  1. I like Phi's suggestion. I can't read the whole story, its just not my cup of tea. now if it had a nuclear war or two with an asteroid impact and robots killing robots... then i might give it another shot.
  2. Carbon monoxide can bind very strongly to the the iron centre in haemoglobin. more strongly than oxygen. basically it stops your blood carrying oxygen. in the short term, this is an accumulative effect. but the "bad blood" would work its way out of your system. assuming you were still alive and didn't breathe any more CO.
  3. get some friends to help you cover a police car in ducttape. thats always fun.
  4. turkey is a muslim country.

ROFLMAO! it could be that it was an attempt to look smart that just went waaaaaayyyyyyyy off the mark.
  7. or maybe a way to unplug her. you know cut the power.
  8. bug gets vapourized by the current.
  9. yeah not only do you need to get up to ~160km so atmospheric drag isn't a big problem, you need to build up about 7.3km/s horizontal velocity(hence the massiveness of the rockets and their fuel tanks.) if you launch to the east then you've already got about 400m/s from the rotation of the earth.(depends where you are though)
  10. once you get to 18 going to the pub loses the fun a bit.
  11. id guess 30 degrees. on practical experience
  12. I'm sorry but is that not exactly the same as "there's too much information here, it must be false, i'll just ignore it and it'll go away".
  13. i could fit them into one space if you gave me access to a crane and/or a hydraulic press.
  14. yeah he's the discworld guy. the books are really good. lots of magic and non sience so its a good break from the sientific environs of here and universities
  15. Yay terry prachet. he makes everything awesome.
  16. It did seem like a good idea at the time.
  17. Yes, and its not as good as it sounds.
  18. its a big ocean, any effect it had is probably negligible now.
  19. Happy birthday 5614. i'm not sure how i can top the wrist computer. i'll give it a go anyway. I present to you... a f**k it, heres a spoon.
  20. Dalek, but ID isn't a theory as has been explained previously in this thread and in countless others.
  21. how often do you find the heavy elements in their elemental form? rarely(exceptions being the platinum group). they are usually in compouds where the density is a whole lot lower. this brings up the nice physical aspect of buoyancy. this is why we still have heavy elements up here. not to mention the flows in the mantle that cause volcanoes. thes would also bring up heavier stuff. the earth is still geologically active.
  22. evolution can sort out the swimming problem eventually. Chimps are too impulsive, Orang-utans seem more like the wise philosopher type.
  23. thats because you need way more than 500 negative bricks. with -500 you might have -half a wall.
  24. Ok so i've noticed that in a lot of threads just now it all seems to be going horribly off topic before being closed by a moderator and ending what could have been a good discussion if it had its own thread. Since i'm a bit of a fan of how a discusions topic can change over time(how me and my friends got from a debate about the matrix trilogy to the monarchy of sweden i will never know) i wanted to start a thread where there is no set topic and it just gradually flows from one subject to another, hopefully without being shut down by a mod. Just call it an experiment. So, now to start off with were going to need a topic to begin a half decent disscussion that everybody can get into.... i think we should start with the best starter topic ever: Whats more awesome, an Orang-utan or a Chimpanzee? I have to go for the Orang-utan because the wee Orang-utan children look like they are made of orange fluff. and who wouldn't want the huge arms. just think of how hard you could whack the stupid out of a creationist.
