This will sound very odd but I have been searching for the answer for several years and need someone who know chemistry. I have had IBS-D for 20 years. About 12 years ago I began swimming every other day through my employers wellness program. I also quit using smokeless tobacco. I would start every day with going to the convince store at 6am grab 2 Casey’s General Store premium ring sugar doughnuts, 2 packs of Big Red gum, a bottle of Everfresh O.J. And a Mounds Bar. I would eat the doughnuts and some of the oj on my 20 minute drive to the pool. Swim a slow breast stroke for only 20 minutes. Dry off and drive 5 minutes to my jobs parking lot. Get some big red and put on a nicoderm 21mg patch. After the second or third time of this I got a very strong nic hit that would last for around 15 minutes. Keep in mind I chewed cohopenhegan for 20 years so my tolerance was high. I had never experienced this before. This sensation would almost take my breath and the world would tune out until it was over. When it was done I was intensely relaxed. Then I would go into work and nurse on my remaining OJ and around mid morning eat my mounds bar. Throughout the day I continue to chew big red also. After a week of this my Digestion went through a die off type effect each evening at about the same time. After several weeks my IBS was gone and I experienced improved hearing, breathing, physical energy, lowered cholesterol levels, and awesome sleep patterns where you would fall asleep in minutes and wake at 5am ready to get started. While my eating habits of what I ate didn’t change I naturally started eating only about half servings and was full. I even lost about 20lbs in those weeks. My cognitive thinking increased intensely and all pain in my body was totally gone. I was a programmer at the time and it was amazing. I also had a higher level of calmness and found myself being a deeper thinker. I also had no withdraw symptoms from the Nic. In short I FELT AWSOME AND HEALTHY. Even better than before I had IBS.
After about 3 months I took a short vacation that caused me to lose the great progress my life had taken and my IBS and nic habit came back after 4 or 5 days. Over the last 8years I have come to learn the doughnuts have something in them that is the root cause of the effect. It is also compounded by something in the big red gum. Unfortunately I can no longer consistently get the doughnuts so I have been trying to find the ingredient that helped all this. I have only been able to get that same feeling 2 times and without swimming, but it is consistent in the cure of the chronic problems I have. Both those times included a couple of days eating 2 doughnuts a day and the nic patch.
I have taken every ingredient mentioned on the website list but none of them agree with me. I suspect it is something that interacts with my CB1 and CB2 receptors by possibly inhibiting an enzyme or two. I know if I can identify what this is I can help many people with autoimmune issues as this “cure” made my body operate like it was intended. Please keep in mind I am trying to cure myself and others and not looking for any high or ways to make nic better. I just want to know what caused it.
