We have not had the technology to fully understand what we have confirmed in the last 3 decades. For 180 years sorry but this was a foolish statement in my opinion. On another note, we have been able to observer and confirm things moving away from the earth in our universe shift more towards red light. And things moving towards us on earth in our universe are blue. I'm not sure how I'm Hysterically wrong for using facts made by observations from some of the most well established and gifted minds of the world. If I can use any amount of Proprietary Knowledge to make a point that does not make me wrong. I would have to agree here, by a biblical definition of GOD. Light would be Omnipresent. I can turn lights on and off in my house all day long. Does this mean I have turned on and off GOD? No pun intended.

Pure energy is any Field energy like potential energy kinetic energy like a fast moving particle but no mass energy of stable or nearly stable massive particles which would require a process to turn into work pure energy. What is pure energy because it is The simplest form of electromagnetic waves. This makes it true that light is pure energy. And if Light is made of photons, then photons are indeed pure energy. It’s not hard to believe anyone would quote the exact context that I stated. If you try to understand what they actually meant.

This is relative only to the observer though? Red shift and blue shift are how we justify the conclusion that the universe is expanding. As things that seem to be a moving further away from us have red shift in light frequencies. And blue shift for celestial bodies moving closer. Light traveling out of a gradient of gravity would shift red from an observer’s on earth but but not for an observer’s observing in space far away from earth. Example: Suppose there are two people for this experiment. Person A and Person B. Person A shoots a few thousand partials of light 90° In to space at Person B. who is just outside of earths “gravitational gradient”. Would person B experience a red shift in light waves or blue? Gravity as I understand it would only affect the observers perspective. So is gravity still having an effect on light as a constant or is it affecting the observer’s perception only? This goes hand and hand with Time Dialation & Relativity. Please excuse any typos it’s 5am here and I’m extremely tired.

Artificial Consciousness Is Impossible
J.Merrill replied to AIkonoklazt's topic in General Philosophy
If I may add a counter argument to this, that is to say I am not sure how close we really are to Actually AI or just another really intelligent programed Robot. While true Intelligence is required to be conscious, just because something is intelligent does not mean its conscious, Lots of equipment of NASA like Rovers are intelligent. Calculators and Computers are pretty intelligent too, but are they conscious? And the indefinite answer is no. 1.) The AI what ever form it is, must have Awareness, out side of programming. We can program robots all day long to detect dead leaves on a tree and pluck those leaves and leave the healthy ones alone. But this is not AI or Awareness it's programming. 2.) The AI Must be Conscious! Consciousness is the state of being aware of something, and it can be regarded more like a spiritual kind of definition. If a person is aware of something he or she may only feel its presence with out actually knowing what it is. Give for example a Blind and Deafened person, they can feel things around them and are aware of them but have no knowledge of what they are. This requires senses that AI just can't obtain Like Smell. The important thing here is that the person does not need to have a full understanding of the object that he/she feels. If they sense it, they may be aware of it. Take away a blind deafened persons ability to taste touch and smell. Now what do you have? Well One can be aware of an emotions yes? 3.) Life It is in my understanding something must be Living and Have Intelligence in order to be Conscious. For example a tree as we understand is alive, but is not intelligent. But a Bird is alive and has Intelligence so it is more conscious than a Tree would be. 4.) Self Consciousness To have an understanding, that one is Alive and is conscious = Being aware that one is aware, or conscious of being conscious. In order for AI to have these and Be a true form of AI in the sense every one dreams about, it must possess all of these outside of programming. -
Spirituality is not needed for Consciousness to exist, so I'd like to leave that out of any argument or opinion I use. It's not really common to try and link spirituality, philosophy and Science as one. And in many ways are 3 different views of the world.

Lets say the rock magically became conscious. It would not know of any time that passed when it was not. Only an observer of the rock at two different states could tell that the rock was once not conscious. We know at one point we were not alive, and life is required for consciousness. But we only know this through knowledge gained, and understanding of things around us. That rock if wasn't told it was once conscious will never know it was not. Its only " Existing" But it would not know this either as its not self conscious,
-
Can I prove that we are conscious? Yes, actually. Is a rock conscious? The answer is no. Why? Because any form of consciousness requires life. That fact we are alive is proof we are conscious. The fact that we are having this discussion now proves that we are aware that we are conscious. And because of these we are conscious that there is a presence of consciousness, it's this makes us Self-conscious.

Yes but the a path something can take does not affect it in the sense you might imagine. For example Imagine there are two people Person A, and B and a wall 5ft wide blocking the view of each other, A has a ball, this ball is our photon. Now Lets throw our photon at the wall, does the other person see us? The answer is no, But lets throw a curve ball, the ball starts out straight but curves the path, not the ball. So our photon hits the target behind the wall in this case Person B. And the source of that photon Is Person A which is now briefly seen even though there is an obvious structure in the direct line of sight. I know it takes more than one photon for the human eye to detect light but this is just an example. I hope I'm not coming off rude this is not my intentions, I only want learn and shed insight on things that may be understood differently. After all to understand things we must have intuition and question things around us. Even if what we think we know works. Like Newtons Law of Gravity was questioned and corrected by Albert Einstein.

No gravity bends the path at which light is taking We have a measurable confirmed experiment that shows light waves bent photons Bent? I don't think so. As a matter of fact Einstein predicted a star would be visible during an clips. This star was behind the sun and would not have been visible other wise if gravity wasn't an effect of warped space time. Light travels though space in a straight line, the line at which light is traveling is bent, but not light its self.

