Yup if you want to kill pheasants in the UK with a gun you need a licence. However to there is no licence available in the UK for killing peasants who have been known to be revolting in the past, causing gentry with guns to shoot them also. Ironically you dont need a prescription for paracetamol which you could kill yourself with unlike the US. The NRA have declared all available force should be used to protect American schools, does this also include the force of law and the ability to change it. Perhaps the NRA are above the law and prosecution because of political support? Just guessing

Am I correct in thinking a gravitational wave is infinite in its range and therefore virtual gravitons must be everywhere in space? So a Virtual photon is a wave that carries a force between point A and B, and is absorbed on arrival but can interact with other virtual photons on route causing repulsion and attraction. Once a virtual photon arrives at its destination it is absorbed, the shape of the virtual photon field is irrelevant. Chicken and the egg scenario A) Virtual gravitons are absorbed by masses in so doing they create space time curvature and a gravitational vacuum for more virtual gravitons to flow into. B) Space time curvature causes virtual gravitons to flow towards a mass where they are absorbed. I am now going to vanish and watch the DVD's in the link you provided. It may take an hour or two. I think I answered this one myself, there is always quantum noise, absolute zero is impossible to achieve because quantum fluctuations exist on average continuously in space everywhere. WTF its the weekend; Space has Quantum Ripples and ROCKS ]

Gun crime is not unique to the US, many other countries have had problems and they all have tightened gun control laws not supplied more guns. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/world-43072571/gun-control-how-countries-around-the-world-introduced-restrictions Is it not about time the US changed its laws on gun control. I understand you can can buy weapons from Walmart with no problem along with the rest of your house hold goods in the US. But Paracetamol are dangerous and you need a prescription from a doctor to buy them. Pharmaceutical companies and Doctors control the flow of drugs in America which could cause you harm if incorrectly used, but the control of guns is against US law and protected by Politicians who receive large funds if they support the lobby groups point of view. What kind of democracy is that. Teachers have enough problems controlling teenagers. Is giving them the right to shoot one or two going to improve classroom behavior. Perhaps I am being soft so flipping the coin and looking inside Trumps head Shooting some lower performing or more disruptive children may improve the class room average performance. If they didnt hand homework in on time shoot the little fuckers. Conversely flipping the coin again if people are taught guns are good from a very early age, are they acceptable in otherwise developed societies. Is this why Trump and many in the US think guns are good, much of the world is insane led by democratically ? elected leaders.

Thanks for that, I think strange said the same with different words above Both the concept of virtual photons and virtual gravitons are interesting. In string theory as in QED the forces are transmitted by virtual particles, which are mathematical constructs. They are not representations of anything observable or even the shape of a field, they represent cause and effect. When pondering a magnetic field line which attracts and repels one has to think of the shape of the wave that causes this effect, just saying it is a virtual particle does not explain the shape of the Quantum disturbance that causes the effect IMO. Particle interactions are often represented as Feynman diagrams, showing for example particle decay from an electron positron collisions etc, is there anything Feynman did showing dark energy or graviton virtual particle interactions. Virtual photons originate from and are absorbed by magnets, are virtual gravitons originating in space similarly absorbed by matter, will this cause more virtual gravitons to move in and fill the gap of the absorbed virtual gravitons. Could both dark energy, and gravity both be caused by virtual particles? Is space made up of virtual particles? can space exist without virtual particles? can there be any such thing as empty space, without virtual particles? 5 dimensional space introduced by Kaluza Klein was an early attempt to unify gravity and electromagnetism https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Five-dimensional_space . How many dimensions are there in space. Does 4 D space time only represent a shadow of reality? How many dimensions can virtual particles exist in at one instant in time, assuming time exists

Are you stating the NRA and other government lobby groups buy votes. Does the US have no laws preventing bribery of officials, and elected representaves. The only reference I can find to do with casablanca and shocked is to do with gambling. “I’m shocked, shocked to find that gambling is going on here!” (The croupier hands him his money.) “…Your winnings, sir.” “Oh, thank you very much!” “Here’s looking at you, kid.”
-
Your president is also according to the OP, which is even more shocking. If a company sold a drug which was found to cause cancer or other life threatening illnesses as a side effect of its benefits, the product would be banned. How is this different to guns which cause death or other life threatening problems.

The graviton is a hypothetical particle that was invisaged to marry QFT with relativity, it was supposed to be a stable particle, spin 2 boson. It is hypothetical and may not exist viewing it as a short lived wave is not in line with string theory are you talking about quantum foam loop gravity. In principle I am a bit uncertain about this, and will no doubt be mulling this over for a while. interesting partly related link https://futurism.com/the-edge-of-physics-do-gravitons-really-exist/

I assume you are taking the piss. Does the law apply to arms manufacturers and the NRA in the USA In most of the world the law is supposed to protect people not guns. It appears that gun manufacturers can sell weapons in the USA to anyone without risk of prosecution. Is it not about time the US constitution was amended to ban guns or at least restrict there availability. I understand the right to bear arms was written into the constitution in a time of conflict, I think that conflict ended over hundred years ago.

