  1. we do weigh more at the poles. this also causes a bulge in the earth at the equator. PS. there is no centrifugal force. it is an effect caused by a centripetal force.
  2. einstein isn't wrong. incomplete, yes probably. it is the best understanding we have at the current time. until someone comes up with a more complete theory then we are 'stuck' with it. we have built many machines that utilise his theory of relativity (GPS navigation, particle accelerators etc. etc.) hardly a waste of 100 years.
  3. its a pretty harmless fetish. they don't hurt anybody so i say leave them alone and they won't botheer anybody(much like most animals funnily enough).
  4. Woohoo! another ChemEnger! welcome to the forums. your in for a hell of a good time(well if you went to my uni you would be, don't know what one your attending)
  5. some radical steve irwn fans http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/5338118.stm yes, lets honour an animal lover by mutilating animals! w00t!!
  6. in a field watching a cow while cooking breakfast if i remember right. didn't know about the towers till a few days after.
  7. there are a few speculations on this. 1. black holes are created and devour the earth. yes blackholes could be created(and i think probably have been already) but are so tiny that they evapourate very very quickly 2. we cause the vacuum to "drop" a few energy levels thereby changing the laws of physics. if that happens we're f****d and so is the rest of the universe. not much anybody would be able to do.
  8. yes. pluto is actually an example of one as the centre of mass is outside the surface of either pluto or charon. ok by recent changes in the definitions pluto and charon are dwarf planets but its the same thing. if you count pluto's other two moons then its a quad system.
  9. who said it was binary. look at the code thats written in really really small letters just above. compare it to the first block of numbers notice a pattern.
  10. bookmarks! or the ultimate in SFN geekdom, your homepage. no idea how i found his place and no idea why i looked and no idea why i stayed. but i'm here now so party on.
  11. hmm his only other post is on this as well. back it up or drop it.
  12. yeah a riddle should be solvable by logic alone. external information should not be needed.
  13. yes... well... i suppose they need to calculate the downward velocity of certain solid matter to avoid splashback.
  14. holy crap i'm 19th! must... break... geek... cycle... ngghhhh.... ah crap. geekdom here i come!
  15. how they let him near anything remotely to do with nuclear materials i'll never know.
  16. The avatar(as picked by the member) is obviously something the member wants, therefore it depicts at least an aspect of their personality and desires. if they pick something that is deliberately misleading, then that would mean that they want to live a different life than they are now. so, in effect, there are no false avatars.
  17. i'm failing to see how this is much different from other what-if scenarios like a nuclear war or something.
  18. ahh got it now. dmn that was easy
  19. ecoli, still can't get it.i tried filling in the gaps a while ago but got nowhere.
  20. ok, what level of education are you at? i'm figuring if you get a question like this then you should already know those equatins and how to apply them.
  21. nothing in the rules says he can't post elsewhere. its a free net.
  22. no, really. wtf is going on here?
  23. "If i come back as a zombie right now, lunch is you."
  24. umm... wtf?
  25. ok the equations you need to do this are, 1. F=ma 2. s=ut+0.5at^2 3. v=u+at F=force(N) m=mass(kg) a=acceleration(ms^-2) s=displacement(m) u=initial velocity(ms^-1) t=time(s) v=final velocity(ms^-1)
