TFG or That Florida Guy? Either way, can the GOP win in 2024?
StringJunky replied to Phi for All's topic in Politics
Yep. It feels like the SC majority are now becoming more naked and proactive in their support of the GOP by bending or obfuscating the interpretations of the Constitution to support them and Trump in the long term. -

Do people think having Trump's fraud sentencing delayed until September might be a good a thing and bad for Trump and GOP because it will more likely to be to the fore in voters minds come November? -

I think getting them to rethink the ruling by Biden doing something out of his normal professional ballpark that reflects the potential scope of the new law and what the GOP are doing and setting up for. It could deflect their plans. A plan such as this Intercept article suggests. -
Or into neuroplastically regenerating my auditory nerves, so that I and others can hear properly. 62 years and I'm still waiting. People think like there's just like one pot of money.

Time is like mass, length velocity; a parameter or dimension. Seconds exist as much as kilograms do. If one precisely measures the time elapsed from the frame of two objects moving with different but constant velocity, they will not be the same. Because there is a measurable difference, one can conclude time is physical and real. That which can be measured exists.

Why is there so many failures occurring at launch presently if that was the case? All that elementary launch stuff would be nailed down pat by now if there had been continuity and recorded. SpaceX et al wouldn't be doing the mistakes that they are.

As I've just mentioned, the Apollo program is an object lesson of what happens when continuity of development and experienced people is lost. It is impossible to record every single little bit of critical knowledge and techniques that is contained within experts minds from any given period.

Yes. This is like the space program after the Apollo missions were ended. The momentum and skills were lost.

2024 Presidential Election: Who should replace Joe Biden?

Pride comes before a fall. He clearly has no sense of realistic personal insight. He's just soldiering on regardless. -
2024 Presidential Election: Who should replace Joe Biden?

Jill Biden uses Biden's long experience as a defence as well, it seems. Experience is no good if one can't draw from it in his job, on demand and in short order. -

People are now going to be laser-focused on everything he says and does. Sometimes a spade is a spade. WYSIWYG is applying here. -

You are looking at it the wrong way. Biden is not the only option. Nobody here wants Trump to win, so, in order to increase the chances of that nightmare not happening, the Dems need a new candidate. Yes, Biden's record has been fine, but on its own does not qualify him to carry on if some of those attributes are disappearing before everyone's eyes. Nothing and no one lasts forever in one piece. So it is with Biden. C'est la vie. I honestly don't believe the core of this situation is propaganda in this case, but the longer Biden carries on now, the less chance there is of turning things around before November. The snowball of concern has been pushed and will only get bigger. -

If the result is close as expected, the swing voters/floaters could push Trump over the finishing line. -
The first two in each set seem good to me.

What is my agenda? That I want to see a GOP presidency the way they are now? -

Yes, the GOP are making meal of it, but I think you realize that we here are not pro-Trump and trying to undermine Biden in a partisan manner. It is what what it is, with regard to what we observe. For what it's worth, I would rather have Biden over Trump regardless of his physical and cognitive state. For having just these two as the only choices from a population of 340m is a rather sad state of affairs though. I'm firmly with MigL on setting an age limit to reduce the possibility of this happening again. There is no place for sentimentality in national and global politics -

Reading today, BBC I think, Two medical pro's have him down as showing Parkinson's. GOP propaganda or not, Biden is cognitively and physically declining. The effect on him is global. -
Applying the same idea/rule as before: In the above sentence, 'month' is the shortest period-unit, since there are 12 months in the year, and 'year' is the plurality of a 'month'. So, it is quite correct to say "On the last month of the year. Context matters whether in or on is used,
-
As an English native, I would say "IN the last month", suggesting within a period of a month. A 'month' is a plurality of 'days'. The correct time to use 'on' is when describing singular days, In this context, 'days' represent a singular period-unit that is not considered divisible. So, you can't meet someone "In Wednesday", but you can meet them "On Wednesday".

I had coffee earlier with a friend. He's not much into US politics, but he did comment that he should step aside after seeing snippets of last night. Age has caught up with him. Another 4 years of Trump is a very real possibility if he doesn't step down. Biden is not competent enough anymore. If he doesn't leave, I think he will ruin his overall legacy because how he is now is what people will remember. -
I notice on FB that some people are typing in a format like this: The in.cid.ent took place on July 19..... What is the bolded (for clarity) part about? Is it some sort of algorithm censor bypassing technique? If so, why would the seemingly innocuous word 'incident' be presented like that?

Just had a look on my Android phone (Android 13 OS) with Brave installed and gone on this site. No ads. Brave Shields, the built-in blocker on its own seems to do the trick. Click on the the lion icon up top to toggle it off for a site if it gets in the way of access. There are two levels of ad removal: aggressive and normal, and other options. If it's too stripped down for you, but works here, you could just use it for here and use Chrome for your other sites.
