US Mid-Terms 2022
Trump threatens DeSantis: What a lovely working team they are. Does the significant GOP lead just mean the Democratic mail-in ballots are again going to later narrow the difference in the swing states?

Isn't it sad that the more money people make, the more reluctant they are to pay equitable taxes... it's as though he earned the 200B.

By wanting GOP to take Congress to bring a balance of power set my BS radar off straightaway. He's wearing his GOP stripes now.

Any comments regarding Musk's sacking of half the Twitter staff just before todays election and overt support of the GOP?

Gravity Mysteries
Newtonian gravity is descibed as a force. GR is curved spacetime and Quantum Gravity has it mediated by graviton particles. GR comes up short below Planck level and QG comes up short at the macro level, so which level you look at determines which you use. This is the 'domain of applicability'.

McCarthy said it will be "hard" not to hit Pelosi with gavel
Collective memory loss. Reports suggest this is going to be drawn out over days, so I won't be staying up here in the UK.

What I find disturbing under the justice-legal and political systems your side is people are always trying to find ways around the law. The UK system is not great by any means, but we don't seem to get litigation everytime something changes, just to see if it will stick. Brexit was probably the messiest and most litigious situation here that I can remember, finally ending up in the Supreme Court. THe UKSC cases rarely headline and in such a protracted manner as the US system.

What are you listening to right now?
Correction noted. Ta. Watching this and the PBS's Battle for Ukraine (requires Google sign in here) has given me more of an understanding of nationalist groups, and the history and catalysts behind their formation. I think it would be fair to say the Europe-centric part is pretty damn indomitable.

This is a quite riveting showing of the Euromaiden protests in 2013-2014. It's quite hard to watch at times but it really gives a feeling of the determination of the people there. You need 90 minutes to watch it through.

It's his biggest fear. When he visited a famous military cemetry as President, might have been Arlington, he regarded the fallen as 'losers'.

If he wants the civilians out, does this look like a prelude to another scorched Earth attack on Kherson?

Have you noticed Trump often/always gives himself some escape space in case what he says comes back on him? He rarely commits. https://www.forbes.com/sites/andrewsolender/2020/05/22/all-the-times-trump-promoted-hydroxychloroquine/

Yes, he appears to be a potentially bigger problem. The biggest problem Trump has caused, I think, is that his tenure has given confidence to people that wouldn't otherwise have run.

Ah well, I'm trying! Trump's company is now under compulsory anti-fraud monitoring... there's hope.

If De Santis, Pence and others run on the Republican presidential ticket, will that dilute Trump's vote tally if he runs?

What we are seeing looks like brinkmanship on the part of the Russians, I think.

Are we making nuclear war more likely?
Is steadily lowering their yield making them more likely to be used? Is there a case for specifying a minimum yield in a treaty between adversaries?

High tolerance nested metal boxes manufacturing methods
Manufacturing is one expense, and making them to fine tolerances is another. Accuracy cost money. You got the high and low tolerance meanings the wrong way. 'Low tolerance' is the high accuracy stuff.... as in having a low tolerance for errors.

War Games: Russia Takes Ukraine, China Takes Taiwan. US Response?
China has already been taken to task for that because of the orbital debris it causes, if you remember. It seems more and more that Putin is ideologically bound to the idea that Ukraine is an inseparable part of Russia. On my earlier comment about taking out satellites:
