I was thinking of what makes me most happy in my day to day life and I would have to say art. I realised that the games I like to play or the things I like to watch are all somehow connected to art. (nothing sophisticated or pretentious) I paint as a hobby in my free time while listening to music and I love watching beautifully made visual documentaries - all art connected I would say.

I didn't say it is. You seem to have answered your own question. We can now debate the term need. Or we can talk about how good marketing strategies are and how they trained your mind and that of many others to have the feeling that the hole inside and the feeling of unhappiness or incompleteness can disappear if only you would get your hands on this new see-through toaster that lets you see exactly at what stage of development your toast is.

Hello forum, I am having a slow day at work today and as I was reading the below article, my mind began to wonder. It would really help the conversation if you could go through the short paper copied below but also linked just under. I didn't want to add just a few quotes as it would be confusing. I was trying to find a ridiculous way to measure if lets say indeed c would change it's value. Let's wander a bit and take the assumption that starting tomorrow c will immediately change it's value. I mean what confuses me is that I could think of many barbaric ways to prove to you that c indeed changed or not given the above assumption. An example is given in the article that we use a 1m stick to measure c. The author disregards this option as c is not less fundamental than the length of the stick so we would not know if c indeed changed or if the length of the stick changed. I agree but if we would introduce a third barbaric contraption to measure time (will not mention gravity as it also travels at c), lets take particle decay. Would particle (not radioactive decay) decay hypothetically change if c would change? If we measure that today a neutron mean lifetime is 885.7 seconds and we measure tomorrow, (after the supposed change in c), would we get different result? Name Mass (MeV) Mean lifetime Neutron / Antineutron 939.6 885.7 I know this is all just silly speculation but I would like to open a discussion on how best to approach the assumption that c would change over time. Just to add to the discussion, we measure a second as "the duration of 9,192,631,770 periods of the radiation corresponding to the transition between the two hyperfine levels of the ground state of the caesium-133 atom" (at a temperature of 0 K). http://newt.phys.unsw.edu.au/~dzuba/varyc.html

I think it's more about how you use this nuclear power. And to be fair, N Korea is not know for it's rational decisions. USA does not threaten other countries with missile launches. Not lately anyway (Except for the aforementioned). This is a N Korean message to it's (only?) ally - China. "One must clearly understand that the D.P.R.K.'s line of access to nukes for the existence and development of the country can neither be changed nor shaken[...] And that the D.P.R.K. will never beg for the maintenance of friendship with China, risking its nuclear program which is as precious as its own life, no matter how valuable the friendship is... China should no longer try to test the limits of the D.P.R.K.'s patience[...] China had better ponder over the grave consequences to be entailed by its reckless act of chopping down the pillar of the D.P.R.K.-China relations." Don't forget that China represents over 90% of N Korea's international trade. You can just google who N. Korea threatened with a nuclear missile strike in the last few years but the list is pretty long and worrisome. Australia : https://www.news.com.au/world/asia/north-korea-threatens-australia-with-nuclear-strike-over-us-allegiance/news-story/fa28ccb9eaaff6c02f5c12bdc19bc227 Japan: "North Korea issued its first explicit threat to Japan this week, claiming it would sink the entire country with a nuclear bomb in fresh verbal conflict with the United Nations. " https://www.standard.co.uk/news/world/north-korea-sparks-outrage-and-warning-of-unprecedented-threat-as-it-fires-missile-over-japan-a3621686.html USA: North Korea also suggested the US should be “beaten to death like a rabid dog”. This was a reference to the “heinous resolution” a 15-member security council made by voting unanimously in support of a US-drafted plan condemning the missile test over Japan. The resolution also imposed measures that include a ban on North Korean textile imports and restrictions on oil exports to the country. “Let’s reduce the US mainland into ashes and darkness. Let’s vent our spite with mobilisation of all retaliation means which have been prepared till now,” the Korea Asia-Pacific peace committee said in response. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-41242992 N Korea also isn't big on human rights, healthcare and living conditions so the fact that they are spending resources on Military Nuclear programs isn't a good sign.

Would you say that Norway or Iceland has more chances of going to war or being attacked than Germany, France, Poland or whatever EU country? It's not really connected with the EU group. They are just peaceful right now.
-
Like I said, don't confuse the EU with what it isn't. I think something closer to what you describe that is already in place is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Nations The United Nations (UN) is an intergovernmental organization that was tasked to maintain international peace and security, develop friendly relations among nations, achieve international co-operation and be a centre for harmonizing the actions of nations. What we are talking about is: European Union (EU) is a political and economic union of 28 member states that are located primarily in Europe.[13] The EU has developed an internal single market through a standardised system of laws that apply in all member states in those matters, and only those matters, where members have agreed to act as one. EU policies aim to ensure the free movement of people, goods, services and capital within the internal market,[14] enact legislation in justice and home affairs and maintain common policies on trade,[15] agriculture,[16]fisheries and regional development.[17] For travel within the Schengen Area, passport controlshave been abolished.[18] A monetary union was established in 1999 and came into full force in 2002 and is composed of 19 EU member states which use the euro currency. As you can see EU main focus is economy, trade and economical progress. Of course peace is a necessity for this but that is not the main focus.

