tried the alpha scattering with gold foil one yet? thats prety cool. maybe you could set up some photgraphic paper and try and see if any patterns show up.

umm, right... if i missed a bit care to post a direct link then? its an assumption based on past experience and tell tale signs from your posting style. the assumptions have proven accurate before and they are looking to prove accurate again. no i haven't, and judging by the fact google returns only one result (link) neither has anybody else. okay, if there are so many heavy elements in the sun why can't we detect them? the massive convective currents in the sun should bring them up to the surface pretty regularly. and wouldn't the ditribution of the elements in the nebula before solar formation play a bigger role than an idealised model? we find a higher percentage of lighter elements towards the outer system because the planets are generally bigger and can hold on to them better. they were also less affected by solar ignition. oh really did you or did you not say that in post number 7? this is off topic anyway. back to the point.

you haven't provided a reason why it absolutely cannot be infinite. and 'i can't imagine it being infinite' is not a valid logical reason.

the drives were actually bought seperately. purely because i couldn't afford them all at once.
-
i'm just saying RAID 5 gives me some added read performance and a bit more data security. sure, it isn't as good as mirroring the data entirely but i don't expect a double drive failure unless something pretty extreme happens. and if there was a double drive failure it would bork a RAID 1 as well.
-
yeah but the parity means you can lose one drive and keep on running. just because it isn't explicit redundancy. your talking about it as if it is RAID 0
-
the array will lose data if two drives fail. the odds of that happening before i can get a replacement drive are acceptably low. also, get 2/3 of the space made more financial sense. how exactly is is more likely to fail than a single drive anyway?

Any way to induce hallucination without drugs?
insane_alien replied to hw help's topic in Psychiatry and Psychology
I think you'll find it was DrDNA who said that. I agree with him there but i didn't feel it needed mentioning again. -
personally i would trust my RAID 5 array more than to a p2p network. if i need extra space for long term storage i'll get some more (and bigger) drives.

you can do the same with ccocaine and aprin from willow bark. doesn't change their status on the drug front. would you call magic mushrooms drugs? because you can do the same with those as well. and this stops it being called a drug why? still includes the intake of drugs which excludes it from this thread. -

Zaire, it said without drugs. the chemicalin Salvia Divinorum is without a doubt a drug. therefore, it is excluded for possible hallucinogenic means in this discussion. -
hydro thermal vents don't contribute much to ocean currents as they're too small. tend to be normal convection from irregular solar irradiance that causes it.

do you want to know why your wrong darkshade? the force is the same so the acceleration is the same is true. but the starting wime is different and that makes a big difference to whether the get closer or further from each other in flight. if you get a tap dripping at a constant rate you'll be able to see what happens. works best with strobe lighting.

try to be helpful DrDNA. there really isn't much cance of that. making rocket fuel is more likely to cause your hands to become separated by several hundred meters. water rockets ... ummm... paper cut from the fins? stub your toe on the foot pump? isn't much dangerous stuff going on there.

tried a BIOS upgrade? its always worth a go. My BIOS is borked in the extreme. have to load it off a floppy disk everytime i boot my computer. still runs fine once it's started.

is van der waals equation even valid when there is nuclear reactions(or reactions of any kind) going on? and what is the conflict between them i don't believe that it excludes it. true, because newtonian physics is an approximation. the standard comparison is einsteinian mechanics and quantum physics. sweet jesus that is a mishmash of outdated ideas that have been replaced with more accurate one. This eventually leads to the conclusion that there are more elements present on Earth than on Jupiter for example and far more in the sun than would present on the earth... at least 41 more elements of increasingly higher molar mass, so increasing melting points for many of them. why? jupiter has all the elements that are present on earth just because it is big enough to hold on to hydrogen and helium and has a thick atmosphere doesn't mean you won't find stuff like uranium in there. cause gravity and fusion are so similar. its regular appearence does not say anything for its validity as it is only propagated by nutjobs. if it had a shred of validity then it would have become acepted theory instead of being discarded by well, eery serious professional in relevant fields. bringing WTC into this why? and the force on the impact would be something on the order of 20 times the weight. 400,000 tonnes of force is pretty big. not much holds up well to that. see your also not well versed in structural mechanics. back on topic, i am familiar with the SOHO site, i used to be an amateur astronomer but haven't been as into is as i have with chemistry lately. i don't see what on the soho site supports your position.

Chance to see a major asteroid impact. On Mars.
insane_alien replied to insane_alien's topic in Astronomy and Cosmology
i know you did. and i'm telling you that it would be solid(ice) till the asteroid hit to heat it up. -
tell you what. why don't you suspend an iron bar and sit watching it till it starts dripping then you'll know.

psst. thats what under ground ice is. it won't be warm enough till the asteroid strikes for it to be liquid. -

what me? i've never touched a drop of alcohol in my life! its always been bucket loads. -
well, the two possible products are 1-Bromopropane and 2-Bromopropane. both will be formed but one more than the other. Markovnikovs rule tells you exactly which will be produced more often because it tells you where the Bromine is most likely to go.
-
nope, you can do it entirely theoretically. does Markovnikov's Rule ring a bell? i would advise against going to the wiki page to read about it as it has the exact scenario you are talking about and probably wouldn't lead to you understanding it any better.

What do you not like about SFN?

works fine with epiphany 2.20.1 on kernel 2.6.23.12-2 i suppose a plugin that stops you making a complete ass of yourself when you're drunk on the forums is out of the question?
