  1. I have never had that fear of spiders or snakes. My wife is deathly afraid of snakes. My phobia is sharks which my wife thinks is a riot. Every time I'm in the ocean I just know a shark is homing in on me, and she just rolls her eyes and swims out to deeper water [shudder].
  2. It won't. There is no exact value for Pi.
  3. I don't know. What's it say?
  4. Google the Ideal Gas law, that should get you there.
  5. These are common chemicals so all you have to do is look up the density (for the temperature) in lbs/gallon and divide your load by that density and that will give the gallons in the load. Make sense?
  6. It's a game so don't sweat the physics. The trick is to refer to some real physics concepts but unrealistically extend them and be very vague. Whenever a game or science fiction story tries to get specific it always fails (it's science fiction! You know fiction). Keep it vague and it will be believable because there won't be glaring errors.
  7. It isn't. I wasn't aware we thought it was going too. No, I don't see any evidence that the universe is going to end shortly. You can relax.
  8. No, why do think the vacuum constant is going to change?
  9. What can happen at any time?
  10. Planets aren't alive. Gee, how profound! I'll bet my coffee cup isn't alive either!

    air speed

The last dryer we set up simply had a control loop that used the signal from the anemometers to the VFD for the fan. The power source was 60 Hz so the full open speed was 60 Hz. We did not care what the rotational speed of the fan was (obviously the fan was sized properly, well almost the motor was actually oversized...). Just tune the air speed reading to the frequency output of the VFD. Worked like a champ. Edit to add - Over time the actual air flow from the rotational speed of the fan can change due to debris build up or loading of the dryer, etc., but if you use the actual air speed at the product location in the dryer then changes in the efficiency of the fan doesn't matter.
  12. IMO my explanation is much less confusing based on the level of knowledge indicated by the OP. [Shrug]

I worked in a factory with many dryers with different control schemes. By FAR the best control method is to use an anemometer in the dryer to control the fan speed, that in conjunction with temperature and humidity control should get you what you need.
  14. A Blue Whale is bigger than any dinosaur that ever lived. There you go, out of 8 billion people I have fulfilled your desire to meet me. Hello! I imagine there are probably many several billion people that also know this but I guess you have not met them. Planets aren't alive based on the generally accepted definition of life.
  15. Hobs, you are correct about mass balances in most cases. In chemistry and most processes the use of mass balances ( the goes ins = the goes outs) is a great tool for figuring out what is going on in a reaction or process. In the case of fusion or fission you will find that the mass before the reaction does not equal the mass after the reaction.
  16. Fair enough, but before the BB the universe was in a state with no matter no dimensions(?) and no decoupled forces - it is hardly what i would call a universe as we know it. That would be like me saying I am 14 billion years old because my molecules are from the energy of the big bang, on some level you can say that is true, but I am not making a birthday cake large enough for that amount of candles.
  17. Most scientists agree that the universe is about 14 billions years old, so it is not eternal. Matter can be destroyed (converted into energy) and matter can be created (converted from energy).. AFAIK most scientist do not believe there is a boundary of the universe,
  18. The easiest way to do this is to go to Amazon and search for 'temperature controllers'. There are many to choose from, you should be able to get one for about 30 dollars. The heater can be a 10 watt heater or just a 10 watt light. It will take a little trial and error to determine the best distance between the heater and sensor to maintain the temperature. A well insulated box should decrease any temperature cycling.
  19. Just a couple of questions, approximately what is this certain hold temperature and do you care about the heat up and cool down rate?
  20. I think they didn't find the aether because it doesn't exist.
  21. The 14th through the 17th is the annual GBBC. This is a great way to join in on a scientific endeavour to monitor the the bird population around the world. Here is the site for the GBBC. As an aside, today was one of my favorite days, it was the first day since last summer that I have heard a Northern Cardinal sing it's territorial song. It was -2F but there was brilliant sun shine, and that was good enough for the Cardinals.😊
  22. Is this going somewhere? If so could you ask the final question so we can move along, or are just wondering about energy and heat transfer?
