  1. I seriously recommend at some point when you have some free time and focus you do a clean install and then image it. When you get puzzling moments like this you can often just overwrite the problem with a clean system or at ;least work with less variables...we do things unwittingly and inexplicable things occur over time that are bound to happen eventually. I'm having the same sort of problems but it's to do with locking my system down to tightly, with Hosts files and God knows what other tweaks I've done and forgotten and some website connections are being rejected...I do have the option of putting a new image on if I can't stand it any more though..only takes 25 minutes.
  2. Moon Try Comodo Dragon which you can have it use it's own secure servers...it's exactly like Chrome but more security featured. The server part filters for malware sites so you are warned about them. Using their servers might help or give a clue. You can import your Chrome settings and bookmarks by clicking on the dragon icon. It won't replace Chrome when you install it. http://www.comodo.com/home/browsers-toolbars/browser.php
  3. Try this as well. It doesn't permanently install on your computer. Double-click its icon > Click Search > It will show a log of everything it finds; click it off > Click Delete and when it's done it will ask to reboot. See if that sorts it. M/Bytes will take a fair while so run this one first...only takes a couple of minutes to run. http://www.softpedia.com/get/Antivirus/Removal-Tools/AdwCleaner.shtml Malwarebytes is very good but it deals with malware and this might just be a Potentially Unwanted Program (PUP) and I don't think it deals with them a PUP is usually downloaded by people who do not read the Terms and Conditions before they download and consequently download extra bundled crap...which is what you may have. The other one to try is SuperAntispyware. Get the free or portable version. http://www.superantispyware.com/ If these fail, start a thread in Computer forum and we'll look closer...don't want to clutter this thread.
  4. Useful theoretical implications = Theoretically, something may be useful. 'What is the ultimate purpose of Evolution?' is an example of a meaningless philosophical question because it implies that it is being premeditatively guided,..which is cobblers. I use meaningless in the sense that a question is lacking in validity or utility. Hint: Ask the author what he means before you ridicule him.
  5. That could be the title of the sister thread to this one.
  6. Absolutely, It more or less takes a genius to see a ground-breaking correlation, or else, why wasn't it found before? Serendipity is a product of hindsight....shame we can't exploit it at the time.
  7. A thought concerning the OP. The scientists here are not reluctant to accept new ideas; they are reluctant to accept wrong ideas. I'm sure swansont et al read every new idea presented here and continue reading it until it falls apart scientifically ...this will probably be in the first paragraph or two. It is is not the job of scientists to help mend a flawed hypothesis; only to critique it.
  8. That's why just copying the link the second time round as is with the https didn't work for me. I've been playing with my settings (as you do) and I must have enforced a secure connection in my settings. Just copying the url onto the page works now. My urls aren't showing https any more so I must have turned it off...somehow!
  9. I think I've got it now; Right-click on Youtube screen of your chosen video > Click on Copy Embed HTML > Click Special BBCode button (Top left next to Font in the posting menu bar) and choose Youtube Embedder > Right-click and paste the code in the Content box > OK
  10. What browser? Edited; It's not working for me any more how I described earler...same result as you. This is the code that works extracted from the video I posted. Added red bits to show full code and stop embedded video showing. The last bit is the video ID. Until someone's figured it out you could copy that code up to the second REMOVE THIS and add the video ID on the end. http://www.youtube.com/watch?(remove this)feature=player_embedded&v=(remove this)1c3AQT_Lex4 Put them together and it works: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=1c3AQT_Lex4 I notice there is a Youtube Embedder function in the Special BBCode dropdown list in the top left corner, next to Font, but I can't get that to work either.
  11. Right-click on the Youtube video screen, then select 'Copy Video URL' > Paste http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=AsUt6f4dXZ4
  12. Yes, that works thanks.
  13. If I edit a quote to highlight parts or reduce it, how do I get the cursor out of the quote box into the reply area. Just clicking on the reply area doesn't move it out?
  14. OK, I understand. Just about all my posts have an 'edited' tag for just such reasons.
  15. Quite. Also one needs to be mindful not to potentially derail a thread with inserted comments about a person's style and negging them is a quick and relatively unobtrusive symbolic 'slap' without doing that.
  16. You can edit your posts iNow, as before, unless i misunderstand. Edited; Added for demonstration

    Time.

Einstein was around at the dawn of moving pictures and iirc he asked these very same questions...the rest is history.
  18. The two scenarios zapatos put forward are not equivalent anyway because, using our senses, we can't feel gravity in the absence of some resistance to our continued motion but we can see photons directly.
  19. I think what J C Macswell is saying is: in the absence of resistance you can't be directly aware of gravity. Freefalling towards a massive object in a vacuum, you would feel that you were stationary and absent of any feeling of weight.
  20. I agree. Even though DH goes over my head quite often, because of my inadequate maths knowledge, I appreciate the clarity and detail of his posts and I always learn something from them. The effort and desire to impart what he knows in as clear and unambiguous a manner as possible is commendable..
  21. I think you are correct in the case of identical twins because they share 100% of the DNA but otherwise the proportion is the same between parents and children, and between siblings which is 50%. http://www.joshuakennon.com/how-much-dna-do-you-share-with-your-blood-relatives/
  22. He did that: See my post 71.
  23. Try resetting IE. There's a FIXIT button on this MS page that will do it for you...follow the prompts: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923737 If you want to backup and restore your favourites folder use this first: http://www.softpedia.com/progDownload/MailBrowserBackup-Download-124292.html What OS are you using?
  24. INow I don't think It's a popup issue. Although I have IE9, I set it to block all popups and the Add Image box still came up here. Michel Try deleting your cache: Tools > Internet Options > General > Browsing History: Delete > OK If this fails try another browser to see if the issue is repeated.
