  1. Yes... at the time. With respect to your quote of my quote: If you want to see through a biased lens , that's up to you..
  2. it was based on their reasons which were deemed practical at the time... they didn't want to waste money on people that were more likely to have a short career. They wanted more return on their investment. It's not justifying it, it's observing without colouring what one is seeing with ones moral compass.
  3. Your assessment is correct. As for the comment by JC about my quote: he is obviously ignorant to the concept of humorous, fictitious attribution.
  4. No, I was replying to the fact he said it was nonsense. And I have noted that its cost them. One needs to to learn to discuss behaviours in non-judgemental terms sometimes i.e. take ones heart off ones sleeve and just discuss dispassionately, otherwise it just descends into an emotional morass. I don't want words putting in my mouth. I don't put them in yours.
  5. It wasn't fair but the motives were entirely practical. The fear was spending funds on people who were most likely to leave to have kids. They are paying the price now because the old population exceeds the young.
  6. I 50:50 it with coconut oil to make a preshave
  7. You haven't watched Alien then.
  8. You apparently need to use organic dye powder, not water-based. 'Organic' as in carbon-based or synthetic, so don't go confusing that with stuff made according to the growing philosophy.
  9. Like DrP says, if the smell has changed I'd bin it.
  10. It's to do with empathy.
  11. I'll go for option 2. There has to be some sort of scientific hypothesis that describes a possible mechanism before it can be considered.
  12. How can hydrogen peroxide be converted to saline when there's no saline components in the molecule? They are separate products . Concerning period of effectiveness: the peroxide is probably constantly decomposing to the point that, after 7 days, it''s no longer considered useful as a disinfectant. It is not an inherently stable molecule, which makes sense when you think that if it was stable it would not be reactive for killing pathogens. Saline works by creating a diffusion gradient such that water is sucked out of any micro-organisms present. The solution uses a two-pronged approach to keeping the lenses sterile.
  13. A 'cycle' is a repetition of what came before i.e there is a sameness.
  14. I bought a very cheap digital hygrometer and used this method to check it: https://www.wikihow.com/Test-a-Hygrometer . Can someone explain how the salt/water slurry regulates atmosphere within the bag to this specific figure of 75%? My device measured 76%... close enough. I mixed it to a consistency of snow. Here's my test setup. It's actually reading 75% now. If you move the apparatus the measured humidity changes a lot then settles back to 75%
  15. You're probably thinking of the cmos battery.
  16. It only needs to be cold enough at elevation for glaciers to form. Just because a particular glacier dries up doesn't mean another one can't follow it's place. A particular glacier is not special.
  17. Eliminate any possible medical problem first with a medic then play around with what you can find if they find nothing.
  18. I'm just speaking for myself mate. At 57, fossilisation is advanced, The nature of the world around us, as we understand it scientifically, is necessarily an abstraction and someon'e's visualisation isn't necessarily going to get you closer to the underlying principles, which are usually mathematical.
  19. I have noticed an increasing dearth of textual citations in favour of video formats... they are too slow to process, They turn me off. Science is facts not pretty pictures.
  20. Whether a depression is meaningful or meaningless depends whether the cause is endogenous (neurologica)l or reactive due to some personal adverse event or injury. The former could be classesd as meaningless because its cause is due to some unknown neurochemical events that is essentially spontaneous. If a person has a painful/debilitating, progressive, terminal condition. I wouldn''t call them deluded for being depressed and wanting to end their life.
  21. You could get a mod with temperature control - which is common - and set it to water's BP, then fill the tank with water. I think deionized would be best so as not to scale up the coil. I'll try it later and report.
  22. If we want chlorine in our chicken we'll add salt.
  23. What does it matter? It's all shit however you colour it.
  24. Yeah, right. I added another offence in my post above.
  25. The Opposition leader was refused a meeting because he spoke against him at a Trump protest rally and, worse still, refused to attend a banquet with the queen in attendance as well.. He deserved it, frankly.
