here. I am about to graduate a 3 year environmental technology program, and two year biotechnology program. Everything is wrapping up in 4 weeks and I've started looking for work, but I'm still at a bit of a loss for what I want to pursue as a career. And I am still going back and forth about pursuing a degree. Does anyone have any suggestions, or advice? Thanks in advance. Also, I apologize if this post is in the wrong place, I didn't specifically see Environmental Science as a forum and wasn't sure if I could post this here.
