  1. Brass (active ingredient is copper) or copper doorknobs need to be polished regularly to remove corrosion from the salts in sweat to maintain the desired properties since it's the free metal that has them. I suppose the same applies to impregnated fabrics.
  2. 'Where it's at' is more about the state of a situation currently, or to put it another way: this is the present state of play or fashion. It's a colloquial/informal expression and shouldn't be used in any formal work or conversation.
  3. And that doesn't suggest that he would find killing all of them desirable? Also, this bit, to me, infers that killing them is a good thing and note the non-sequiter: If he'd said that copper had specificity for some or all pathogenic species that would be different.
  4. The difference is in intent. There's also a difference in efficacy. You don't want to annihilate the population. That should have been obvious when I used the word 'commensal'.
  5. Why would i want to harm my bodys commensal bacteria when their presence protects me?
  6. Never knew writing a book of fiction was nonsense. The OP is looking for a technical term where a child is at an intermediate stage in their develpment between male and female. I don't know the medical term but may be searching for term when real babies are without gender after fertilisation might be the one to use.
  7. Agender stage.
  8. There are different esters, aldehydes and possibly a little bit of methanol etc in drinks. Perhaps these contribute to the final effect.
  9. Indicas tend to be slower onset, more soporific and dreamy than sativas which generally act quicker, are more hallucinogenic and shorter acting. There's lots in between with cross-breeding but I think those are the general trends. Like with alcohol, the rate of ingestion and concentration are two very big factors determining the type of effects. I think different ratios of psychoactive components are absorbed depending on method of delivery and also the rates of supply and absorption will be different.
  10. Most of the warheads in Europe are US made and likely controlled. I think only France and the UK have some operational independence, being distinct nuclear nations. If Japan, Australia and S. Africa have them, they'll be under a similar arrangement with the US as with the European bloc.
  11. Do you think the best way is just a proportional restriction in both fats and carbs.and whatever the protein level is for healthy maintenance i.e. not restricting the first two so much that the protein is used as energy?
  12. Thanks. I didn't realise that was the first page or else i wouldn't have asked the question because it was too far back really.
  13. If infinity is without limit then infinity/x (but not infinity) = infinity. i can't see how it can be anything else. I'm no mathematician but is that not so?
  14. Dissociative identity disorder or multiple personality disorder. An 'alter' is one of the personality manifestations. http://www.webmd.com/mental-health/dissociative-identity-disorder-multiple-personality-disorder#1
  15. Yeah, that one kills it. As they say, it cannot be transformed away.
  16. Is spacetime flat for a free falling observer? Locally.
  17. I know but the freefalling object is not 'feeling' gravity so its frame is inertial, is it not?
  18. Wouldn't a freefalling body come under SR and GR can be ignored? There's no acceleration.
  19. Not many. He's born at the perfect time.
  20. You are probably as pissed off as I was about it clouding over when Halley's comet came in 1986. I've got to stay alive until I'm 99 now.
  21. This is where the idea of meaningful events comes in i.e. beyond what most people would consider outside normal stochastic variation.. His 'luck' became meaningful to mean that his actions were more apparently fraudulent with each consecutive win..
  22. Mostly, you'll remember the things that interest you.
