That response was so inevitable, I don't know what to say.

Life is the ability to relay an electrical impulse. my right?

Pun and a half !!! What's 111 binary?

From my understanding I think they are the equivalent of the A-levels(AS/A2). I've read that a-levels are more intense though. I don't know if this is true but the source was written by a chemistry teacher who taught AP and A-levels. The A-level was said to cover more topics and was generally more rigorous. Its possible to use A-levels in the same way (as college credits) when applying to a university/college outside of UK or any country that doesn't support A-levels.

Herme 3 from our previous discussion - I'm very introverted as you know, but I know, this is not me. What you have said is that people of similar interests to you walk by and not engage in conversation. Wouldn't the solution be to try and engage yourself these people. e.g. stepping up and "breaking the ice" (cliche of cliche's - annoying phrase). As you know, I have a problem and its because of this, I just don't feel up to talking with strangers. So my point is, Do you have something which stops you from talking, "a physical barrier" (or is it just everyday anxiety which has been prolonged). Ignore this post if you want.

ISTJ I did this test ages ago. I haven't changed my life since then so its the same. I think its accurate (for me anyway) - no other type fits the bill. I would like to be more extroverted - but then I might just become much more annoying and careless. Introverts good. Its alright.

First one -Once you complete the square it should look like this: (x+ 1/6)^2 - 1/36 = 2/3 (Then solve the equation) Second one just plug these values into the formula. a=2 b=-9 c=5 Third one - don't know (thats an english essay question, right?) The fourth one = y= ax2 + bx + c You already know what c is (-2) and a value of y and x (4, -2) 2 = (a x 16) + (b x -4) - 2 To find a and b - you have to do yet another simultaneous equation. I'm fed up with these type of questions. the fifth one - Just solve the equation any way (quadratic formula etc) Then write the x values as an inequality in respect to 0. Answer to last one: (3x +4)(x -1) The rest is up to you - fill in the blanks.

Ouch ! Those ones are pretty bad. I've been shot at, knifed upped. I think one of the worst ones was falling into a deep pool. I actually felt the sense of drowning and the water all around me as I struggled to swim up. That was horrible. As for the taste and smell - wierd. I too can't remember any sense of these. Maybe I smelt the water, I don't know. Maybe these senses can't be recreated by the mind because they are not "physical." (its not possible to see taste or smell)

No - the y isn't the mean The mean (average) is 80 km/hr y is just the constant that is needed in order to carry out a division of 3 to obtain the mean. Which you've done.
-
Yeah - you're right. There's nothing much more you can to do. The mean will always be inaccurate anyway so there isn't a clearer precise answer. 90 km/hr is correct.

questions on the search for intelligent alien life...

Says "The Peon" It was directed at the human race but I wouldn't expect such a person of anger and insult to figure that out. Since you can't even respect my opinion: bullcrap _______________________________________________________________ -
questions on the search for intelligent alien life...
Cloud replied to awriter's topic in Speculations
m-waves, M-WAVES. Another 'dumb' human response(no directed offense). We don't fully understand how the mind works. We have no means to detect m-waves (e.g. GM tube for radiation) Who's to say they don't exist. The action of thinking. Isn't this an action - which results in an electrical impulse). M-waves would have to be physical. Yes. It probably would have to be a new type of wave (besides the 2 in definition now) We don't really know all there is to know about physics. Its not about "creation" of physics? Its more about discovering i.e. Einstein discovered x. Newton discovered y. If anyone "created"(use term loosely) physics it would be Newton with his laws and then people built on this over time abiding by the physical rules of each others discoveries. So its just a matter of discovering m-waves (as a type of wave which carries an instruction) So the idea can't be ruled out. _____________________________________________________________ I don't want to piss anyone off. This is a speculation forum and I'm supporting the idea of telepathy. That's all. I'm no genius(as is made clear from my posts) -

Easiest Ways to Completly memorize the periodic table
Cloud replied to saske's topic in Homework Help
You can easilly memorise groups. Group 1 (metal alkalis) Group 7 (halogens) Group 8 (inert gases) Then you will have about 20% memorised. Then Do most of group 2 and 6 (because its has all the important elements including Oxygen and calcium) The big bulk of transition metals in the middle is not really worth knowing. As long as you know the main ones - Iron, Magnesium etc - that will be ok. -
When I tried to work it out I wrote: x+ 2y = 374 x+y=502 I knew something was wrong. Thks Vrus. Could someone do the first one? Its p+q/2 (if that isn't clear). So far I have come up with - they all have to be positive numbers. But that is wrong because it doesn't really matter + or -.
-
Sorry - there might be some more maths questions after this (until my exams finish - end of June) Cloud has two lists of numbers. The mean of the numbers in the first list is p The mean of the numbers in the second list is q. He combines the lists. He says: "The mean of the new list of numbers is equal to p+q " ____ 2 One of two conditions must be satisfied for him to be correct Write both conditions. _______________________________________________________________ Thats the first question. The 2nd one - (less bullshit) David collected 1p and 2p coins in a jar. There are 374 coins in the jar. The coins have a total value of £5.02. Use algebra to find how many 1p and 2p coins there are in the jar. ___________________________________________________________ I'm pretty sure I need to construct yet another simultaneous equation for the 2nd one. Its not that I'm lazy. I just have 8 other subjects. Its pretty stressful right now. Please - someone help. Much appreciated. (And I'll know I'll kick myself if someone does reply)

Even I don't fully understand this. Yet I'll attempt. For the energy in the magnetic field - this would be measured as energy density(in atmospheres/pressure). I don't know if there is a connection to kinetic energy. 0.5 x (mass of electrons in coil) x (velocity of electrons in coil)^2 = x no. of atmospheres I mean - this energy density would have to be converted into joules (energy). That impossible.

Thanks for clearing that up. I knew it was one of them two. I think it was the "centre of gravity" thing that martial artists endorse which confused me.

Can we prove that life is random?
Cloud replied to whap2005's topic in Evolution, Morphology and Exobiology
Why isn't evolution random? Isn't it just about being at the right place at the right time (for a period of time) Some survive, some don't. -
You have 4 types of force there. If I was to exert a force - lets say a straight punch. Would this fall under gravity? Could it be electromagetic?

questions on the search for intelligent alien life...
Cloud replied to awriter's topic in Speculations
I support that. I don't have any justification. I just support that. Aliens could probably communicate with their minds. (I like to call it m-waves - or you can just call it telepathy). IF aliens evolved - they must have evolved with better abilities than humans. If they evolved in a hostile environment etc or a place with no atmosphere (e.g. they can't hear themselves). -
1) No idea. Don't even know what that is. Not going to look it up. Lazy. 2) Transfusion is useful because sickle cell anemia is a deformity of red blood cells greatly reducing the capacity of oxygen transported to cells. A blood transfusion provides a fresh batch of healthy cells with normal oxygen capacity and the patient is relieved (to some extent). How's that?