I understand the theoretical graviton is a boson, spin 2 virtual particle. Nothing gets out of a blackhole (except hawking radiation) therefore gravitons if they exist must flow into a black hole from space causing space time curvature. Does this mean gravitons must exist in space everywhere? Is space and the graviton the same thing? Gravity is caused by mass/energy giving the appearence of stretching space. Under string theory the graviton is represented as an open string with each end connected to a multidimensional membrane or Dbrane as are all bosons. Bosons move along this membrane at light speed(with no analogous relationship to the aether and photons ). Are gravitons/space destroyed by mass/energy causing a vacuum for other gravitons to flow into ie giving the effect of space time curvature? If gravitons(virtual particles) originate from space and are destroyed by matter, are they also the cause of dark energy and the accelerated expansion of the universe? In string theory space is multidimensional could dark matter exist in other dimensions if it exists? Which dimension in string theory do gravitons exist in?

Good nutrition is important not just genetic mix or colour of parents. http://www.universityworldnews.com/article.php?story=20121011133921198 If a child is not fed as a child it is likely not to be overly bright when it grows up.

Since it cant be observed directly could dark matter exist in extra dimensions http://www.speed-light.info/video_dark_matter.htm . It would be off thread to answer this.
-
Is that like dark matter? I but mostly others have posted multiple links on extra dimensions on this forum. Here is a link on 5 dimensional space time, I may have posted it before. https://arxiv.org/ftp/arxiv/papers/1412/1412.6136.pdf I have some links re wave particle duality but I think we are drifting off topic, I may start a new thread to explain what nonsense I have been reading now.

You could try an epoxy gun, RS stock some that you use with cartridges https://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/epoxy-guns/1462873/ The cheapest way is possibly to go to DIY wharehouse where you can buy syringe cartridges ready to go with hardener and epoxy in seperate chambers. You still need to give the epoxy mixture a good stir before using it with these.

I c But in string theory the end of strings are connected to membranes which consist of undetectable unfolded dimensions of space. These dimensions as in the aether are undetectable. Whilst string theory is not aether theory, why is one concept of space valid and the other not. Strings representing photons travel through space connected to the multidimensional membrane of space as does light in aether theory according to what you have written above. If space is assumed to be multidimensional and light waves pass through it operating in more than 4 dimensional space time, then wave particle duality is easier to understand as is polarization, and a whole load of other effects. Does the above clarify my line of thought. PS I am just trying to help the OP out a little, perhaps I might learn something new and have some fun at the same time.

Light propagates through space and is absorbed by matter are you saying the aether is space. In string theory strings representing bosons are connected at both ends to a membrane (D Brain)analogous to space The track of Light can be bent by gravity which is caused by a gradient or stretching of space, a potential can cause a substance to flow this could be analogous to space being absorbed by mass. I think the OP should define how the aether is defined on this thread, the above posts leave some doubt as to what is being talked about here. cross posted, but you guessed what I might be thinking

Yup I have found that with positive votes I have given, I can knock them off and there does not appear to be a restriction to the amount of points I can knock off in this way provided Ihave up voted said person in the first place. -
I got you wrong I had the clear impression you were fixated with 4 dimensional space time. Do you now accept that might not be the full picture? I must have another admirer who down votes at almost the same time as you post, hey ho. Perhaps some one is following you (spooky) As I pointed out above the term aether appears to have multiple definitions for different people. The OP does not appear to be clear on the aether definition and might be using the term in a spiritual or metaphysics sense rather than a physical sense. Could the OP please clarify what version of aether is being discussed here? A static aether was proven not to exist by Michelson Morley experiment, it did not however disprove an aether that moves with us or flows towards the planet like gravity perhaps. Ligo is a bigger more modern version of the MM experiment it detects gravitational waves from black hole mergers and the like.

I am not a teacher. I tend to ask questions about things I am not clear on, which i guess does not add to threads. I do try to stay on topic. I suggest you block my posts, I understand there is an option on the forum to do that. I do read before I ask stupid questions and therefore have partly formed opinions before I seek clarification. Perhaps the number of people who block a person might be a useful marker, rather than the down vote. I guess I am one of the younger members on the forum and am open to new ideas and concepts. Apologies for annoying you, you old white sexist male living in your den in the forest somewhere. I wonder if being old restricts you and some other older people to 4 dimensions or might extra dimensions exist. I guess being old you forgot the down vote you mentioned also.- 111 replies

According to you then string theory is bollocks, and I should believe what you write, because you know more than actual physicists. I take the view your views are outdated and there are additional dimensions. You really do misuse that down vote, which as you stated does make it worthless.

