yes but never the less the energy is coming from a source and therefore is not >100% efficient
-
why do you need to remind us that? we KNOW. and can you answer my question on the polarization od the strongforce? EDIT: yeah we have maplin for electronics. i know that a photo diode will give a voltage and that random radio waves will give a voltage when hooked up to an antenna. i have already gave my explanation of this and do not feel the need to reiterate myself as the first post on it covers it quite nicely

This canno happen, it violates quantum mechanics. shells lower than the outer one are FILLED they can hold no more electrons.each orbital has 2 electrons and cannot hold more(see: Pauli exclusion principle) there for your methd of creating electron holes cannot work.
-
personally i think they are talking crap. i would have to see their technology to see where its getting the energy from but i assure you its getting it from somewhere.

The twin towers did not collapse at near the rate of freefall

well, you can't get simpler and more accurate than that. although anybody with a brain could spot that it wasn't controlled. -
no. its just an impossible challenge. nobody will win it because the laws of thermo dynamics forbids it. what will happen if physicists attempt to try for this is that we will develop much more efficient technologies with efficiencies approaching 100%. it does not mean that the laws of thermodynamics will be broken just because there is a cash sum for anybody who can do it.

ok, this line of argument is going in circles. lets try a new approach. on your model of a 'strong polarised iron atom' could you please indicate where the poles are located and which pole is which.

CO2, Methane, water vapour, ozone will act as a green house gas to a limited extent, NOx, SO2 and i could go on.

We're now one step closer to achieving quantum computing, as scientists have actually altered the state of a single electron. quite amazing. http://www.tudelft.nl/live/pagina.jsp?id=4b3e55d0-1a34-4388-b3ca-acbe48c87696〈=en [Edited for sanity for front-page use - Cap'n]

semiconductors aren't used in generators.(well ok, there might be an electronic control chip but that isn't necessary to the function) p-type semiconductors are doped so that there are electron 'holes' traveling around and these holes behave like a positive electron. n-type semiconductors are doped to have electrons travelling about in them both holes and electrons move freely through out the semiconductor. when there is a joining of p-type and n-type (a p-n junction) there is a neutral one where holes and electrons have 'cancelled' each other out. when a photon of sufficient enrergy hits this area a electron-hole pair can be formed. this requires a lot less energy than an ionization as the electrons are in bonded orbitals.

A new theroy on why time travel may be impossible
insane_alien replied to alan2here's topic in Other Sciences
false dilemma. what if you appearing in the field CAUSED the lab to be built, you to build a time machine and travel back in time to the field, look about for a bit and then go back to the 'present'? confusing and mind numbing, isn't it? -
what you say is pretty accurate. and yeah the orbiting photons would be extremely intense but i think that any ship crossing the event horizon will not be worrying about damage from the light.
-
why would it drop to a lower electron shell? the lower electron shells are completely filled. this would be an extremely unfavourable situation. what actually happens is in a conductor, the outer electrons are delocalised and can flow from atom to atom. the changing magnetic field (caused by the motion of either magnet or conductor) causes the electrons to accelerate in one direction which causes a current.

i still don't see where electron holes come into it. i do know how generators and alternators work and this is why i asked you to elaborate.
-
electron holes in alternators? okay... i have never heard of anything like this. could you explain further. i think it could be a misunderstanding here

Why wouldn't hole through earth work?
insane_alien replied to Nevermore's topic in Classical Physics
Sisyphus, you forgot to add in the changes on the other side of the equation. terminal velocity for any arbitrary object at 10000 ft is greater than terminal velocity at 5000ft due to density changes in the air. -
electron holes? you mean in semiconductors or what?

why when i have my BSC(Big Shiny Calculator)? -
the others? EDIT:anjruu, if you look below my avatar it clearly states that i'm in scotland. about 20 miles from the biggest city in the country as well but thats not mentioned.
-
i have no idea where opholite hails from. but as far as i am aware, there are no radio shacks in the UK hence my distance from them. this does not mean that scotland is technologically and scientificly void. i'd appreciate it if you refrained from personal attacks. EDIT:
-
yes IR can be used to heat things but it is not heat itself. The nearest radioshack is about 3000 miles away. Photovoltaic cells to not require ionization by the light hitting them. please look up photovoltaic cells an the mechanisms involved in their operation.

heck, its got so close even the weak force can affect it.
-
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electroweak_force <--Alpha, i suggest you read here EDIT:QUOTE]high energy heat causes so much resistance that it strips away the electrons it is not resistance that strips the electrons away when a collection of atoms are heated but collisions between atoms knock electrons away. infrared is NOT heat and does NOT cause this. it is the vibrational energy of the atoms, this could have been pumped in by an IR laser but does not mean that the IR is the direct cause.