It's a lot like saying Pepsi should just join Coca Cola. PoLatm would then have monopol on the fizzy drink industry and it would be beneficial for both sides. The thought is really nice though. (I know they used to be one company long time ago. Please don't bring that up as a counterargument haha)
-
dim, it's not about not yet. Many countries just don't want to join because it would have a negative effect. These 3 countries have very strong economies. What does not yet mean here? We are waiting for them to be more friendly and uninterested in wealth? See above Russia has many topics to change before adhering to EU. Again guys, please understand that when we say EU we should be using the current agreed meaning. It's not like I don't want these countries to join because I don't like them. Russia for example does not have the same regulations and laws that are required for a number of topics including: Economy Human Rights Military Global Politics in general.
-
No I mean EU is a economical union as well. It's not so easy to adhere to EU. Many member states have not yet even adopted the European currency. Romania, Poland etc. I agree for peace friendship and inclusion but what you guys are describing is some new meaning for the EU group. Political tension aside, the point of this is that there are certain standards needed to be able to join and to have a single market. Moldova for example (if we take these standards into consideration) cannot join EU yet. (political reasons aside) Also I think changing Moldavian currency (moldavian LEu) to Euro would have a crushing effect on their economy. But also politically speaking: https://www.rferl.org/a/european-parliament-slams-moldova-as-a-state-captured-by-oligarchic-interests-/29600720.html

That's not how any of this works guys...

Hmm, I heard of this interpretation before. I guess we will just have to wait (10^67 years) and see if it's true.

When it comes to diet and health there are as many opinions on the web as number of websites but I will explain my way of thinking about this. (maybe less about the insulin part) I am passionate about combat sports and I follow them and the athletes taking part as I also used to train (never competed) and I have friends competing at a high level. There are not many scientific papers of the subject you are bringing up but I can tell you that fasting and training is never recommended or followed by any high level athlete/team as it is just dangerous. I am not sure why you chose to fast and starve yourself (religious reasons?) but I am pretty sure this was not recommended by a doctor or sport nutritionist and I mention athletes and sports after reading your description of your health-style that sounds pretty active. No we can argue and share articles with little scientific proof to them but you can't deny that at the highest levels of sports if the highest amount of money and the biggest stakes and I can guarantee you that except for religious purposes (Khabib Nurmagomedov for example or other Muslim athletes) no one that I ever heard of is fasting for days and especially training high intensity in the same time. I forgot to mention that this also takes place sometimes before the fight in extreme measures for weight-cutting purposes. But this in no way as seen as a healthy process and actually is accompanied by many health problems and is a huge problem in combat sports today. So I don't want you to bring a counter argument to my post by bringing up extreme weight-cutting. I am very curious to see the sources you have that recommend fasting for 3 days.

Well if you follow the title of the thread I guess the doors you will keep open are fast food doors as you great the customers. - Yes, I think I will have fries with that . Jokes aside, don't drop out of highschool. What you do after is debatable but most people would agree that you should finish it.

Oz sayd: "and most govt related jobs members are only allowed to date other members of an equivalent paygrade." I wouldn't call the Clinton thing dating and even if we did, he was impeached because of the Lewinsky scandal so in any way it has nothing to do with what Oz said. Sorry for the off topic. Raider5678 this was one of those not even wrong comments
-
But who do you mean? Clinton?
-
How former? What are you talking about? and what does this add to the current topic.
-
What does that mean? Who did the president date that had a govt related job of different paygrade?
-
Haha good plug. Well following your logic, If everyone thought this way, people would falsely put a woman tag just to get more participants or avoid pi**ing contests. It sounds like a rant but really, considering the type of forum, when discussing ideas/opinions you should have as little unrelated/unnecessary information about the person who you are conversing with as possible. If we are talking about the cosmos I could be a can of baked beans typing and it wouldn't add or take to my argument. In the case that you mentioned where the subject is gender related, I wouldn't find it immoral for a member to give you an opinion and then mentioning their gender so you have the context of their opinion.

Also I think it would make it more difficult to moderate properly as many posts I am sure would be posted in the wrong subsection. I feel like these categories are too unclear. If I want to talk about the history of the Mayan people where should I post this? It could fit in all and in none in the same time.
