what can we learn from it? nothing. there is absolutely nothing to learn from it. for example, how can i use this to learn about the navier-stokes equations or gravitation or radioactive decay, or even newtons laws of motion. i see no application for this.

so, this is based on the bible? hardly a reliable source. for one it clearly states that pi is equal to 3. editing posts after they have been replied to is also a bit dishonest.

a picture of interconnecting points? aye, right, like that explains everything. put up or shut up.

yes, so? civilization is built on trade. if you have somthing of equal value to what you want then you can trade. its not necessarily greed but just balancing. if the people who produced the medication sold it at a loss, they'd quickly go out of business and therefore be unable to discover and make new medications. this would be worse than just those without resources being unable to afford medication. and can you show me what simple to produce medication is being sold at artificially inflated prices? because it is highly unlikely that simple to produce medications are still being discovered. simply because not many are being researched. provide some evidence. there is no conspiracy.

no, and you haven't shown a thing.

Links Missing or non-existing?
insane_alien replied to blood_pardon's topic in Evolution, Morphology and Exobiology
synthosis, that logic doesn't seem to apply to creationists. i have seen them ask for the missing link between generations. they seemed to think an intermediate was required between mother and daughter according to evolution. -
what the hell are you on about?
-
you could use the search function. the topic has been discussed at length several times on the forum and elsewere. it cannot be used for superluminal information transfer. nothing goes faster than light, no information, nothing.

rickdog, did you read my explanation of WHY new drugs are expensive? its not a matter of its cheaply produced but drug cartels are jacking the price up artificially, its that the medicines are expensive to produce due to the vast amounts of raw material and processing required. some of them really do cost $1000 a pill to produce. thats just in cost of the materials required to get enough of the product to make a dose. this is because they're HARD to make. if a medicine requires a thousand steps in its synthesis, then its going to be expensive. why, because at each stage in the synthesis, there are going to be yeild losses. there's going to be wastage. there's going to be spoiling. etc. this will all drive the price up. there's no way to get around this. there are steps you can take to minimize it but these are already taken. its not just greed here. i just don't get why you seem to think, a high value product is only high value because some people say it is. its high value for a reason.

Links Missing or non-existing?
insane_alien replied to blood_pardon's topic in Evolution, Morphology and Exobiology
so you know there is a massive amount of evidence, there are literally whole libraries worth of observations, experimentation, data, analysis of data, samples, specimens, etc etc. that back up evolution but yet you continue to say 'there isn't much evidence' and i probably have access to more material than you do as i have access to several university libraries. -
yes, i know it doesn't fully describe the state of the system, but it ascribes a value to it that is a mathematical relationship of those various parameters and is immensly useful when the system is changing as it can be described by this changing value. equations of state just provide useful values for detwermining the properties.

Links Missing or non-existing?
insane_alien replied to blood_pardon's topic in Evolution, Morphology and Exobiology
blood_pardon, i suggest you visit a library. one with an extensive science section. then go look up some of the books or journals on evolutionary biology. if you wanted all the evidence FOR evolution, then you are going to be out of luck, because in order to read all of it as it was presented, it would take longer than your lifetime. infact, there is so much new evidence FOR evolution coming in that you'd never be able to keep up with all of it. even if you looked in a subset of the evidence, say genetics, you still wouldn't be able to keep up. saying 'there's so little evidence for it' is like standing next to everest and saying 'don't see the big deal, its only a 2inch high mole hill. -
i'll reword it in a simpler way that you'll perhaps understand. An equation of state is a function that describes the present state of a system in a single value that is independant of the history of the system. basically it means, the history of the system is irrelevant, the current state doesn't depend on it. this is true, it is impossible to determine whether a system has undergone a reaction or you have just mixed fresh reagents in the proportions likely to be found after a reaction is completed.

Life's creation conundrum
insane_alien replied to Aitor's topic in Evolution, Morphology and Exobiology
this isn't a blog aitor, -
yes, but hawking radiation is a whole slew of particles and photons so there would still be matter about unless the mater released actually decays in and of itself.
-
nah, brains are slow as hell.
-
unknown. protons might decay but we have not been able to measure it which sets an extremely high lower bound on the halflife. if they do decay, then eventually everything will become electromagnetic radiation. if they don't then stuff will hang around until its swallowed by a black hole.
-
well, yes, i meant the source of the CMBR.

quantum entanglement is not superluminal.

i don't think cancer is the biggest worry in haiti at the moment rickdog... as for medicines being expensive, well of course the new ones are going to be expensive, they typically have long complex syntheses with low yeilds and there is typically only one or two manufacturing plants in the world. when things are in short supply, they are expensive. there isn't really anyway round it. yes, it's unfortunate that we have no way to cheaply synthesize any compound we want, but at the moment there isn't much we can do about it. once we have replicator technology ala star trek then whatever gets discovered will be pretty cheap. but for the moment thats sci-fi and will remain so for the forseeable future.
-
what sort of vacuum are you going to have it under? this will greatly affect the result.
-
they are massless, but they do carry momentum. waves do not require mass to carry momentum, the momentum they carry is proportional to their frequency. there is a quantum mechanical explanation for this that i'm not too familiar with, but it is there.

Links Missing or non-existing?
insane_alien replied to blood_pardon's topic in Evolution, Morphology and Exobiology
blood_pardon, every individual creature is transitional. the only time when they are not transitional is when they are the last surviving creature of the species and then they die. why do you think we are not a transitional species? evolution is still at work we are what we are now, but in a few hundred thousand years we will be something else. what, well we can't say as we cannot predict the future, but we won't be strictly human. -
what happens if you keep on charging a capacitor?
insane_alien replied to the guy's topic in Physics
orbit? what? if the capacitor is charged to a voltage greater than the dielectric breakdown voltage of the dielectric used in the capacitor then it will be destroyed. this is well known. -
if it can't be measured then it does not affect reality and is therefore irrelevant. if it has an effect on reality then it is measurable and therefore is relavant. it cannot be both.
