2^64 minutes -
i like nicholas cage. yeah, okay knowing sucked but i don't think that was the fault of the actors and actresses

How can I make clean hydrogen faster?
insane_alien replied to Justonium's topic in Inorganic Chemistry
it is actually since hydrogen is some orders of magnitude more reactive. helium does nothing in the body, hysdrogen will be absorbed, react and other stuff. -
~20kt is what you get when you can scrape together just enough to make a simple bomb. with more technological wizardry you can reduce the yield(and use less fissionables) but this is far more complex than making a more powerful bomb. so no surprises there. what would be surprising would be if it were more than 100kt.

How can I make clean hydrogen faster?

but that won't happen with a single breath. your lungs, even when you exhale as much as you are able to, still have a good few litres of air in them. this will prevent oxygen from being sucked out of your blood unless you inhale an agent which actively removes free oxygen in which case you have a whole lot more to worry about. a one off lungful of hydrogen or helium isn't going to do any harm other than make you bit dizzy. as long as you are not breathing it in repeatedly with only short intervals there is very little risk unless you have an existing respiratory condition. -

yes, 2^64 is the number of distinct addresses. and as RAM is addressed in byte sized blocks this means you can assign a unique address to 2^64 bytes of RAM. -

justonium, thats why i said to bubble the gas through water to remove sulphuric acid vapours. it would be absolutely fine unless you breathed it constantly one ore two lungfuls will be perfectly harmless. -

Justonium, if you intend looking directly at it, welding goggles will do. as for producing hydrogen, see my previos post about sulphuric acid and metal shavings. works a treat. -
sweet now hannah has someone to boss about other than her dad

sulphuric acid on metal shavings with the resulting gas bubble through water would provide very pure hydrogen nice and fast. your biggest contaminant will be water vapour and the sulphuric acid concentration would be negligble(you'd get more in your lungs from huffing an onion) -
i remember at one point, i think on the first EVA that the astronaut commented that the handrails on the hubble being cold even through the insulated gloves of the space suit. so pretty damn cold i'd imagine. the insides especially as many of the instruments need to be cold to avoid interference from hubbles thermal radiation.

are you going to show us the numbers you got so we can show you where you went wrong?
-
i like it, its useful for getting some quick figures. i think its going to be one of those projects that takes a while to get really amazing, needs to amass a large amount of data before then and thats going to take a while.

can you show us the method you used to get that value? your off by 300%

because it is vastly more efficient to just use the electricity directly? electrolysis introduces a whole slew of losses which means the amount of energy you get from utiliseing hte hydrogen is a lot less than if you just used the electricity directly.

probably a light seeking robot where the stem bends to keep the flower part pointed at the sun.

Can you believe atoms are cubes and NOT spheres?
insane_alien replied to SciMann's topic in Speculations
you got one bit right, they can't really be said to be spherical. there are all sorts of distortions from other atoms and orbitals. and besides that they are a bit more fuzzy. i'd say they look more like tribbles. definitely not cubes though, we've seen them directly with electron microscopes and they approximated spheres and had no edges or corners like you would expect on a cube. -
about 2 hours. 2 and a half if you count the trailers

theres a land line in my house. still got a rotary dial telephone too. its better this way. the less 'new fangled' stuff i need to teach my parents the better.

seen this yesterday. amazing movie even though i'm not very into the trek. seen my first genuine trekkie. a roughly 13-year old acne ridden 15 stone 5 foot tall captain kirk. funniest thing i've ever seen. his mum was complaining that it was the third time he'd been to see the film that day. scotty's accent is actually pretty good. i like the 'get tae ...' line pity they never let him finish it.

first of all you have a volume there. and what sort of power are you looking for? and are you expecting fuel tanks to be included in that volume?
-
and they do, it is just that the path taken to get to now is different. the x^1 to x^infinity all pass through the origin and 1,1 but the path they took to get there was different.

we'd need infinite energy to accelerate to the speed of light. the energy in the universe is finite. therefore, speed of light cannot be reached.

its properties are the opposite of normal matter (except mass) and cancels it out violently when matter and anti-matter get close to each other.
