  1. Hello- this is my first post. I'm looking for suggestions on how to get myself interested in and excited about chemistry. I'm taking my very first class in it in 2 weeks and I'm more than a little bit worried. Anything you can reccomend, like chemistry related stories, articles, artwork, books (the chemistry of hell joke in here was awesome), philosophy, recent discoveries that I can use to cultivate my interest would be sooo helpful. I have a very weak grasp of math and have always been that way. I am hoping I can turn that around. By weak I mean I never learned my multiplication tables in 3rd grade and still have to count on my fingers or write down the most simple problem. The thing is I am smart, very smart in so many areas. . except this one so it kind of infuriates me to run up against things I can't conceptualize. Geometry I loved but algebra nearly killed me. I have found that if I can get fascinated with a topic even if it's a steep one I can learn to love it and coincidingly love to learn it. I never knew I loved science before so I am a recent convert.
