  1. gold is used because its good at shielding from electromagnetic noise from other electronic gadgets like hoovers, and electric motors (and the coils in combustion engines). there are better things than gold for heat conduction and electrical conduction.
  2. Ubuntu has good wireless support. at least, it supports mine.
  3. Why is peoples sexuality so important? Alexander the great was gay, so what? does it make a difference, no.
  4. they want you to write out the molecular formula eg. H2O, state the bond type(covalent, ionic or metallic) and whether its polar or not.
  5. KOH will act very similarly to NaOH. its entirely possible.
  6. yeah it is. i'm not exactly an expert on this stuff. i'm just going on the few things i know
  7. particle, 1/ the photon can be thought of as a ripple in the electromagnetic field. these ripples travel at c just like the waves on a pond travel at some speed call it d. 2/if we can only detect the photons that are released, then of course we're not going to detect photons that collide with the nucleus. and how do we know that they are all released perpendicular to the nucleus
  8. still, if two of the tallest buildings in the world fell down 200 meters from your house, i'm pretty sure it wouldn't be in such good shape structurally.
  9. it probably only took 1 or 2 load bearing struts to fail(after the initial damaage of a great big plane slamming into it) or even partially fail to let the top floors drop slightly to bring the hole thing down. "the straw that broke the camels back" is a good analogy for this.
  10. aluminium can, glass has a very low heat conductivity and aluminium has a very high heat conductivity. infact aluminium has such a good conductivity that it is used in heatsinks for cpu's and other electronic devices. copper is better and is used in industrial and high end heat sinks then silver which is the best(IIRC) which is rarely used in heatsinks due to the high cost. glass on the other hand is a poor conductor of heat, it is actually an insulator.
  11. there are no buildings similar to the twin towers. they're structural architecture was pretty unique. super tall buildings tend to have a specialised load bearing structure rather than a generic one. we have no idea how much load bearing capacity was destroyed on impact and then that would be further reduced by the heat. structural steel begins to lose load bearing capacity at only 500*C so in an already compromised structure this becomes significant.
  12. umm that site spawns a plethora of windows. at level 2. i don't know if its a bug or not. so umm. i'm not gonna bother.
  13. wrong terminal. positive will aid the rusting process, negative will retard it. oh and use a carbon electrode instead of having bare wire in the water. the nail will either be steel or iron, both will work. the black colour is a copper compound and the blue substance. that is why you should use a graphite(carbon) electrode.
  14. i would go for no, it is the grey sweater that is doing the absorbing and reflecting. ultimately it is the grey sweater that controls the energy input. after that the heat is no longer transmitted by electromagnetic radiation in any considerable amount.
  15. My Anti-americanism is really aimed at george bush and about 25 of the 30 americans i know personally. i mean it doesn't look good for your country when i can only stand to be around 5 out of 30 for more than 5 minutes at a time. although all the americans on this forum are cool.
  16. and you have proof of this do you? how does what ever the hell it is get to C anyway. its an invalid frame for anything with mass.

    Dating

Herme3, from what you've said in this thread(and others) she is the only girl you know(besides relatives and teachers). How do you know that there is nobody else out there? Why not go to a club or something and start meeting people. or join some sort of club/society outside of school. something you like doing so that you'll meet people with similar interests. If you are adamant about trying to get with her and won't even consider another option. Ask her if she wants to hang out after school, go to the cinema, mall, whatever is popular... if she says yes, just go and hang out, don't try and push or force anything.just hang out. if she says no, thats fine. it doesn't mean your a loser. i still think you should move on.
  20. sunspot, wtf is the point in this post? you've said, due to S.R. nothing can reach C because the universe doesn't have enough energy. so... we already knew that. this is nothing new.
  21. you cannot tell the difference between them all elementary particles of the same type are identical.
  22. Are we reading the same thread?
  23. Yeah, i'm for parental control based on what i seen as a kid with complete freedom. if i hadn't seen what i did i would probably be a whole lot less f***ed up. just shove the pc in the living room. they won't dare go on anything dodgy if theres a parent around.
