in thermionic emission nucleus of the thermionic element is not strong enough to hold the electrons in the outer orbit which means that the meson particle which mediates the strong force between the protons and neutrons in the nucleus is having the less limited range than the electromagnetic repulsion of the protons. isn't it?
and thermionic element is said to have high mechanical strength.
my doubt is that if the element is not having the strong nucleus how they will have the high mechanical strength?
