well, pyrolytic carbon would work with it but thats about it. it takes about 10T to levitate a frog using this effect.

if something is diamagnetic it repels magnetic fields. if it is ferromagnetic it attracts magnetic fields. ferromagnetism is the usual kind of magnetism that you see in fridge magnets. have a look on youtube for 'superconductor levitation' that will give you examples of superdiamagetism which is similar.

well in that case its due to the collapsing accretion disk that formed along with the sun. this part of space just had extra angular momentum in this direction. it is also the same thing that accounts for the rotation of the planets as the material closer to the sun was moving faster. the planets with abnormal rotations are either tidally locked, in the process of becoming tidally locked or have been ht by something big enough to change its rotation.

not really no. if you work out the problem in one frame, energy and momentum are conserved. then you repeat the problem from another frame entirely you will get the same answer that all energy and momentum is conserved. all valid frames will return the same answer with all physical laws obeyed.

ahhh you mean the fact that energy is not conserved when changing coordinate systems. if you stick with one set of coordinates then everything works out fine, the frame of reference is arbitrary and can be moving, accelerating or stationary. this is why we don't suddenly decide to switch frames in the middle of working out a problem. it is also within the scope of the 'traditional' view of energy.

if you present your ideas on the forum publically, there will be a record of the idea being yours which should be enough for you to be credited with the idea. if you are really paranoid, you can talk to a lawyer and they will advise you. also, if you want people to volunteer themselves, you'll need to be a bit more specific about the field. physics covers a whole lot of things. the way your asking is like walking into the biggest library ever and asking a librarian for a book with pages in it.

have you tried calculating how magnetic fields would affect the tides? its been done with gravity and it predicts what we see.

Hey, just need a physicist to clarify something for me. I'm trying to work out the energy of a projectile travelling at a significant fraction of c. i only know the rest mass and the velocity. as far as i can make out, the equation to use is: Ek= mc2(1/sqrt(1-v2/c2 - 1) i'm not sure whether the m is relativistic mass or rest mass. if it's rest mass then all is good, if it is relativistic mass then can someone show me the proper equation?

here is the limit for velocity of a massive particle, take the lightest particle we know of (neutrino) and put the estimated mass energy of the universe into it as kinetic energy. that'll give you a speed limit. -
yeah, space-time isn't a physical object so you can't shatter it, break it, rip it or kill it. which i think is along the lines of what foofighter is imagining.

okay, for a thought experiment, we'll assume that mars is a uniform sphere at say, 0*C(i have the data for the vapour pressure of ater at this temperature handy). and that its atmosphere has a surface pressure of 1kPa(for the sake of arguement) and is bone dry(no water vapour). say you then coated mars in a layer of water. the water would evapourate till it had a partial pressure of 611Pa in the atmosphere. then it would reach equilibrium. so the final pressure of the atmosphere would be 1kPa + 611Pa which is 1611Pa. this is the maximum pressure you would be able to get on mars with water. temperature changes are neglected because these would eventually disappear as the planet regained thermal equilibrium.

polonium is in the tobacco. it is about 250,000,000,000 times more toxic than cyanide with a LD50 of 50ng due to both its chemical properties and its radioactive properties. i have no idea why it is not controlled by the industry.

well, there is very little water vapour in the martian atmosphere, the water vapour formed would just disperse. there would be little or no precipitation whatsoever.
