  1. that an the curvature isn't going to be all that great. probably a wave length on the order of 10 meters. not going to cause too much problems, if it was on the order of 50cm or so then you might have a case but that would still be fine.
  2. motor, lightbulb it all works the same and you need more than microamps to drive one. if you want people to believe you then post evidence.
  3. and i'm saying try it and see. this is the point of experimentation. if you don't know something, try it out and then draw some conclustions from it. also, milk is a non-newtonian fluid on its own without anything added.
  4. wasn't the upper stage supposed to fly cleanly off? hope the get the separation right before they stick people on it.
  5. why don't you try it and see. science fairs are all about the experimentation.
  6. glass is opaque to infrared light. you are making the claim, the burden of proof lies on you.
  7. not when it is dark out. which is when the incident occured. evidence for this?
  8. just to clear things up by 'oobleck' (the only mention of this i can find is in a Dr. Seuss childrens book) do you mean cornstarch and water mix as indicated later in your post? you may wish to look up non-newtonian fluids in your research specifically dilatent or shear-thickening non-newtonian fluids.
  9. yep, a circle perpendicular to the ground. as oposed to lying flat against the ground.
  10. i think you're lying. infact, i KNOW you are lying. i took 3 rechargeable batteries and a small 1v lightbulb. i also hooked up an ammeter. i arranged them in the confuguration shown in schematic 1. a grand total of bugger all happened. no light was lit and the ammeter didn't register more than a sliver of current(microamp ranges). it doesn't work. at all.
  11. ahem, read my username again.
  12. 1/ yes you can create torque with magnetism, this is the principle behind electric motors 2/ yep if you have magnetic fields of the right strength
  13. the molecules are jiggling about in random directions, the forces that cause them to change direction are intermolecular/interatomic forces holding the substance together. as the direction at any given time is random, the sum of the velocities is zero. if you heat it up, they move faster, if you cool it down the move slower. the movement of the particles is the very definition of temperature.
  14. it would have to be much stronger than the potential of the battery as you have to over come the electrochemical reaction happening in the battery and put it into reverse(this is not always possible by simply applying a constant reverse voltage). chances are that at best this would result in nothing, at worst you damage a battery. don't believe me? get yourself three batteries and a small low voltage lightbulb and try it out. i also don't know where you get the idea of this being free energy either. even if it did work, think about it, you need three batteies to power something that previously needed 1 battery. infact, you'd probably need more as the reverse battery will have a horrendously high resistance. right so we have one flat battery, lets assume it only takes one battery to recharge it and by some miravcle it works fine, and then you have 1 battery left to actually power the light bulb. so you have 2 batteries worth of charge to start with. we'll also assume the only exit for energy is the lightbulb(not true but that just makes your position even worse. so one battery drains itself to recharge the other and the battery powering the light bulb runs flat. but the other battery gets fully charged. now you have only 1 charged battery. so to make it work again you need to swap out a used battery with a charged battery. you'd have been better off just using the two charged batteries one after the other and it would be twice as long before you need to bring a new battery into the system. and remember, this is the best case scenario assuming no internal resistance to the batteries, no inefficiencies in the charging and storage of the battery etc etc. reality really will be 'it doesn't work'
  15. it isn't chiral at all as the mirror image is the same as a rotation of the molecule. if it were chiral then the mirror image would not be the same as a rotation. lets use the hand example, your hands are the same but mirrored, if you rotate your left hand so the thumbs are the same way you can see they are not the same(they are chiral) if you rotate your left hand and it looked exactly the same as your right then they would not be chiral. do you understand now?
  16. his 'free energy' is merely putting a battery cell in the series in reverse. so he has |+-|-+|+-| at best in theory this would just cancel out two of the batteries nd act as if there was only one cell. in practice however this just plain wouldn't work as batteries don't work in reverse.
  17. from the videos it looks like he has a relatively big yard, and the woman and her kid got very close to the house, meaning if they had stuck to where they were supposed to be they wouldn't have seen a thing(no pun intended)
  18. i think you mean He-3 in your reactions there.
  19. you obviously weren't coherent as i was notthe only one to reach the conclusion i did. if nobody understands what you mean, perhaps it is because YOU are not communicating well.
  20. millenia old fictional writings don't have relevancy here.
  21. if parents aren't teaching their kids about basic human anatomy and function until puberty then perhaps it is them who should be shot. i've known what a penis and vagina is since... well i can't remember ever not knowing the distinction(although i did know them by other names). to synthosis, if people are peeking in your windows then it is them that is at fault if the catch a glimpse of your dangly bits as they should be respecting your privacy. also, i don't see how exposure to genetalia and grevious bodily harm with an umbrella are equivalent.
  22. yes that is true, but for it to be chiral you need to have AT LEAST 4 different kinds of functional groups attached to the carbon. in this case you have the rest of the molecule and 3 hydrogens. its 4 seperate bonds but only 2 kinds. it is not chiral. i know your trying to help but two points on it, 1/ you are going about it the wrong way(giving out answers instead of teaching how to arrive at answers) 2/ you are trying to talk authoratatively on subjects where you do not have a firm grasp of the subject matter. the intentions are good, but the method is quite shaky.
  23. that carbon is not chiral though. for it to stand a chance of being chiral you'd have to replace two of the hydrogens with something else at the very least.
  24. this is homework help, we do NOT just give the answer away immediately. we try to help the user understand the problem so s/he can figure it out themselves. the whole give a man a fish and he'll eat for day, teach him to fish and he'll never go hungry again kind of thing.
  25. further more, by knowing the 'path' of the third side means you either need to know an angle or a length. then it is trivial to solve.
