It's the difference between jerk, lurch and glide... The distortion happens when a multi-mass is suddenly subjected to an inertial change. Momentum of said multimass differs if the mass is not equal within the body -> such as an organic construct (including one-cell) or a machine with delicate instrumentation... This we feel as G's or gravity units... A human being IS distorted by G-forces so yes, we DO get constricted... Most people will black out due to capillary collapse before they actually die from the front end of their body pressing through to the back end... Hence the idea that IF we could get a spaceship to the speed of light, it would take half the trip to accellerate to the highest velocity and then the next half decellerating. This sci-fi idea that when a person gets pulled into a black hole past the event horizon they still exist just in a stretched state is bullhockey... Sure, the matter that we are would get stretched, but our biological system would such down just as sure as if we were subjected to any other physical environmental change i.e. vaccuum of space or the depths of the ocean... Question is: Which would be a faster death? Explosion, Implosion, or Distortion?

Electron wants to have it's Proton... So the closer shells fill in first... s shell is closer than d shell... etc... However, some atoms support each other and create stable lattice structures, hence why the metals with f shells will act different than all the others... There is no real way to "predict" this behavior than by looking and understanding the periodic table and why it was situated in the way it was... BTW, it really gets nasty when you come to the "artificial" atoms... Radioactive isotopes can really screw things over... Best bet is to memorize the exceptions to the rule... Have fun! Quantum Mechanics is a lovely sport... I just can't seem to place that electron and clock it at the same time... YEESH!

You have a double dot on top of X that means it's acceleration (a double derivative) However... X is a function of t... ooooo!!! I see your dilemma... You need Laplace Transforms, Baby!!!

Since molecules are sooo damn small, a quantifiable number was created -> 6.022*0^23... This was not arbitrary -> it seems most gases behave exactly the same at STP (Standard Temperature and Pressure) by being contained in 22.4Liters of space... The space itself is not arbitrary, gas was filled in a container that's volume, temperature and pressure was controllable and could be varied... Hence how you can get the special PV=nRT equation. R being a constant specific to the gas at certain temperature and pressure (there are tables in the back of your chem book for STP BUT you need a Thermodynamics book to get other temp/press values.) This mole number came about because of the above special gas behavior, but as always scientists decided to keep everything the same so they made mole number useful for ALL elements hence the mole mass number on the bottom of each element in the periodic table... now: IONS -> Believe it or not, you are an energy field... What we think of as solid is actually the magnetic field created by the electrons travelling around the nucleus... We are in actuality 99.99999999...% free space!!! Now most atoms are in a normal happy situation where each positive proton within the nucleus has a happy negative friend called the electron wizzing around the outside... When the pair is broken either by radiation where a proton is released, or by having an electron escape OR having another electron hitchhike, the atom has imabalance in electrical polarity... If there are more protons than electrons, you get that much more positive energy sending out a want ad looking for negative partnership. If there are more electrons than protons, you get the opposite effect, the atom is looking for positive partnership.... Either way, these atoms looking for partners are called IONS... The positive ones are CATIONS and the negative ones are called ANIONS. Voltage in a battery is determined by how many Cations and Anions are wanting each other within the battery. When you rub your wool socks against your polyester carpet, the wool steals electrons from the carpet creating a "charge". Zapping a friend gives the electrons a chance to run back down to the ground whence they came. Very basic and a bit simplistic but I hope you get the picture... Here's an ionic chemistry equation: H+ + OH- = H2O Ionization has a lot to do with acidic and basic reactions... H+ acidic OH- basic Does that mean water is a SALT??? ROFLMAO

No brainer for me... Dutch Oven on sidewalk... We already do it... Some actually just put aluminum foil on asphalt... At construction sites I have actually seen workers put a honking huge burrito in foil on dashboard and had a piping hot lunch... Man I need to get my Evaporative Cooler going soon... ~It ain't hot until it reaches 100~ Right now we are in the warm 90's...

Actually, just make a normal light bulb... Tungsten filament wire can be bought. Make lightbulb is the challenge NOT components... Plenty of old bulbs can be found at antique stores... The only challenge is vaccuuming this bad boy then adding argon or some other noble gas... OR... one can try the organic way.... Get a circular tank and add to it wood shavings, torn up/shredded paper and a pecular little mushroom from the Armillaria genus (honey mushroom is actually edible). Put mirrors in background and add other light concentrating devices and ET VOILA!!! A very green way (pun intended due to luminescence) for one to "light up." I may even try this one... If I could find room between all my books.... Hey! There's another use! Book destruction w/o adding to a landfill... Meh! Can't sac my friends... But it could be a great way to get rid of unwanted mail (aka bills.)

I was just thinking of a cool way for someone with cute furry critters to take advantage of their nocturnal nature.... You need to modify your running cage so that it generates electricity (i.e. flywheel) and stores this in a battery/capacitor. Then hook up unit to a wee nightlite (LED with good reflective backing does just fine.) Warning - most furry critters have an annoying habit at gnawing at live wires... Careful shielding or strategic holes drilled in side/bottom of cage may be in order so you won't end up with crispy fritters!!!

We already have fake flowers (silk etc goto Michaels) So what you are actually looking for is to mimic an actual flowering plant? Plant grows, plant produces flowers to attract pollenators. Flower dies, genetics material from pollenation creates seed with optional out fruit etc for distribution vehicle... Way too compliacted a robot... So lets go with basic FLOWER stage... A flower is photosensitive and will react to solar intensity... Let's assume day blooming not night blooming... This requires a small photocell or other light controlled device to trigger bloom... A flower has a stem - need a rigid but flexible pole. Try a small corrugated tube with a fake pot as base (you can hide most electronics needed within pot...) A flower blooms at first light, have a photo cell at base of flower or surface of pot for signal. Flower consistes of a small washer-shaped base with six hinges welded equidistant around outer edge. The six petals have mating hinges to affix them to that same edge. Each petal has a memory wire attached to underside approx halfway up petal with wire going vertically down along stem to be connected at base. All memory wires are hooked up to photocell at base of "plant". When energized, wires constrict until petals are pulled into a 180 degree plane from base of flower (must add physical stop mechanism to keep petal from being pulled too far back.) Make it look something like that green little frill at a base of a bud. note that it needs to be sturdy, those wires are going to impart a bit more stress... Bloom closes at night due to a smaller washer "floating" in center of bud with 6 springs hooked up along washer and connected to each petal at the same point on each petal so that the springs continually pull petals together into a 90 degree formation. Only with the opposing pull of the memory wires will the petals open. A flower moves with light travel. Have each petal's photocell connected to that petal's memory wire. Petal angles must be coplaner, sun is always at a tilt off this axis, the petals that receive more light produce more energy to their wires than those petals with less light. More energy contracts wire moving flower head in direction of sunlight, hence giving more light to opposing petals. This will cause flower to "wobble" for awhile before reaching an equilibrium. This is an algorhythm for an automatice/robotic flower... But you still have to think about plenty of things - All this can only be accomplished if you add a few pullies, racers, etc to give you mechanical advantages... But if I give you everything, I might as well make it myself... Or pay me and I'll make you something you can sell....