Gravity affects things with mass. Gravity does not affect light, if it did the speed would change. The reason for this unaffected change in speed is light is made of photons, one of the only particles with out mass. Sometimes the word mass is thought of as weight, where this is partially true its not as simple as one would suggest. The mass of an object is measured by its resistance to gravity. When you pick up a heavy or light object it is resisting the Earths Gravity. But there is more to mass than just resistance to gravity, especially on the scale of the smallest observable pieces of matter. So in physics the definition of mass gets a little more complicated. Most fundamental matter Particles such as electrons , muons and quarks, have mass. They get their mass from their resistance to a field that permeates the Universe. Its call the Higgs Field. When referring to the mass of Protons and Neutrons, they are made up of Quarks and their mass is derived from the pull of a force that holds the Quarks together. Photons and gluons , the two forces carrying particles are fundamental so they don't Push or pull on anything. They are unaffected by Higgs field, and so we can indefinitely presume they are massless particles. Massless particles are the form of pure energy and it is sufficient for a particle to have this energy to have a meaning full sense of existence - "Flip Tanedo " So how exactly does light bend with Spacetime? If gravity isn't affecting the photons. Try to not imagine that light itself is actually being bent, but the space around it and the path its taking is bending, its only following the path accordingly.

We have control over what we do, because we are conscious have Sub-Conscious, Self-Conscious and are Conscious of things around us, We can use this with awareness to prevent certain accidents. Or to make decisions that affect our future, for example I am aware the dangers of standing in the middle of the highway, I am conscious of the cars moving toward me, and if I don't move my Future looks dark, and about 6ft down, well i wouldn't be aware or conscious any more id be Dead. We are always conscious there is no switching from awareness to consciousness you have both or its just neurological stimulated receptors firing and responding to things. I wouldn't disagree that ( Intelligence + Consciousness ) = Life ( Life + Awareness of Being alive ) = Self-Consciousness If something's is aware that it is alive and conscious it is conscious of being conscious.

I'm going to try and be as respectful and informative as possible. First things first, light travels no matter where it is unless it is completely absorbed, or under the affects of a black hole, it will remain traveling. How do you think we see the sun and other stars like it in space? If light doesn't exist in space then we would see total darkness, as this is the absence of light. Light and Gravity the same thing? No not even close, as a mater of fact gravity doesn't move. And its not a force so many people think it is, and its much more complex than you might think. I suggest you read Albert Einstein's Special Theory of Relativity, General Theory of Relativity, Thermodynamics of Moving Bodies, and Time Dilation. All of this has a key role in Gravity. (Not explained here). Light Behaves like a wave and a particle it's rather remarkable! When being observed they behave more like particles rather than waves, I suggest you watch the double slit experiment to fully grasp this. It's almost like the photons are aware they are being observed and they behave different accordingly, its called the Duality Problem. I highly suggest as stated before that you watch these or read about it.

This doesn't make any since at all not from philosophical standpoint or practical scientific one. I'm not sure you quite understand the diffrence between Awareness/consciousness , Intelligence and Self-Consciousness . One just cant turn it on and off, not even on accident. The brain wouldn't function well with out our form of consciousness we as humans have today, and its only ascending higher over time. We as humans are the most conscious species on Earth. We share similarities with animals however there are huge differences between the level of consciousness. Take for example an Ant, and an Ant Eater, the ant doesn't understand its food for the ant eater, and its also highly unlikely the Ant Eater understands fully and is conscious that Ants are food for it. As Food is part of the human language we have given things we eat a broad name called Food. Most things we safely consume are considered Food or Drinks. The Ant Eater just eats, but does it really know why its doing so? Has it any idea ants tasty nasty? Does it think they taste good? Perhaps it can know fruits taste much better than ants? As stated before Highly unlikely as this would require a high level of consciousness most (NOT ALL) animals don't have. 1.) Intelligence Animals are intelligent just like humans are intelligent. It takes Intelligence to be aware/ conscious. But just because something is intelligent doesn't mean its conscious. For example Calculators and Computers are pretty intelligent right? But they are not conscious or aware of the space they occupy. And the environment around them. 2.) Awareness/ consciousness Most living things (NOT ALL) with a small level of intelligent and a simple form of consciousness are aware of things like danger and food, and they can feel pain they are aware something hurts if they brake a bone. We as humans are aware visually, physically, and emotionally. We are conscious, however our level of consciousness is far more complex then just awareness, almost every living organism is aware in some sense. Like cats are aware, of things like danger and some new studies show they are capable of emotion to a small degree. But does this mean they are as conscious as us? The answer is no. 3.) Self Awareness/Self Conscious Knowing that you are human and are different from other species around you is only a small portion of the pie. Knowing that we are on a giant sphere floating somewhere in space is also another small portion of the pie. What about Language, its a necessary element as consciousness increases to a higher level of Self-Consciousness. Language also requires thought even if you don't think long about what you say, you are consciously thinking before you speak. Animals communicate through neurological stimulation and basic instinct, so no " Cats hissing or Dogs barking/ growling are not forms of animals language" as these don't require thought. It's like you blinking if someone flinches at you. It was not you telling yourself to blink. It's a neurological stimulated response, in your brain that does this. Stimulated responses can also change based on adaptation, take for example a child that may have been abused, raising your hand up might trigger a response of them cowering. But I can raise my hand around my kids all day long and they don't even flinch. Almost Every living thing has a form of consciousness some of it is a simple as (ONLY) neurological triggers/stimulations something with a consciousness like this would likely be parasites maybe bacteria or an ant? There are a lot of things I left out that has to do with consciousness, but humans don't just "TOGGLE" On and Off forms of consciousness. Something is either conscious or not. And Self-Conscious is completely different.
