1. hey silk, at this distance from big ol' sol the water would turn into a gas or if it some formed as a solid it would sublime. this would happen especially if there is an impact large enough to eject all the water on earth since there would be some stupendously high energies.
2. microwave ovens use 2.4GHz it heats the water best. the greater the wattage the greater the intensity in this case.
3. its done in half percentages so 200 proof is 100% alcohol. by the way this would be more apropriate in organic chemistry as alcohols are organic.
4. i feel like i've been tweaking all day so i'm not surprised i'm finding patterns everywhere. last night i found a crisp that looked like fonzie.
5. lets see, now, on my father's side my family started off in italy in a small village in tuscany called lucca. with the surname lucchesi you can see there are some obvious links(my ancestors founded it ). i can trace my family to the italian mafia but its far from close. on my mothers side it seems to be scottish through and through.
6. yes only 10-40% of our neurons are firing at any given time when awake. this doesn't mean that these are the only ones that fire and are firing all the time. 40% does seem kind of high. i suspect that's with some very intensive task, or a seizure.
7. this post is dedicated to herpguy. another brilliant thread!
8. yeah the core is a load of rubbish the only thing it got right was the fact that people live on the earth. thats all. see here: http://www.badastronomy.com/bad/movies/thecore_review.html
9. but this has never been observed so why should there be a theory about it. there is NO absolute reference frame in the universe this is why it is called relativity. you just spouted a load of mince there.
10. well since your breaking a physical law anything can happen. so it can neither be true nor false. or the objects could turn into a spermwhale and a bowl of petunias. it all depends on how it is violated
11. http://www-spc.igpp.ucla.edu/personnel/russell/papers/venus_mag/ this provides a bit more detail. anway the rate at which atmosphere is lost is tiny. venus has had its atmosphere for around 5 billion years so i don't think its going anywhere fast.
12. mars has a thin atmosphere not because of a lack of a magnetic field but because of a lack of a strong gravitaional field. why would we lose our atmosphere without a magnetic field anyway? the solar wind isn't exactly dense enough to do it in fact its more likely that we would absorb he solar wind and the atmosphere would in effect get thicker. its only around 30 particles per cubic meter. its still a better vacuum than we can produce in a lab. i really don't see it blowing away the atmosphere of a planet. also the atmosphere is non magnetic so it can't be held down by the magnetic field. i can't think of an way for it to be lost due to lack of a magnetic field.
13. no but in my opinion it wouldn't really be an improvement.
14. maybe this will help
15. i'm happy the way things are. why fix something that isn't broke.
16. anyone else think that looks like a tounge? you can even see the right eye 3/4's of the way up the left side.
17. the earths magnetic field does diddly squat to prtect the earths atmosphere. mars has an atmosphere and it doesn't have a magnetic field, venus doesn't have a magnetic field and if you say that doesn' have an atmosphere i'll hit you.
18. well s/he could be meaning that all life on the planet goes extinct. but this does not necesarily mean that water breaks down into hydrogen and oxygen. i don't really have much of an idea what s/he is thinking. pretender can you expand a little please.
19. if evolution doesn't have enough proof then creationism is in the crapper cause it has less evidence than evolution. by less evidence i mean it has none unless you count that 1 2000 year old document that has many factual errors and has underwent numerous political re-edits and censorships, probably so much as to lose whatever origional order may possibly have been there may have been at first.
20. May they wake up in bed with a walrus when they have been out drinking. and may there be pictures on the web.
21. just tried it with a couple of graduated cylinders both samples at room temperature and it came to 100cm^3 i think you need to regraduate your equipment
22. there is no discussion because you have not provided a direction for any discussion. you have just gave a fact and said discuss. discuss what? we could discuss the pros and cons of removing physical standards from our definition of units or we could discuss the pros and cons of have a universal standard set of units. if you want to spark a discussion you need to give us a direction otherwise its like trying to light a fire without any fuel.

Ibod?

or windows. you don't want to get it stuck on setting forever. i think linux is the OS for this one.
24. may they have the constant urge to see what would happen if they grated their testicles.
25. how would a planet die? if you mean blow up than that'll only happen if there is a HUGE impact or a particularly violent advanced race living on it. besides hydrogen is the most common element in the universe. its every where already.
