  1. dogs again. dogs started off as domesticated wolves, over time the were selectively bred into the gamut of dogs you see today which are a different species from wolves. this took a few thousand years. things with shorter generation times(fruitflies or bacteria) can be bred into a different species in a matter of months or years.
  2. i've met him before. apparently he was planning to build a 'particle weapon' that would destroy a ship by firing a single particle(like a proton or such)
  3. ah yes, the person who believes a race of reptilian aliens rules the world. forgive us if we think his reputation is ever so slighlty tarnished and that he may not be an appropriate authority on the subject.
  4. Tolmosoff, corked wine is not the same thing. get with the program. vitor, get stronger bags. can't say anything more than that.
  5. i have no idea of the specifics of it, but it is elementary to deduce that it is because it is only interacting with oxygen. why it does not induce green light from nitrogen i do not know. but this isn't exactly a rare condition as i have seen aurora that are almost completely red and almost completely green. i'm sure someone can answer your question but perhaps it isn't here(judging by the lack of responses)
  6. i don't think you get how a distance learning program works, you can do it part time with all of them and some will even allow you to go at your own pace(taking one calss at a time if necessary) so you can do it around your job. you don't have to go attend a lecture, they will be available online and most correspondance with the university will be over the internet. all you have to do in person is the exams and i'm sure you can get a day off or arrange for the exams to take place on your days off so you can work around your job. this really is a much better option.
  7. you want to play it this way, fine. yes this is true seeing as everything is made of atoms. by your i meant the owner of the brain in question. yes, not everything alive has a brain but we were talking about humans there. for a general statement it would be the halting of various biochemical processes. no i do not think i am JUST a brain. i am the brain + body. however, my conciousness resides entirely in the electric patterns present within my brain. it is true that you cannot just throw in a brain and attach some jumper cables to make a conciousness but you'll notice that this isnot how it is done when brains form. atoms are not a computer, electricity is not a computer. The computer is 100% atoms. There has to be something that more to this is life thing. <see the absurdidty its an EMERGENT property. the sum of the parts is greater than the whole. and your point? and computers may become concious with the introduction of a strong AI. we believe we will be able to simulate and entire human brain within 10 years. it is expected that this will become concious. i have thought about it. my conclusion(based on evidence) is that life is merely a pattern of atoms and electrical activity. disrupt this pattern so it cannot propagate itself through time and it is dead. if you want to prove there is something else then give me some evidence.
  8. explain it here. incase you haven't noticed, majority opinion is that you are talking a lot of bollocks. are you going to provide anything other than crap contextless and unitless graphs(with unknown data source)? not to mention the flat out wrong and inconsistent dat you have used earlier? and the fact that anyone with an education relating to this field immediately calls bullshit on you?
  9. you can PM an administartor if you want. but why did you post the email if you were going to take it down soon after? you could have sent the user a private message. next time, don't post anything you aren't comfortable leaving there forever as we don't like to delete things already posted.
  10. everywhere
  11. 1/ Learn how to spell correctly and throw in a pinch of grammar. 2/ We're going to need some more information to work with. For instance, able to penetrate what exactly? tissue paper? marmallows? wood? reinforced concrete? what is the velocity of the bullet? what is the mass of the bullet? etc etc.
  12. the total angular (and linear) momentum of the entire system in that situation before and after the collision is zero. this is because they are rotating and moving in opposite directions.
  13. it's not ydoaps, its gilded. ydoaps is the yank singing 'In The Navy!' by the village people and generally trolling.
  14. you can't. this is to prevent edit systems being abused. when we let posts be editable indefinately people go back and change stuff to make anyone who replies to it seem a bit thick. it disrupts conversation and leads to confusion. if you have further corrections to make, post them in your next post.
  15. what's 'air damb'? also, sticking a windmill on top of your car while your driving will NOT charge up the battery. what will happen is it will cause drag and eat up electricity faster than it makes it so in effect you will be draining the batteries quicker. a retractable windmill that can be deployed when the car is parked however wouldn't be so bad.
  16. it doesn't disintegrate at some magic speed, its just that even if you turned all the matter of the universe into energy and dumped it into the probes kinetic energy it still wouldn't be going the speed of light.
  17. a quantum mechanics textbook.
  18. to quote someone just hit the big buttin at the bottom of their post labeled 'quote'
  19. First off, a little vocabulary lesson. In science, a theory is the best you can get. it isn't a random guess but is built up of many many peices of evidence and testing. what you have is a hypothesis, not a theory. this is an easy mistake to make as mass media calls even a random stab in the dark a theory. the moon does not cath all the asteroids, quite a few hit the earth like tunguska, and the extinction of the dinosaurs. the moon has a core like earth because it was molten when it formed out of the debris of the collision. this allowed heavier minerals to settle down to the center, just like how the core of the earth formed. the moon doesn't and never has had a significant atmosphere. IIRC there's some metal vapour but it's extremely tenuous. the 'moon is a captured planet' theory has been around for some centuries. it has fallen out of favour as we know the moon is moving away from us which would be highly unlikely for a gravitational capture, and besides that, its too big in relation to earth for gravitational capture.
  20. perhaps you merely mistyped your password.
  21. electromagnetism is propagated by photons. it is a particle effect.
  22. but it doesn't reach lava, we know this from experience. i think you need to get a grip on reality
  23. we can actually. look up tesseract and/or hypercube these are geometrical representations of a 4 dimentional object.
  24. can you please use proper english when posting. at the very least correct spelling. leptons and quarks are elementary particles. in the context of the forums it is your rank and is based on post count.
  25. whats pt?
