  1. well, that'll only get you an imaginary high and et you put in an imaginary mental hospital. or thats what you'll think anyway.
  2. Chicken chicken. Chicken chicken chickens chicken.
  3. okay, i'll quantify that with 'for any specific material the rate of heat produced will be proportional to the decay rate.'
  4. are you in university yet? because if you are then there is likely a full department staffed by chemical engineers. at least thats how it's done here. i'm still just a student but ii've sent off a bunch of applications for internships just about everywhere from cadbury's to exxonmobil.
  5. yep. faster the rate of decay, faster the rate of heat produced.
  6. Chicken Chicken Chickens?
  7. DrDNA, in the early universe, there was no dust. every single thing in the universe was in a plasma state. there could be no solids. also, it is quite possible to have a raction without any third particle as the energy can easily be carried away through kinetic energy of the products. for instance, in a flame. this is particularly evident in rockets.
  8. depends what you define as a petrochemical. most of them are found naturally anyway.
  9. ahh so you'll be able to point it out in this list then? http://www.unixl.com/dir/university_and_college/ireland/
  10. well, if we sheltered behind the earth(impractical since we would have to keep it up for decades, unless it is over one of the poles) we could maybe survive. we could tell it was coming as the star in question would probably swell enough to have a visible disk before it decided to go the whole hog and go down swinging.

    Quibbles

He was given warning points for trolling then he insulted YT(who gave hime the first warning) in a PM which earned him a temporary ban.
  12. botulinum toxin has a LD50 of 1ng/kg body mass. i would definitely count that as a trace element having a big effect. compared o this 100-3000ppm is quite a high concentration.
  13. yeah, ions will have different spectra because your changing the number of electrons present. neutrons only interact with electrons through gravity. we have nothing sensitive enough to pick up any effect it could possibly have by several orders of magnitude. for all intents and purposes neutrons have no effect.
  14. fossilized bones. you can get a pretty good estimate of somethings age bylooking at how developed the bones are. it seems to have remained pretty constant throughout history for most species except humans. we developed medicines and better living conditions for ourselves so have increased out life expectancy considerably(more than doubled)
  15. no it doesn't and nothing swansont said indicated that the number of neutrons has anything to do with it.
  16. z is the number of protons.

    Heat

heat at room temperature(around 293K) is mainly in the IR spectrum. that is why it is related to IR so much. though blackbody radiation is found in all frequencies and can be described as thermal radiation.if it is above 800K or so it will emit a significant abount of visible light and if it is at 6000K it's main emmission will be in the green part of the spectrum.
  18. why do you keep claiming that noone has read your goddamn essays? we have read them and found no content. just because we didn't find any science in them does not mean we did not read them. stop bitchin and put up or shut up.
  19. sort of but it relies on a humans crap vision. if you have an ink thatreflects primarily in one bright colour(say orange) and also in another similar colour but not as well(say yellow-orange) and put it on an orange background so it is impossible to see the difference some specs that filter out orange light will allow you to read the text much easier than without. dunno if this is what you wanted but it does kind of work.
  20. EHD thrusters can be used in any oreintation. just think of them as bladeless propellors and you'll be fine. they just use electric fields to accelerate the air rather than forcing a blade through it.
  21. why would the genetics change? i don't believe masturbation is mutagenic or induces any selection pressures either way. i'm pretty sure humans have been spanking the monkey for many thousands of years and our lifespans have only gotten longer. okay, so i just read the article there. it doesn't actually mention anything about masturbation at all. it just says that in polygynous species the males appear to be more short lived than females. there are many many factors that could influence this. not just how many times they've ejaculated. especially since they would tend to get into fights more often which canshorten the average life span especially if those fights are to the death. seeing as masturbation doesn't requie competition(it only takes one) and humans are monogamus(for the most part) it should be that male and female lifespans are similar. i think the fact that males tendto be involved in manual labour more often has more to do with this than how often you've masturbated. and you also seem to be forgetting that women masturbate as well which according to you should lower their life expectancy as well again leading to similar life expectancies.
  22. well, evolution kind of favours those who propagate their genetic code more than other individuals so the purpose would still be long life. there is no biological clock saying you die so many years after you have sex. masturbation does not have any observed negative effects(appart from maybe spending more time in the bathroom or wherever your favourite spot is). anyway, wouldn't this also mean that people who have kids really really early(but don't masturbate, crazy scenarios i know.) on have much shorter lifes as well?
  23. the mass number doesn't need to be an integer. and averages don't always produce integers. also, due to E=mc^2 there is a bit of mass from the binding energy and protons and neutrons have slightly different weights and all that it throws it off. atomic mass is the actual mass of the atom and mass number is the number of nucleons. they don't always correspond.
  24. yes it is used to treat asthma but it is also a breakdown product of caffeine the concentrations in asthma medicine are much much higher though.
