  1. Ahaha I saw that on slashdot.. very funny, he did get 2 right, or should i say wrong, in math. btw.. what college doesnt require sat or act for admission?
  2. Thanks for the tips. I'll try them out on my next practice
  3. Thanks for clearing that up, so units digit = 1's place. Now I understand it. I calculated 103^2 and 103^4. It ended in 1, and 9, both acceptable answers. Oh, and it was a grid-in question.
  4. If x is a positive integer, what is one possible value of the units digit of 103^2x after it has been multiplied out. What does that mean?
  5. Oh you actually teach(ed) SAT classes for princeton review? So what are some tricks to scoring well on verbal, specifically the critical reading.. because thats what i'm struggling with. My verbal is in the 600-650 range and i'd like it to be in the 700-750 range. I dont want a large disparity between the verbal score math score. BTW... i have 5 SAT tests from sparknotes, 5 from a garage sale book(ARCO), and 2 from Cliff's Notes, so essentially, i have 12 REAL sats.
  6. I know a lot of you are way past high school but hopefully someone can help me here. I plan on taking the SAT I for the first time next Fall. There's a whole lot of free time in the summer to study for it so who knows some long-term systematic studying techniques that would greatly augment(SAT word) my score? I have the sparknotes SAT and dont wanna buy any more books...Thanx in advance.
  7. nope, i didnt take either calculus test. I took english language AP tuesday and I'm takin us history tommorow, and biology monday.. AP tests are HARD

    Vectors!

Airplane going 310 MPH on a bearing of 225 degrees encounters a 45 MPH wind blowing from 220 degrees. What is the new air speed and bearing needed in order to get to his destination? I calculated 354.85 MPH for the speed and 224.4 degrees bearing. Could someone confirm these answers to be either correct or incorrect??

    Vectors!

All I need to know is if the ground speed is simply 500 mph + 40 mph. I know how to solve triangles with law of sine and cosine to get the bearing.

Well what I really want is help because this is not in the book.. if 540 is right just tell me gosh. anyways, what article are you talkin about? I hope you dont mean that screenname essay. you're right i didnt understand why you would calculate something so incredibly pointless. You act like the mathetmatics for that are difficult or something.

Ok! We're learning how to factor in wind to an airplanes flight plan. I understand (finally) how to find it in a corrected situation. In a non-corrected situation I'm not so sure. Could someone shed some light on this problem.. (test tommorow) Airplane going 500 MPH on a bearing of 260 degrees encounters a 40 MPH wind blowing from 225 degrees. What is the new ground speed needed in order to get to his destination?
  14. Why dont you unban Adam and let him defend himself?