I view it is a sign of affection having received almost 30 suspected down votes from your self for asking questions since I joined the forum. If it was used to mark the usefulness or accuracy of a statement it might carry some worth, but since it is misused, it is worthless, but mildly amusing. It is like gaining or losing stars from a teacher in infant school and rather childish. -
F F sake what does light travel through, how is it polarized, how does a particle produce a wave, what restricts its speed. Get with the program add dimensions! Focus on the wilderness of your unsupportable flat land beliefs. This is supposed to be a science forum not a religious forum. Boa Noite

You may be trying to get me to go off thread. The thread is aether/space/ with maybe extra dimensions My limited understanding for what it is worth is that all the theories from the beginning of time are attempts to explain the known universe. I never heard of Phlogiston before, but since it has been proven wrong I am glad I never waisted time reading about it. The concept of aether seems to persist, it means many things to many people, my second post on this thread gave a link. Perhaps if instead of using the word aether, someone had used the TLA word TOE, the concept TOE would keep coming up instead instead of aether. Would the word TOE be more acceptable to you. I wonder if string theory is the modern equivalent of aether theory. As you are no doubt aware there are many aether theories and many string theories. Many of to days more modern theories incorporate extra dimensions. Using 5 dimensions of space time rather than 4 I understand dark matter is not needed any more. There are many professional(ie paid) physicists that have this idea. Immergent gravity based on GR uses 5 dimensions not 4 and gives almost all the same answers. All the string theories incorporate more dimensions. In Newtons day the aether was accepted as fact until michelson morley tried to detect the flow of the aether. It seems modern theories today are pointing to extra dimensions that are not obvious to folk in flatland. My basic understanding of aether is that the aether represents space, but am aware it means a lot more for other folk. In some string theories the Membrane of space is connected at both ends of an open string. This is more easily visualized as a vibration in the multidimensional membrane of space. Mordred stated "remember the mantra all things are quantum fluctuations or excitations" in space, these are equivalent to vibrating strings in string theory. All the different theories are all trying to explain the observed world, and have some overlap or insight that other theories do not provide. I often ask questions and do not get answers. I do not let it bother me. I got banned for a couple of weeks for trying to extract from someone that more dimensions might exist, clearly my evil plan failed. But it did give me the insentive to join another forum. One thing that intrigues me ref the aether/Membrane of space concept is why does everyone assume space/aether is fixed and we flow through it. If it assumed to be like a liquid it could be dragged around by rotating galaxies and be absorbed by masses. Space/aether expands in open space between galaxies why not contract towards matter and swirl around, and if a graviton is assumed to exist how does it get out of a black hole. Space/gravitons/chocolate unicorns etc must flow into the black hole not vice versa(except hawking radiation). If mass is the source of gravity where do the gravitons come from, and how do they get out of blackholes? A flowing space/aether/Membrane type thingy etc strikes me as being more plausible than a graviton particle, unless of course the graviton is assumed to be space itself in which case it flows towards matter and black holes. Understanding space I think is intriguing. You have clearly indicated you believe space is 4 dimensional space time and dark matter exists. I do not agree and will go for 5 dimensional space time as an absolute minimum and dont need dark matter. For me the aether/space is a multidimensional membrane that explains wave particle duality, quantum entanglement, fluctuations and excitations and perhaps even what goes on inside a black hole. Perhaps M theory is pretty close to a TOE, which might put the boot into other older theories. The membrane concept of space connecting strings does look to me like another version of aether theory. Aether is just a word why are you so hung up on it, it has many meanings for many people, from scientists to hippies Religious types might state god is everywhere and made everything, this could perhaps be equated to the aether concept maybe? or maybe M theory is everywhere and explains all things perhaps? You did ask for an answer I hope the above suffices.

Oh Ive been away for a while and hadnt realized the OP is now talking about the luminefourous aether. I will leave the luminefourous aether and other ancient theories to you and your obvious obsession, for those that dont know what the hell phlogiston is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phlogiston_theory

D Branes are multidimensional and describe space which is not static 3 dimensional nothing. The only thing I hang onto is the fact that space is multidimensional, strings exist in the membrane of space as I currently understand it. Space could be defined as the aether from which all things eminate.

Firstly apologies to the OP. Quarks excluded Do your questions not boil down to what is god or how you can define god in a sense that agrees with scientific facts and theories. 1To the best of my knowledge string theory is one of the most advanced theories in development, this theory involves multiple spacial dimensions, most of which will be forever be undetectable. Many other THEORIES exist that suggest matter can appear out of nothing ,zero energy universe etc etc. 2 Why should god not always exist, depending on how you define your god of course. If you view the human being as being an automaton responding to external inputs, could a definition of god not be a automaton ie the universe as a whole responding to external inputs. 3 Again this depends on what you define your god as, if you define god as the entire universe, then perhaps string theory will help you know the mind of god, if you define your god as a stone or a football player or religious leader, then I guess your god is easier to understand. 4 What do you mean by supernatural. Ultimately all things will be explained in more and more detail. Why should all things not be connected to a certain extent especially when extra dimensions come into play. Einsteins spooky action at a distance is not supernatural it could be via other spacial dimensions. The above is partly what I was getting at before I was blocked. But like I said I am not religious and dont have a clue how you or anyone defines god on this forum.
