this is the fluoxetine synthesis and the von Braun reaction at the last step. I wanted to know if I can use this method to other synthesis too

If I have 3o amine on a side chain, and I want to make it 2o amine by getting rid of -CH3, can I use BrCN and KOH ? Is this correct?

Can i add NaCN to ClCH2CH2CH2Cl and only one Cl be replaced with CN? Is this based on the moles of NaCN I add?

Hey everyone.. I need you help asap. I have 11 molecules I need to synthesize, starting from the basics like benzene and ethene,each time. The major problem with the amines is that I when I want to produce 1o or 2o amines I dont want a mixure of 1o,2o and 3o amines so I cant use the reaction: RCH2Cl+NH3 (but I can use RCOCl+ NH3 and then LiALH4). Hi everyone.. I need help to produce CH3O-benzene-CH2COCl (para thesis) starting from benzene. I tried to start with CH2COCl so i will have para thesis but when I react the molecule ( OH-benzene-CH2COCl) with NaOH/CH3Br in order to have the ether, CH2COCl will react with NaOH too... Is there any other way to do this?

At the stage when Ch3NH2 react with ClCH2COOCH3 i think we will have a mixure of 1o,2o,3o amines and we wont be able to get the one product i want.. is there any other way including the reaction of RCOCL+ RNH2?
