I want to start off by saying I am not a scientist, I hold no PhDs, and have published no papers. all of my understanding of the universe is from pure fascination and an un-healthy level of desire to understand how the universe works. with that said, I was recently reading up on the newest JWST images that could potentially show that the theories on how we believe the universe started and how its expanding my be wrong, or at the very least even more incomplete than we previously thought. If the universe is assumed to be expanding, then as galaxies move further away, they would be distorted by an optical illusion that would make them appear larger the further away they are, due to us seeing them as they were millions/billions of years ago when the light originally leaving them. Then there's the issue of a lack of "rough galaxies" that form when smaller young galaxies collide to form larger ones, which is considered to be the primary way galaxies grow to the size we see today. The JWST has shown this not to be the case in recent images, and could suggest that the universe isn't actually expanding, which means no big bang. Then, as I was reading, my mind shifted to the perception 4 dimensional space and how a 4th dimensional object would appear to us in 3 dimensions. If a 4D sphere were to appear 3D space, it would appear simply as a regular sphere. But then as it moved through our dimension, it would appear to grow larger and larger until it's mid-way point, then begin to grow smaller as it exited our dimension. As you can by now guess where I'm going with this, Is it possible that our entire universe consists of the collision of 4 dimensional and 3 dimensional space? In my mind, this would explain the apparent growth of the universe, and possibly even dark matter actually being, or being the product of, the interaction between these extra-dimensional collisions. feel free to be overly critical of my lame man understandings, I'm always open to learn.
