i actually find the matrix good for when i just want to switch my mind off and enjoy lots of explosions and guns. but most of the time i'd rather watch movies with a bit of plot and continuity maybe even a bit of realism.

the site is exagerating. we have alternative fuel sources that we CAN switch to right now. its just that the oil companies are buying out the tech and keeping it down. electricity can be handled by nuclear and rewnewable sources (although nuclear will end up going the way of oil eventually(fission that is)). fuels can come from biodiesel as well as plastics and other petro chems. we would just need to step up the scale of production which is quite simple.

dstebbins, unfortunately i don't really know WHY gravity cannot be made to fit or whatever. but i think it has something to do with the way that general relativity breaks down once you get to the quantum scale and quantum field theory breaks down once you get to the macroscopic field. swansont or severian will be able to tell you more. forensicmad, your 16 so you should have done basic substitution algebra(or else the american education system is a hell of a lot worse than i thought.) so you should know that equations with like terms can be combined. just requires a bit of fiddling around.

forensic mad, E=mc^2 and F=ma can be joined to F=(E/c^2)a although thats mixing newtonian and einsteinian mechanics and isn't so good. F=ma has an einsteinian equivalent. the big problem with one single equation is that we don't have a way of linking gravitation into it. electromagnetism and weak and strong nuclear forces go in ok but gravity doesn't.

i'm not sure but try searching up "bandwidth capping" and you should get some results. unless you plan to have all 8 computers downloading at a constant rate of 1mb/s then bandwidth capping is unnecessary and restrictive.

qwerty, that router you linked to will balance the load. not all PC's will be using the maximum capacity of the connecton at the one time so bandwidth will be allocated to whoever needs the most. you could limit it but the efficiency would go down.

well 2 gigs willoffer an improvement over one gig. but its only really worth it if you do very intensive stuff like simulation and gaming. its not as much as an improvement as you would notice from 512mb to 1 gig. 4gigs is only used by certain programs so isn't really worth getting unless your running a server or some all powerful simulator. no games support it yet.

this is where us chemical engineers come in, finding a way to produce massive amounts of hydrogen(or metal hydrides or whatever storage method they'll use) as easily and inexpensively as possible. it'll probably end up as electrolysis of water but have to wait on fusion power to be effective.
