  1. If you are going out to dinner, it is in the evening. If you are going out to lunch, it is about mid-day.
  2. Through the ages the gold was constantly being recycled and up until the age of micro-components wasn't actually being 'used up' or unrecyclable. Apparently, we are now in a situation where we are starting to use gold in an unrecoverable manner and therefore could conceivably exhaust it.
  3. Are all these, that have just come, connected to the same IP? They are all for the same product it seems yet different users. What's going on here?
  4. Delightful! You Sir, are very good.
  5. It's worth a try and little inconvenience i reckon.
  6. All electronic mail can be scanned (and stored) but paper mail can only realistically be sampled in a limited way for content....it's too labour-intensive to physically open and read all paper. mail. Statistically, your odds of getting a "dodgy" letter through are much better i think.
  7. The surveillance is not secret because you know all your internet/telephone communications are being routinely sieved for target material and stored...one should act in the light of this. If one really wants privacy, post a letter made from trees not electrons.
  8. I thought if an incoming photon's frequency was high enough it would be sufficient to raise an electron to the next energy level - if not it would be re-emitted? I'm thinking of the property of transparency.
  9. The OP's problem was one I had on another forum which puzzled me for a good while and your answer is a very plausible one.
  10. What proportion of individuals, that express a mutation, are needed for a population to be said to have evolved?
  11. Yes, evolution, biologically, pertains to living things AFAIK. Anything that causes a change in an organism's genome may ultimately alter it's species' evolution, if circumstances favour it..
  12. The keyword in that definition is frequency and I don't know what the established consensus is on the minimum percentage required in the sample for it to be said that the population has evolved. you need a someone more knowledgeable than me to chime in to answer that.
  13. In biology, evolution is change in allele frequency over time, where an allele is one form of possible expression of a gene e.g. short or tall. I might well be wrong but I would have thought the flame-throwered sample's evolutionary line would be classed as becoming extinct, not evolved. If you are also thinking about pre-life 'evolution', encompassing the transition from precursor molecules to the first living organisms, this is called abiogenesis.
  14. My experience here tells me you are getting negged for negative attitude and delivery, which you are showing in spades, not for appearing to be wrong.
  15. It seems they do go down to 0.1mm: http://www.amazon.com/Carbide-Micro-Drill-0-1mm-Dremel/dp/B0087M0QA2
  16. Do we want a cosy cloistered forum full of devout followers of the scientific method all singing from the same songsheet?...nah! Having the whole gamut of doubting humanity pitting their wits against science here is what science is about...peer review.
  17. Make and have a play with these proven designs then modify one, incorporating elements from the others. http://www.paperaeroplanes.com/
  18. I copied it to here for you: Twin Clocks 1. inertial vs. non-inertial fig. 1 fig.2 In fig.1, two identical clocks A and B are initially moving in the direction B1. At event-1 A decelerates (red) and moves onto path A. At event-2 B decelerates (red) and moves onto path B2. At event-3 A decelerates to move onto path B2. The red segments of the A path are formed by cutting a copy of the red B segment by the line from event-2 perpendicular to the A-path. The two segments are shifted to the endpoints of the A-path in the same order. fig.3 Fig.3 shows the velocity vectors (black) at the start and finish of each red segment. The speed profile for the two separate segments when joined together is equivalent to the single B-segment in form and duration (t). The accumulated time for the profile is determined by integration of the instantaneous speed along the path, and therefore independent of the clocks. Considering the method just described, there is no fundamental difference in inertial motion and non-inertial motion. The clock serves as a mechanical integrator, that adjusts to variable speed, and records the results. The accumulated time during deceleration is thus the same for any clock following that profile, and any difference for two clocks must occur during the straight line (inertial) portions of the paths, as shown in fig.2, where the straight portions are rejoined to form a scaled down version of the original triangle.
  19. Your recurrent use of the word "propaganda^ is clearly indicative of mind locked in an intransigent belief-system, like that of a devoutly religious person. I'm not going to bother trying to alter it because I know its totally futile...change can only come from within, like I did to myself. Anyway, it's no good for fresh's problem..
  20. How does it's use medically support your use of it recreationally? Morphine has medical use but not really advisable for leisure.is it?
  21. Interesting JC. You can see the transition from unrecognisable (10th C.) to just recognisable (14th C.) to modern (16th C.) .Lord's Prayer (10th century) 1 [....]g fæder, þu þe on heofonum eardast, 2 geweorðad wuldres dreame. Our Father (16th Century) Our Father which art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive them that trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation. But deliver us from evil.(
  22. The soporific sleep-inducing effects of marijuana wear off after a while and can actually itself cause insomnia. Like any drug, tolerance increases and you have to take more to get the soporific effect. Don't go down that road fresh. It would probably increase any anxieties you might have. This is gleaned from 22 years almost daily experience. I've rarely had it in the last 11 years. Anybody that takes it now cannot be objective about its long-term effects until it is but a fragment of their memory and have a 'clean' state-of-mind to analyse it from.
  23. If the universe is everything, it cannot move or rotate relative to itself...it would have to be in some other volume for it to rotate relative to. To think otherwise is equivalent to trying to pick yourself up by your own feet.
